Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Trisha glared, “You’re still in the mood for jokes! Someone died in the other car!”
“Yeah,” she lowered her eyes, almost whispering, “I almost died too…”
Trisha had other things to do, so she hastily dropped Celeste off at home.
When Celeste returned, she greeted the housekeeper and went upstairs. After her shower, she saw
that the traffic accident had become a hot topic. However, most of the focus was on Sydney.
Except for the official media that highlighted the severity of the accident, entertainment section focused
on Sydney’s mysterious boyfriend.
The media didn’t dare reveal Liam’s identity, only vaguely mentioning that the man was extremely
wealthy. Sydney’s fans were busy debunking rumors while also worrying about her injuries.
Celeste found it funny, as the nurse had said Sydney only had scratches.
But soon her face turned ugly, her heart pounding with anxiety as she saw Sydney posting an
ultrasound on Facebook, announcing she was six weeks pregnant.
Six weeks ago was the day Liam was photographed at Grandview Villa.
The timing matched perfectly.
Celeste stared blankly at the screen, her heart twisted into a knot.
Their three–year marriage was like a blank sheet of paper.
Before marrying her, Liam was already with Sydney. His grandmother disapproved of Sydney’s
background and forced them apart.
Heartbroken, Liam chose Celeste, the one with the worst family background among the many ladies
waiting for a marriage alliance, as a way to rebel against his family.
Celeste’s family sought the protection of the Reeds, and Liam wanted to use Celeste’s identity. Their
marriage was a perfect match, each getting what they wanted.
No one knew that what she wanted was Liam himself.
In love, the one who fell first lost.
Sydney’s existence was like a thorn in her marriage. She tried to ignore it, letting the thorn grow deeper
into her flesh. She thought it would disappear with time, but instead, it took root and tore her marriage Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
apart.
Her perseverance became the biggest joke.
When Liam returned, it was almost 10 o’clock. The house was quiet, with only the housekeeper
around.
“Where’s my wife?” Liam furrowed his brow.
The housekeeper took his coat, whispering, “She went straight to her room when she got home and
hasn’t come out since, didn’t even eat dinner. I’ll heat up the meal and bring it to her room.”
“No need,” Liam replied indifferently, “She’ll come down if she’s hungry.”
The housekeeper didn’t ask any further.
Liam took a shower and hung out in his study for a while. When it hit 11 o’clock, he checked his watch.
Usually, around this time, Celeste would bring him some milk, even when they were fighting, she’d
have the maid deliver it.
But today, after more than ten minutes past 11, there was no sign of movement at the door of the study.
Liam couldn’t really concentrate on his documents anymore, so after a few more minutes, he got up
and went back to the bedroom.
As he pushed the door open, the room was pitch–black, and he could only vaguely see the person
lying on the bed.
As soon as Celeste heard the door open, she opened her eyes, but she didn’t move. When she felt the
bed sink beside her.
she knew Liam had lain down.
She rolled over and reached into his pajamas.
Feeling the muscles tense up under her hand, she got naughtier and naughtier.
Liam’s breathing became more rapid, and as she continued to explore, he suddenly grabbed her hand.
Liam flipped her over, and pinned her beneath him, “What are you doing?”
