Oops, I’ve Been Exposed

Chapter 51 by Lorelei Thunder

Kurt ended the call helplessly and returned to his seat.

“How was it? What did Mr. Timothy say?” The two women had expectant looks on their faces.

If Kurt said that he had failed, he would be disgracing himself in front of his dream woman. So, he lied. “It’s a little complicated, but my dad is doing the best he can. Don’t worry. Let’s just wait for updates.”

The emcee got onstage and announced that the charity event had begun. Helen subconsciously leaned closer to Woody. To others, it looked very intimate. After all, most women would do that only if they liked someone.

“Mr. Henderson, I sincerely had no idea that you were divorced. If not, I wouldn’t have made last-minute arrangements for Ms. York to come over. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

Helen’s vibrant, red lips were just a few inches away from Woody’s ear. It looked as if they were a couple exchanging whispers.

Woody sat upright as he said, “That’s all in the past. You don’t have to blame yourself for that, Ms. Cartwright.”

Pamela happened to catch sight of them and frowned when she did so. She thought that she had gotten over him. But when she saw her ex-husband being so intimate with other women, she couldn’t help but feel jealous.

Pamela had no idea that Helen was the one who gave the order for Brutus’ legs to be broken two days ago.

Helen had given them her name, but Brutus and Trudy were causing such a ruckus that they didn’t hear her at all. The way Trudy and Brutus saw it, with Woody around, the woman wouldn’t be able to escape.

But if they had heard Helen’s name and told Pamela about it, Pamela wouldn’t have disgraced herself today. Pamela bit her lip as if she was caught in a dilemma.

Onstage, Helen’s secretary stepped up, announcing that the Cartwrights and Helen herself would be donating 200 million dollars. She even humbly said that it was to get the ball rolling.

The crowd praised Helen’s generosity for making such a huge contribution to charity.

“Summit Group isn’t as wealthy as the Cartwrights, so we can only donate 80 million. We’re motivated to do so in response to Ms. Cartwright’s act of charity. We’re contributing in what measly ways we can.”

“Gonzales Group hereby donates 50 million!”

“The Bell family is donating 50 million as well…”

Just then, Pamela went onstage. She said in embarrassment, “York Corporation is donating 10 million.”

Even though the audience didn’t say anything, she could feel everyone’s eyes on her. She was only donating 10 million, and she had the guts to get onstage?

Even though the amount didn’t matter, the smallest number announced before this was 30 million dollars. 10 million was nothing! The guests wondered if Pamela was looking down on them or Helen.

If it weren’t for the fact that Pamela was a beautiful woman, she would have been mocked right there on stage.

But Helen seemed to disagree. She gave Pamela a thumbs-up, which was a pleasant surprise. Then, she hastily said something in gratitude.

“York Corporation’s market value is over 100 million, but according to what I know, their working capital is only 10 million.”

Helen explained to Woody in a small voice, “Your ex-wife is essentially donating all the money her company has left in its account. I admire her boldness.

“By the way, York Corporation wants to be the Cartwrights’ gold-tier partner, but I disqualified them because Pamela allowed Kurt to disrespect you. Is that alright with you?”

Woody frowned a little. He seemed to be taking pity on his ex-wife. “You don’t have to drive them into a corner like that.”

Pamela was donating all her money, which meant that she wasn’t exactly irredeemable. They used to be married, after all. Also, Woody couldn’t bring himself to add insult to the injury, nor did he care to.

Helen was a smart woman. Nodding, she said, “Alright, I’ll make amendments right now.”
