They had the meal harmoniously with their thoughts. When Rebecca occasionally asked about doing
business, Abbot told her everything he knew. After the meal, Abbot paid the bill, and the four of them
came out of the hotel together.
Colin held Faye's hand with one hand, put the other in his pocket, smiled at Abbot, and asked, "Do you
need us to send you home, or...?"
Abbot unnaturally raised his hand to touch the tip of his nose and said, "It's getting late. You just had an
operation, so you need to rest well. I've already called my assistant, and he'll be here soon."
Although Colin had seen him through, he did not expose him but smiled playfully, "Okay, be safe."
Then, he left with Faye. Faye took a step and looked back at Rebecca with a smile on her lips.
Rebecca secretly gave her an OK gesture, hinting that she did not need to worry. Faye then nodded
slightly in response. After Colin and Faye left, only Abbot and Rebecca were left in front of the hotel.
She stepped down two steps to stand beside him and said seemingly unintentionally, "I found Mr.
Farrell is always deliberately creating opportunities for us to be alone."
Hearing this, Abbot turned his head to look at her.
Rebecca stood on tiptoe and put an arm around his neck, saying, "We have to make it clear to him that
we are just friends and have no feelings for each other."
Rebecca was much shorter than Abbot, so he had to bend over.
When he looked closely at her face, his Adam's apple moved, and then he asked, "No feelings for each
other?"
Rebecca's heart was pounding violently, but she pretended to be calm and nodded, "Yeah!"
Then, she turned to look at him and asked, "Why? What's wrong? Do you have feelings for me?"
Looking at her red lips opening and closing, he gritted his teeth and said, "No, I have no feelings for
you at all."
Hearing his words, Rebecca raised her eyebrows and said, "What a coincidence! Neither do I."
They then looked at each other unblinkingly, fighting with their gazes silently. When they were stuck in
a stalemate, a car suddenly stopped in front of them. Soon, the door of the driver's seat opened, and
then, Abbot's assistant got out of the car to open the door of the back seats for them.
"Mr. Carter, Ms. Black, good evening."
Rebecca gave a quick smile, retracted her arm around Abbot's neck, and then took the lead to walk to
the car.
Abbot stood up straight, raised his hand to touch his stiff neck, and went down the steps with a gloomy
face.
When the assistant saw his long face, he asked in a faint voice, "Mr. Carter, are you alright?"
Abbot glanced at him and asked, "Do I look like I am not alright?"
Hearing this, the assistant was stunned, and then, laughed dryly, "No, you look good." Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
Abbot said, "Get in the car."
Then, he leaned over and sat in the car.
Seeing this, the assistant hurriedly closed the door and trotted back to the driver's seat. When he
fastened his seat belt and slowly started the car, Abbot turned his head to look at Rebecca and said,
"You should think carefully about the project I told you about today. The profit is good."
Rebecca nodded, adjusted her sitting posture, found a comfortable position, closed her eyes, and
muttered, "Wake me up when we arrive."
Then, she fell asleep.
Seeing her soundly asleep, Abbot reached out to help her close the suit jacket, pursed his thin lips
slightly, and looked ahead.
A few minutes later, the car swerved sharply, so Rebecca was thrown on Abbot's shoulder.
Abbot held his breath and clenched his fists on his sides.
The assistant raised his head to look at the backseats and asked in a faint voice, "Mr. Carter, are you
alright?"
Abbot replied, "I'm fine."
The assistant looked at Rebecca's swaying body and kindly reminded him, saying, "Mr. Carter, why
don't you hold Ms. Black in your arms? There are still a few turns ahead, so I'm afraid she..."
Before he could finish speaking, Abbot interrupted in a deep voice, "Focus on driving."
Hearing this, the assistant was speechless. He had worked for Abbot for several years, so he could see
clearly that Abbot liked Rebecca. He wanted to help him, but he didn't appreciate it. So, he didn't dare
to say anything more but could only slow down the speed of the car.
Unexpectedly, after a while, Abbot said coldly, "Are you sure you can send us home before dawn at
such a speed?"
The assistant raised his head and looked into Abbot's eyes in the rearview mirror. Then, he swallowed
hard and turned the steering wheel, making another sharp swerve.
Abbot took a deep breath and naturally reached out to wrap his arm around Rebecca's shoulders.
The assistant thought if Abbot had dropped a hint to him earlier, he would have long done so.
