Linda left Felix Group's office and stepped into the lobby. She noticed the receptionist giving her an odd look and couldn't resist asking, "Is there something on my face?" She almost pulled out a mirror to check.
The receptionist shook her head. "No, no, it's not that."
"Then what's the matter?"
The receptionist pointed to William, who was holding a bouquet. "Mr. Wilson has been waiting for you for
some time."
Linda followed her direction and met William's loving, deep gaze. "Alright, I see."
She walked over, looking into his eyes with no trace of warmth. "Mr. Wilson, what are you doing?"
Linda honestly didn't get what he was trying to do. Was he trying to make amends?
"Nothing special. I'm free and thought I'd see if you'd like to grab dinner," William lied effortlessly.
Meanwhile, Jay, who was overworked, kept sneezing non-stop at Wilson Group.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Wilson, I can't join you for dinner. I already have other plans." Linda placed the flowers he gave her on the coffee table, clearly uninterested. Once, she might have treasured the bouquet, nurturing it lovingly. But now, these flowers held no meaning
for her.
"Mind if I join you, then?" William asked shamelessly.
Linda frowned. "If you don't mind having dinner with me and my current boyfriend, I don't see a problem. Current boyfriend? William's heart was thrown into turmoil upon hearing those words.
Linda didn't spare him another glance as she left Felix Group. Her car was already waiting at the entrance. She had just fastened her seatbelt when the passenger door opened. William, with his tall frame, slid into the passenger seat.
*As your ex, it's only right that I meet your current boyfriend. I'll help you judge his character," he said.
Linda wor
at a loss for words. She started the engine and drove to their destination.
The car stopped outside a fine dining restaurant near Linda's hotel. Linda entered the innermost private dining room, almost as if she knew the way by heart. William trailed closely behind her.
Jimmy Cole had been waiting for quite some time in the private dining room. A smile spread across his face when he saw Linda, Yet, a look of confusion flashed in his eyes when he noticed William behind her. "I'm not some kind of beast. It's pretty insulting to bring a bodyguard just to have dinner with me," Jimmy
quipped.
Linda burst out laughing at Jimmy's comment about William.
"What? Am I wrong?" Jimmy pressed on.
Jimmy had always lived abroad, so it was understandable that he didn't recognize William. Plus, with William's stern expression and all-black outfit, he did look like a bodyguard.
After they sat down, Linda introduced William. Only then did Jimmy understand.
"Linda, this is on you," Jimmy said.
Linda didn't argue.
"Mr. Wilson, right? I'm Jimmy Cole, a good friend of Linda's."
William responded politely, "Hello, I'm William Wilson. I'm Linda's-"
Linda cut in. "He's my ex-husband."This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
Jimmy's expression changed immediately.
"Linda, bringing your ex to our dinner is rude." Jimmy picked up a glass nearby. "After all, I am your current boyfriend, right?"
"You're right. I didn't think this through. We'll have a meal alone when I return from my business trip,"
Linda said.
