Chapter 421

Chapter 421

Chase suddenly realized he had been holding up the crew, and a sheepish grin spread across his face. “Sorry, folks. How about I treat you all to some late-night grub? I’ll have it delivered right here.”

The mention of late-night snacks sent a wave of cheers throughout the cast and crew.

“Girl, your man is not just a looker, but he’s loaded too! And you’re still mad at him? If I were you, I’d be busy having his babies,” one of the crew members teased Sasha.

Sasha no longer felt like clarifying things. Her relationship with Chase had become a mess - the more she tried to fix it, the worse it got. She swallowed her anger and clenched her fists tightly.

“Chase, just you wait. I’ll show you!”

By the time they wrapped up, it was past three in the morning.

Chase, who had just performed a seven-hour surgery and lost a considerable amount of blood, was both exhausted and weak. He had dozed off on a sofa in the hotel lobby.

Just as Sasha was about to follow the crew into the elevator, her assistant tugged at her wrist and whispered, pointing toward the lobby’s sofa. “Sasha, Dr. Chase is still waiting for you. Better go to him.”

Before Sasha could react, her assistant pushed her towards Chase and quickly closed the elevator door, waving with a grin. “Take good care of your man, Sasha. He’s had a hard time waiting for you.”

Sasha glared at her assistant as the elevator doors shut, then walked away. She turned to look at Chase, noticing his pale complexion and the dark circles under his eyes. A flicker of sympathy ignited deep within her. She had some understanding of the demands of a medical career, especially for a cardiologist like Chase who often faced lengthy surgeries. Some of the surgeries would last well into the double-digit hours. She had seen the hardships firsthand.

Setting aside personal grievances, Sasha approached Chase. She nudged his shoes with her foot and called out sharply, “Chase, go home and sleep.”

Chase slowly opened his eyes, looking at her sleepily. His voice was hoarse. “Sasha, I haven’t eaten.”

“You just bought the crew late-night snacks. Why didn’t you eat?” Sasha asked incredulously.

“I was too tired earlier, couldn’t eat a thing.” Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

“And being tired doesn’t mean you go home and rest? Who asked you to wait for me!”

Chase got to his feet with a grin, slinging an arm around her shoulders. “Everyone’s saying I’m your boyfriend. If I left, that’d make you look bad. Even if I’m exhausted, I’ve got to help you save dignity, right?”

“I don’t need your help!”

Sasha tried to break free, but Chase’s grip only tightened. He whispered in her ear, “Since you’ve already claimed you have a boyfriend, I can play the part for now. Once this storm blows over, we’ll go our separate ways. Don’t worry. My service is for free. Fair enough?”

His playful smile and the casual look in his eyes made Sasha drop her guard. “When our deal is up, I’ll announce our breakup. Remember, you’re just an actor I’ve hired. I’ll pay you.”

With her permission, the smile in Chase’s eyes deepened. He pulled Sasha into his embrace with a roguish laugh. “My darling girlfriend, let’s head home!”
