Chapter 1480
Skylar found a message from Aiken on her phone.
"Yesterday, Stephen showed up at the college looking for Simona. I had a classmate ready to step in at just the right moment. Simona's attitude shifted quickly, so there was nothing to worry about. Now, it's time for me to start reeling Stephen in."
Aiken's words were more of an update to Skylar, reassuring her that there was no need to keep worrying about Simona. Skylar wasn't surprised that Simona had broken free from the influence of the negative item.
But it only confirmed her suspicions. The negative item attached to Stephen was very similar to the ones she had discovered in Avalon Residence. These items were destructive to both others and the person who wielded them.
Skylar thought about how Stephen had recently been using the negative item to gain success in romance. However, things were likely going awry in all other aspects of his life.
It wouldn't be long before Stephen's actions would backfire. Skylar frowned as she thought about the frequent appearance of these negative items.
"Do you have a headache? You had so much fun drinking, but now you're paying the price. I have some medicine at home. Let me go get it."
Natalie, still half-dazed, slowly stood up from the couch. She regretted drinking so much. The consequence of drinking so much was that now her whole body felt uncomfortable.
"I've just ordered some breakfast. It'll be here in about 30 minutes. Let's eat and take some hangover medicine afterward," Skylar said as she poured two glasses of water and retrieved some honey from the fridge. "Drink this honey water first."
"I love you so much! This honey is the one you gave me last time. Whenever I wake up with a sore throat, a cup of honey water is all it takes to soothe my throat," Natalie said, quickly finishing the cup of honey water.
The discomfort in her throat immediately eased, and she felt revitalized, as if coming back to life.
Skylar drank her water slowly, sipping it in small amounts. "Do you have plans to go out after breakfast?"
"I think I'll sleep a bit during the day. In the evening, I'll go back to my mom's place. I still don't know how to tell her.
"She's very sensitive. If she finds out about my breakup, I'm sure she'll be even more upset than I am. Just thinking about it gives me a headache," Natalie said, clearly regretting telling her family about her relationship with Austin.
Secrets like this couldn't remain buried for long. One day, Austin paid her a visit and, by chance, encountered her mom.
A man and a woman alone in a room-it was an image that spoke volumes.
Given her past role as Austin's assistant, it was only natural for people to assume the truth about their relationship.
Skylar encouraged Natalie. "Things will work out on their own."
Natalie's eyes lit up as if a weight had been lifted. "You're right! Things will work out on their own," she said, her voice filled with a newfound clarity. Breakups weren't the real fear. The true fear was avoiding them when they were necessary.
Thankfully her memories with
Austin were all beautiful. No matter
what obstacles others placed innoveldrama
their path, they couldn't shake the strength of their connection

Two hours later, Skylar returned home around noon. As soon as she opened the door, she saw Joe.
She was quite surprised. "Didn't you have anything to do today?"
Joe raised an eyebrow, a hint of helplessness in his eyes. "There's nothing to do today. I told you this morning that I'd be staying home."
The unspoken meaning was clear-she hadn't taken his words seriously, leaving him all alone at home.
Skylar couldn't help but laugh,
feeling as though Joe was like a puppy abandoned at home. She walked over, trying to suppress her smile. "Have you had lunch yet?"
Joe glanced down at the book in his hands. "Not hungry."
He was being rather stubborn.
Skylar put down her bag and went straight to the bedroom. Joe glanced up briefly and tugged at the corner of his lips. It was painfully clear to him that he ranked lowest in her heart, trailing behind her family and friends.
Skylar quickly changed and came out again. "I haven't had anything to eat. I'll check what's left in the fridge."
When Joe heard her mention she hadn't eaten, his gaze lifted.
