Cynthia was attending the Bennett Group’s annual gala for the first time, held in the banquet hall at the top of the Bennett Century Tower.
If she hadn’t known it was an annual gala beforehand, Cynthia might have thought she was at a star–studded awards
ceremony.
There was a hundred–meter red carpet at the building’s entrance. Cars would stop in front of the carpet. Before entering the building, guests had to walk down the red carpet.
Then, they would face the host’s questions and sign autographs. The whole process was just like an awards ceremony.
Countless cameras were set up on both sides of the red carpet. Media from all over the city had been waiting outside all day with their cameras and equipment.
There was a reason for such a grand setup–the Bennett Group’s annual gala always attracted the top celebrities in the entertainment industry.
Betrico Multimedia owned the largest talent and entertainment agency in the country. Half of the A– list celebrities in the entertainment industry had come from this company.
Even though they were already top stars, being able to attend the Bennett Group’s annual gala was regarded as the highest honor.
Cynthia and Jonathan arrived in a black Bentley. The car paused at the red carpet, and a doorman wearing white gloves came to open the door for them.
Today, Cynthia wore a gorgeous starry sky gown with her hair in loose curls. Her only accessory was a blue gemstone hairpin.
Yet she looked just as stunning as celebrities covered in jewels. She had a natural beauty that didn’t need any ordinary adornments to stand out.
Cynthia walked arm–in–arm with Jonathan into the venue, Every move she made was graceful and elegant, with an extra touch of relaxed ease that made her stand out.
As she stepped onto the red carpet, it seemed like everything all around lost their color for a moment. All the photographers were instinctively drawn to her, snapping away.
Many media outlets were live streaming the event. The chat in the live stream was overflowing with compliments for Cynthia.
Someone commented: [Cynthia, you look stunning, you’re killing it.]
Another person said: [Whose fairytale book got left open? The princess just stepped out.]
One person said: [Cynthia, I’m telling you, don’t be too perfect. I’m seriously impressed. Every screenshot is flawless.]
One comment read: [Mr. Bennett’s having a tough time. Though he’s stunningly handsome, because next to Cynthia, no one even talks about him.]
Soon, Cynthia and Jonathan reached the sign–in booth. After signing in, there was a brief interview. The hosts were the famous duo in the industry, Hana and Roger.
Roger started with a little teasing, “If Iremember right, this is the first time Mr. Bennett has brought a date to the Bennett Group’s annual gala.”

Jonathan gave a sly smile. He took the microphone, and dropped a bombshell, saying, “She’s not just my date, she’s my wife.”
Hana and Roger were both in shock, faces full of amazement. Hana couldn’t hide her curiosity. She asked, “So, are you officially married?”
Jonathan suddenly pulled two marriage certificates out of his suit pocket. With a slight hint of pride in his voice, he said,
“Legal and legit, certified and ready to go.”
Roger watched as Jonathan proudly pulled out two shiny marriage certificates. His eyes showed his confusion for a moment: ‘Who brings marriage certificates to walk down the aisle?‘
But he quickly regained his composure. Acting dramatically, Roger exclaimed, “Congratulations to both of you! This is great news for the Bennett Group.”
“But it’s a huge disaster for all the ladies from Betrico,” Hanna said, “It marks the shattering of countless dreams and hearts.”
The public only knows that Jonathan had announced Cynthia as his girlfriend. In truth, many were skeptical about this relationship.
Even though Jonathan caused quite a stir when he proposed on a reality TV show, things had been quiet between the two since then. It had led many to speculate that the Bennett family might be objecting to their relationship.
Cynthia shone in many roles–whether as a stunning TV host or the vibrant A–lister on variety shows. Now, she had also added another feather to her cap as the chief designer for a world– renowned jewelry brand.
These accomplishments were dazzling to most people. However, those achievements seemed less significant compared to the Bennett family’s wealth and power. No matter how outstanding Cynthia was, she was still just one person without any substantial backing.
These prestigious families with a century–old legacy, strong in wealth for generations, typically formed alliances and marriages within their circles. They valued the power and background behind a person more.
Everyone thought Cynthia would, at most, be Jonathan’s dream girl and confidante. They didn’t expect that they would announce their marriage at the Bennett Group’s annual gala.
Cynthia smiled the whole time. Jonathan had always wanted to make their relationship public, and now it seemed like he finally found the right moment. He even pulled out their marriage certificate from his pocket.
Cynthia had no idea about Jonathan’s reaction. They’d been in Betrico for over two weeks and hadn’t returned to Roncrity. She wondered if Jonathan had been carrying the marriage certificate with him all this time.
Jonathan was eagerly flaunting his marriage certificate in front of the camera as if by accident. Every live room was instantly buzzing with excitement.
One commented: [Wow, they got married! The couple I shipped finally made it. I’m taking a day off tomorrow to celebrate.]
Another person said: [Mr. Bennett couldn’t hide his pleased look when he showed the marriage certificate. Could he be a romantic fool?]
Someone commented: [Who carries a marriage certificate on the red carpet? He is confirmed as having love–brain syndrome.]
One person said: [Mr. Bennett, put your marriage certificate away before it gets worn out from all that opening and closing.] Another person chimed in: [Alright, alright, we see it! You’ve officially graduated; you’re no longer just Cynthia’s Pretty Boy.]
with the Pretty Boy thing? Is there some new joke I don’t know about?] Someone asked: [What’s up Another person replied: [What? Didn’t you know Mr Bennett is being sponsored by Cynthia?]

One person commented: [Hey, mind your words. What’s going on with the Pretty Boy comment? Leaving a sentence half- finished is so weak unless you’re just pretending to be tough or overly dramatic.]
All the media live rooms were buzzing with excitement. At the same time, Cynthia and Jonathan had just finished their
interviews.
Hana spoke up. “Thank you both, and best wishes to you. Your marriage news will be on tomorrow’s front page. So, how about you strike a closer pose for the media to capture for tomorrow’s papers?”
Cynthia naturally moved closer to Jonathan. She had planned to hold his arm, but Jonathan surprised her. He turned, cupped her face, and kissed her on the lips.
Cynthia was momentarily stunned. She didn’t expect Jonathan to act like this in front of everyone. While Jonathan could be uninhibited in private, he usually kept a cool and reserved demeanor in public.
Jonathan gave Cynthia a deep kiss and only let go afterwards. Cynthia couldn’t help but roll her eyes. She said, “You’ve ruined my lipstick.”
Jonathan noticed Cynthia’s eye roll but just felt amused. He wrapped his arm around Cynthia’s waist and said, “The reporters work hard. It’s only fair we help them out a little.”
With that, Jonathan escorted Cynthia by the waist into the tower hall. The live room’s buzz was off the charts.
Someone commented: [Mr. Bennett is sharing sweets online. Oh my gosh, let’s ship it!]
Another person said: [They’re just so sweet and perfect for each other.] Belonging to NôvelDrama.Org.

In a black Bentley that had just arrived, a slender figure in a black feather evening gown, spreading across the seat, held a tablet. Her eyes were glued to the live room. Her fingers, grasping the tablet, were turning slightly white.
