Melissa's POV

It wasn't until-nightfall that Sebastian finally invited me to the party.

I eagerly accepted his invitation, choosing a stunning off-the-shoulder high-slit gown that revealed my delicate collarbones. The fabric shimmered like moonlight, almost translucent, casting a soft glow.

My seaweed-like golden curls cascaded over my chest. It had been a long time since I had dressed up so formally; I meticulously applied my makeup and completed the look with a pair of silver high heels. Sebastian wore a white shirt, casually paired with black trousers and dress shoes.

I casually tucked a silver bow tie into the pocket of his shirt, making us look even more like a matching pair.

"You are truly beautiful." He gazed at me and pulled me into his embrace. I smiled at him, then stood on my tiptoes to lightly brush my lips against his.

"My dear Alpha, you look pretty good yourself."

I lazily nestled into his arms, the scent of his cologne always providing me with a comforting sense of security.

"You'll always be with me, won't you? No matter what happens. My dear Melissa."

He whispered in my ear, gently nibbling on my earlobe.

I held his head seriously and made him a vow.

"I swear to the Moon Goddess that this relationship will last forever, unless one of us dies. The past

is behind us and won't affect our present."

For werewolves, swearing to the Moon Goddess was the most sincere testament of commitment.

As we left the North Castle, Sebastian prepared three horses.

As I fretted over how to mount a horse in this dress, he effortlessly lifted me into his arms.

Beside us, Kala, clad in a red dress, struggled in Martell's embrace; it was clear that their relationship had made no progress at all.

We traversed the silent forest and arrived at Howell Town, the border between the North and the Valley, a place shrouded in shadows.

"My stepmother and other brothers like to stay over there. If you'd like to meet them, I would be happy to introduce you."

I hadn't expected him to have family, and I was momentarily taken aback.

Noticing my surprise, Sebastian chuckled.

"After my father's accidental death, I allowed them to choose their own living arrangements to avoid further pain. I send them a monthly allowance. After all, being an Alpha, it's my responsibility to take care of them." "But I've never heard you mention any of this before."

Could he, like me, be harboring untold secrets about his family?

This thought brought back memories of the witch during the ambush....

"My brothers still come to the castle to see me, but ultimately, we are not the same kind of people, so it's often difficult to reach an agreement on many matters."

Sebastian remained serious as he spoke, unaware of my emotions.

"After the Alpha took power, many rules were revised, and many of the noble families in the North, along with those fools who have nothing but empty heads, were quite unhappy about these changes. This is also the main reason for the quarrels among the brothers." Basil's voice brought me back to the moment, reminding me that it had been a long time. since I'd last seen him, and I wondered what he had been up to during this time.

"Didn't your mother ever think of you?"

As the words left my mouth, I couldn't help but feel foolish; even if his stepmother spoke up, she would likely only support her own son.

This thought led me to worry about Aaron's situation.

Would Courteney truly care for him as she initially had?

The recent chill in the air made it easy for Aaron to have a heart attack; he should dress warmly.

"That woman would relish it if the Alpha died during every ambush."

"Basil! You're saying too much."

Sebastian didn't want this topic to overshadow our plans for the evening; if we could meet those so-called family members, he wouldn't have to find another opportunity to bring them before me. "In fact, I suspect the old Alpha's death was linked to them..."

As he mentioned this, B.

usually gentle and humorous, became serious.

"Basil! Shut up!"

Chapter 23: Shakti's Jealousy

It was the first time I had seen Sebastian this angry, and he invoked his Alpha authority to silence Basil.

I could see the irritation on Sebastian's face regarding family matters, so I quickly intervened to change the subject.

Meanwhile, Martell and Kala, who followed behind us, were completely oblivious to our situation, and it even seemed like they were on the verge of coming to blows.

I was surprised at how prosperous it was here!

Though they called it a queue, it felt more like a exclusive grand banquet for the elite.

As Sebastian walked in, many people immediately recognized his identity and quickly surrounded him.

I smiled and let him handle those guys on his own while Kala stayed with me for a while before receiving invitations from other men.

It struck me that the northern region seemed to have a particular fondness for someone like her, aside from that man who glared at us, his eyes practically shooting fire.

I casually picked up a champagne glass and stood on the balcony, enjoying the breeze.

To my surprise, I encountered someone I hadn't seen in a long time. She no longer wore the embarrassment she had during our first meeting.

She had even dyed her hair black, her brown eyes glancing past me as she wore a long dress with a distinctly Eastern flair.

"We're all part of this new batch."

It was somewhat unbelievable that Shakti initiated a conversation with me.

After all, during our initial encounter, l'had spoken so much to her without receiving a single response.

"But you possess the ability to make the Alpha regard you differently. If you hadn't been the Luna of the Meadowlands, you might genuinely be seen as a threat."

She turned to face me fully, her cold gaze locking onto mine.

"Enough, Shakti! There's no need to say so much to a pathetic whore who only revels in her own arrogance. You know Sebastian so well that he'll casually pick up a woman and toy with her based on his whims until he grows tired of her and moves on. It's always the same. That fool only has eyes for one person; he's still searching for that ungrateful wretch who left him. Nobody will pose a threat to you."

Before I could grasp what was happening, a sexy woman in a purple robe entered the

room.

She raised her glass and smiled at me, but I could feel the disdain in her tone. 39.9%

The unmasked derision in her gaze made it clear she had no affection for me.

"Does monopolizing the Alpha make you feel happy?"

Shakti's words made me realize that her purpose for coming to the North wasn't innocent; it could be said her goal had always been Sebastian.

"Enough! I told you that your status doesn't require you to argue with such a lowly whore over these matters. Sebastian should be ashamed of himself for associating with a prisoner and letting those sneaky bastards go! I doubt you even know that he intimidated the PACK you came from, executing many of its warriors."

"If you're so idle, I can send my brother to deal with the aftermath of the attacks. And Melissa is my beloved; I hope you can show her some respect and refrain from shouting her name like that. Mother!"

Sebastian's voice came from behind, laced with anger as he gritted his teeth. Though he was suppressing his rage, I noticed his cars and neck turning red.

The cause of his anger was undoubtedly his stepmother and Shakti.
