My Love for You Never Fails

Chapter 1 Substitute Groom

Chapter 1 Substitute Groom

In the begging of summer, River City.

In the Peony Hall, seven-star Dynasty Hotel.

Thousands of people just witnessed an embarrassing event: In the highly anticipated marriage between Hua’s and Xie’s family, Danny Xie, the bridegroom, was absent. He escaped?

And it kept getting worse. There came some news on the screen in the hall which is about Danny's affair with a god-knows-who actress: He was caught making out with her in her apartment in the morning.

The Xie’s family, who hosted the wedding, was left in awkward astonishment, not knowing how to wrap it all up.

And the bride in wedding gown on the stage had become no more than a funny story after dinner.

Mrs. Hua on the VIP seats felt really anxious and asked her husband: “Darling, what…what should we do?”

Her husband, Josh Hua the Chairman, felt no less anxious than her but stayed silent. This is something that he had never seen, how could anyone treat a wedding like this?

Hua‘s in the east, Wang’s in the west, Xie’s in the south, Jiang’s in the north, these are the four families in the River City that has the most renown and prestige. If it was a prank, the consequence is beyond anyone’s imagination for sure. He just couldn’t figure out why Danny just bail out like this.

The took their fifth daughter, who had been living in the Mount green for more than ten years, back all for the wedding, and then there came such an intolerable embarrassment.

Xia’s family’s master came near Josh, pat him on his shoulder.

“Josh, this is definitely my family’s fault. If possible, could you please put this wedding off a few days? I’ll inform you when I get Danny back.”

No sooner did Josh gave his answer than the bride spoke, and everyone stayed silence, all ears to what she would say to deal with such a farce.

Susie Hua, the bride, held the mic in her hands and looked around the hall after which her attention was focused on a man in the front VIP seats who was playing with his phone all the time.

“This is it, him, then.” Susie thought to herself. Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.

Her voice was low but graceful:” Fourth table of the first row, black suit and playing with his phone, sir, excuse me?”

That rang a bell in Leo Jiang’s head. Phone…was it him?

He looked up, staring at the bride, surprised.

No one could see her face through the veil. Leo had met four daughters of Hua’s family but not Susie. Story had it that she had been living in Mount Green with her grandmother since she was still a child, spending all the time living as a Buddhist ever since until she left there three days ago.

The story also had it that Susie was, to say, far from beautiful, but she didn’t sound like it.

Susie continued as she had caught Leo’s attention: “As we all can see, we had an, incident, today. I don’t want to ruin everyone's mood today since it’s a wedding. So, sir, do you dare come up the stage and be my temporary groom and finish this marriage?”

And everyone was booing.

So, she waned a substitute groom? Isn’t that something only happens in things like sports games and movie making?

Both Xie’s and Hua’s families were left in worse astonishment, none of them had saw it coming.

So was Leo. Temporary groom, him? Why did she use “dare”? Was it goading?

Even though he found it awkward like everyone else, he started walking to the stage.

He was more curious than confused, wanting to find out what she would do next. That was not something people could see every day, not to mention she was from such a famous family.

His long-sealed heart was awakened.

His mother was shocked, shouting to him hurriedly: “Leo! Get back here! Back!”
