Chapter 2567
Even though he said this, Montez didn't hang up the phone.
He pricked up his ears and listened closely for a response.
Yesseca finally replied, "I'm sorry Montez. I don't think I can do that for you."
It would be very difficult for her to pretend to be his mother.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
"Oh." Montez was very disappointed. He felt like an entire mountain had fallen on him. "I'll hang up then."
"Beep, beep, beep."
The call ended.
Yesseca wanted to go against her better judgment, but then decided not to.
Soon it was the next day.
Montez had caught a cold.
He had been feeling very down last night and went for a walk in the garden.
It began raining heavily, but Montez didn't go back inside. He continued walking until some of the soldiers on guard duty spotted him. Montez fell sick from walking in the rain.
It was quite a bad cold. It took him three days to recover from it.
On the fourth day, Montez received a call from Yesseca.
It wasn't for any urgent reason. Yesseca simply wanted to talk to Montez.
Yesseca felt really bad for refusing Montez's request the other day.
The reason she took so long to reply to his request that day was that she didn't want to pretend to be Montez's mother.
Once the call connected, she heard Montez speaking very hoarsely.
Yesseca could tell that something was wrong.
She asked right away, "Montez are you alright? Why do you sound so hoarse?"
"I'm fine," Montez replied weakly.
Yesseca asked him again, but Montez insisted he was fine.
After chatting for a bit, Montez said that he was feeling tired and needed to take a nap.
Yesseca was very worried about Montez. She decided to call Sheldon a little while after.
She asked Sheldon to check on Montez.
A couple of hours later, Sheldon called her back.
Sheldon told her that Montez had a cold and had been sick for the past four days.
Yesseca held her breath.
Four days!
Montez had called her four days ago!
"How is he? Is it serious?" Yesseca asked.
"It isn't serious." Sheldon continued, "I was informed that he was talking a walk by himself in the garden when it was raining heavily. He. refused to come back inside until the guards found him and dragged him in."
Yesseca's heart dropped.
She knew why Montez was walking in the rain.
It was because of her.
Yesseca felt anxious and regretted rejecting his request.
She should have called him back after he hung up that day.
She could have explained to Montez why she couldn't, which would have prevented him from walking in the rain.
"Sheldon, please keep an eye on him for me. If anything happens to him, please inform me right away." Yesseca asked.
"Not to worry Miss Cowell, he is your son after all. I'd do it even without you asking me to."
Sheldon hung up and immediately made his way to the Quartley Palace.
At this time, Tremaine called home.
Even though Tremaine was
overseas right now, he still had to be updated on things in the Quartley Palace. That morning, Tremaine called and learned about Montez's illness.
In Tremaine's opinion as a man, a cold was negligible.
Tremaine was more upset over the fact that Montez hadn't gone to school for four whole days.
He called Montez and asked him
et
about illness, he then changed the subject and asked him why he hadn't gone to school.
Montez told him it was because he was sick.
