Chapter 180: Why the Hell Are You Feeling Jealous?

Chapter 180: Why the Hell Are You Feeling Jealous?

Magnus had been standing guard at the door of the rest room, and from time to time he would check his watch. Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!

The two of them had been inside for more than fifteen minutes.

Addison had approached him to pry into their meeting, but she was stopped short by him. Based on the flow of things, it was likely that the two of them would mend old wounds.

As he pondered this, there was a rustle behind him, and Hayden emerged from the room.

“Ms. Downey.”

“You don’t need to refer me as that. I am no longer a manager working in the hotel.” Hayden swept her gaze over Magnus. The look on her face was very distant and disengaged.

Just as Magnus was still in a daze, Joseph came out of the room too, and he was in an extremely foul mood.

He felt his heart go cold and bitter. This scene didn’t look like they were getting back together at all. Most likely they had gone through another scuffle, and it might be too late to mend anything.

The banquet had already started, and the members of the Sanchez family were carrying around some champagnes and greeting the guests.

After Hayden had come out, she immediately joined Freddie and Alayna, and they were joined by Cleveland shortly. They were all huddled up together, and Cleveland would introduce them to the other guests there from time to time.

“Since when did big brother become so close to those few?” Addison pulled her mother close and asked with confusion.

Cleveland’s mother, Elizabeth, was in her sixties, but she spared no efforts in maintaining her appearance. She still looked elegant and outstanding. After shooting a glance in the distance, her eyes lit up, “Oh? You are right, why is your brother so close to those few? Who is that woman? Is she married?”

Addison’s mother was Taiwanese, and there was a coquettish accent to her voice which was impossible to change after decades of using it. She called her family members weird names such as calling her eldest son big brother, the second son as little brother and Addison as little sister. The three siblings were helpless about that.

“Which one are you asking about? Addison looked into the distance with some wariness in her eyes, “There are two women there.”

“I am talking about that woman in a black evening dress. I seem to see her talking to big brother all the time. Judging from the fact that big brother never talks to any woman, could it be that she is his girlfriend?”

She was talking about Hayden.

Addison felt a secret rush of joy in her heart, “That woman is unmarried, and her name is Hayden Downey. She is one of the employees working under Joseph. Mum, do you like her?”

“She appears to look fine, but I wonder about her ability as a wife. You also know that your previous sister-in-law is not a family person. She has no problem divorcing big brother without a second thought.”

“Of course she would make a fine wife. She has a daughter, and she is raising her daughter well.”

“She has a daughter?” Elizabeth revealed a shocked expression on her face, “She looks so young. I can’t picture her having a daughter already.”

“Yes, I think she had a divorce long time ago. She has been raising that daughter alone, which is something difficult. However, based on the prestige of our family, it wouldn’t be appropriate to let someone who has divorced and has a child marry big brother, would it?”

Addison was testing her mother’s thoughts on this matter.

As expected, her mother didn’t mind one bit. With a wave of her hand, there was an innocent and pure glint in her eyes, “Why did that matter? As long as big brother likes her, there is nothing wrong with her already having a child. What’s more, big brother has a child too, and it would be nice to have an accompaniment for his child. Let me introduce myself over there, little sister.”

“Hey, mum…”

Addison pretended to stop her but that didn’t stop her mother. While snickering secretly, she followed her mother.

If her mother was able to put her big brother and Hayden together, wouldn’t it be the perfect chance to resolve one of the difficulties in her life?

Hayden was mocking Joseph for his previous question in front of Alayna in one corner, which made Alayna jump up in fury. Hayden had to suppress her so that she wouldn’t create a ruckus.

“What kind of stupid question is he asking? The two of them are both his own child. Is he a moron?”

“Just let it go, he doesn’t know anyway.”

Hayden had thought things through, but she still felt a little moody. She gulped down a mouthful of beer and muttered, “Just let him think whatever he wants.”

“He will regret this in the future.”

She had finished her beer, and she had done joining the commotion. Hayden glanced at Cleveland who was seated opposite her, announcing that she was going to leave. Freddie immediately stood up following her, “Let me go with you.”

“Let me see you off.”

Cleveland also stood up.

Hayden and Alayna exchanged a glance and there was an ambiguity in their eyes.

Before the four of them could make it to the entrance, a sultry and melodic voice halted them. They turned around to discover it was Cleveland’s mother. She was chasing after them while holding the edges of her blue gown, “Wait, Cleveland, are these your friends? You haven’t introduced them to me yet, yet you are going to leave now?”

Cleveland glanced at his mother and replied, “They have something to do later. I am seeing them off.”

Elizabeth’s gaze fell on Hayden, “Right. You need to see them off. It’s not safe for a girl to be out alone at night. Make sure to send her all the way home. You don’t need to rush back here.”

Her words had a strange ring in Hayden’s ears.

While she was processing her words, Elizabeth walked up to her and studied her.

“Addison told me that you are an employee working in Joseph’s company. What’s your name?”

Hayden froze for a moment before answering uneasily, “Hi, Mrs. Sanchez. My name is Hayden. Just now, I saw you getting busy in the hall, so I didn’t greet you. I’m sorry about that.”

“Oh, it’s fine.” Elizabeth’s smile was very warm, “This is the first time I have seen big brother bringing along his girlfriend.”

“Girlfriend?” Hayden quickly explained, “Mrs. Sanchez, you have misunderstood. I am not Mr. Sanchez’s girlfriend.”

Elizabeth winked a little and said with a strange expression on his face, “It’s okay, I know that. You guys can take your time. My big brother is a little cold and emotionless, but he is still a fine guy. He doesn’t even want his assistant to do some heavy lifting for him.”

When it came to Cleveland’s assistance, a vivid picture formed in Hayden’s mind.

She didn’t see any sign of his pouting assistant today.

As for his mother’s claim that Cleveland didn’t want his male assistant to do any heavy work, she had to admit that she didn’t know about this. It seemed that there was a kind of man who had no difference compared to women in this world. He seemed to treat this kind of man well.

Elizabeth sent them all the way to the main entrance and she even invited Hayden to come visit them next time enthusiastically. Hayden felt pleasantly surprised by that, and she was in a daze even though she was in the car.

“It seems that your mother has misunderstood something.”

“This is no misunderstanding.” Cleveland crossed his arms and looked at Hayden without any emotion, “It’s obvious that she is trying to put us together.”

Freddie immediately launched into a rage and his head hit the roof of the car. He screamed at Cleveland while he tried to endure that pain, “You better make your mother give up on this. How can my sister set her eyes on a gay person like you?”

Cleveland looked at Freddie with a smirk, “Are you jealous?”

“Why the hell should I be jealous?” Freddie’s face had darkened as he cursed loudly, “Are you that shameless?”

This was the first time Hayden had heard Freddie, who was supposed to be a good child, spout so many rude words. His antics now completely upturned his image in her mind and she found it difficult to accept that. Coupled with the impacts she had experienced in this banquet, she suddenly felt her chest aching.

“Hayden, are you okay?” Alayna asked her worriedly.

“I’m fine.” Hayden waved her hands, “I just need some rest.”

Cleveland had stopped quarreling with Freddie. He stared at Hayden for some time before asking, “If you have resigned from ST Hotel, would you consider working in my company?”

Hayden was stunned. She couldn’t believe her ears.
