Chapter 1465: Sneak
Ayan replied calmly, "I hope so."
Aria has never been in a relationship, and her brother Ayan knows the reasons behind it all these years.
Almost towards the end, Aria arrived late.
She was dressed in a lady's suit, looking particularly elegant. She was well aware of who she was meeting today. So, when she entered the private room, there was no surprise or shock but a calm composure as she greeted everyone.
Eventually, she looked at Ayan and Camille, called out to her sister-in-law, and then said, "Brother."
Ayan responded with a nonchalant acknowledgment, devoid of warmth or further words.
The atmosphere was somewhat quiet, with everyone's eyes on the siblings. Camille, noticing the tension, quickly spoke up, "Aria, please sit down. We were waiting for you. Your brother just complained to me about your tardiness from a young age. If you had been here earlier, we could have both scolded him together."
Camille lightened the mood with a joke, leading to laughter from everyone.
Aria's gaze remained fixed on Ayan, sensing his aloofness and distance, understanding why he felt this way.
Grateful for Camille's support, Aria exchanged glances with her before sitting down next to her. She did not sit next to Derek, trying to maintain some distance to avoid upsetting Ayan.
However, Camille suggested, "Aria, why not go sit with Derek? I want to discuss the design competition with Sienna."
Aria immediately understood Camille's intention, as did the others present. Sienna cooperatively swapped seats with Aria to sit next to Camille.
As Aria sat beside Derek, he held her hand in front of everyone. It was evident they had been in a relationship for a while, and Aria's response suggested that it was more than just casual dating.
Camille watched their intimacy but the man beside her remained silent. Camille then turned to Ayan beside her, "Cheer up a bit, or else Aria will feel pressured."
Ayan's expression remained serious, but as he faced Camille, he softened his gaze and spoke gently, "I am not unhappy."
"But you appear too serious right now. Can you be a bit gentler?" Camille tilted her head, looking at him expectantly.
After a brief pause, Ayan nodded faintly, agreeing to her request.
With that, Camille's worries eased. She rarely involved herself in the Simpson family matters, especially those pertaining to the siblings. Mishandling such issues could strain their relationship further. However, Camille had known Aria before her marriage to Ayan, having worked together in the same industry. Their interactions had always been pleasant.
There is often a sense of camaraderie between women, especially when one admires the other's excellence. Camille and Aria's relationship fell into the latter category.
Now that Camille was with Derek, she sincerely wished happiness for them.
As for Ayan's concerns, some things are bound to happen despite worrying, so it's best not to fret unnecessarily.
Ayan eventually remained quiet for the rest of the evening, maintaining a relatively calm and normal atmosphere.
Sienna, sitting with Camille, whispered, "Is Ayan worried that his sister will disappoint Derek?"
Camille smiled, "Probably. They are all interconnected, and with such close relationships, it could be awkward if things don't work out."
They stayed at the club until the early hours before leaving.
They returned in cars driven by their chauffeurs, departing in four groups.
Camille and Ayan, Sienna and Rex, Derek and Aria, and Tomas alone.
In the car on the way back, Camille and Ayan sat quietly in the back seat.
Camille wondered what was on Ayan's mind and asked, "Why are you so quiet?"
He gently replied, "What do you want me to say?"
Camille held his hand, her voice soft and concerned, "Are you still thinking about Aria and Derek?"
Ayan shook his head lightly and said, "No, that matter is in the past. Since they have sorted it out, why should I say more?"
Camille nodded, "Exactly, so you should be happy. They will be fine."
Ayan smiled and confessed, "It's not about them. I just haven't had a drink in a long time. Maybe it's the aftereffects of alcohol?"
He chuckled lightly, but Camille seemed somewhat worried, "Really?"
"Yes, really." He gently placed his hand on Camille's shoulder, still speaking in a sincere tone, "Don't worry, I won't let this affect me in any way. It's their matter, and if they think it's right, I won't intervene too much."
Despite being his sister and brother, he wouldn't interfere excessively. That was basic etiquette.
Camille felt more at ease after hearing his words. She was worried that Ayan's disapproval might affect his relationship with Derek.
They safely arrived back at Franklin Bay; by then, it was late. Camille took a shower before settling down to rest.
Meanwhile, Ayan received a call from Derek, discussing Aria's situation.
Derek informed Ayan over the phone, "I just dropped Aria off at her apartment. She's not in a good mood, probably worried that you might not approve, hence the pressure."
Ayan stayed silent.
Derek continued, "I plan to arrange a family dinner in the next few days, followed by preparing for the engagement ceremony."
Ayan simply replied, "Okay."
Sensing his coldness, Derek asked, "When we get married, will you be our witness?"
With narrowed eyes, Ayan asked in an emotionless tone, "You two were sneaking around. Do you need my approval?"
"Of course we do. After all, you are my future brother-in-law. Can't you give us that much face?"
"If you needed that face, you wouldn't have kept it from me." He would have preferred prior knowledge, allowing him to have a good chat with Aria. He trusted Derek, but considering Aria's busy work schedule, jet-setting around the world for a whole year, would their marital relationship with Derek be balanced once married?
Aria was his sister, and he wanted her to be happy. Therefore, his thoughts and concerns were more extensive.
The conversation unfolded, and ultimately, Ayan kept his thoughts to himself. As the night drew to a close, the atmosphere in the car was very quiet.
Camille couldn't figure out what was on Ayan's mind and eventually asked, "Why aren't you talking?"
He gently replied, "What is there to say?"
Staring into his eyes, Camille grasped his hand and softly asked, "Are you still thinking about Aria and Derek?"
Ayan shook his head lightly, "No, that matter is in the past. Since they've figured it out, why should I dwell on it?"
Camille nodded in understanding, "You should be happy too. They will be fine."
Ayan smiled and revealed, "It's not about them. I just haven't had a drink in a long time. Maybe it's the aftereffects of alcohol?"
He chuckled, and despite Camille's concern, he assured her, "Yes, really." Gently placing his hand on Camille's shoulder, he spoke earnestly, "Don't worry, I won't allow this matter to affect me emotionally. It's in the past, their decision, and I won't interfere too much."
Though they were siblings, he wouldn't intrude excessively. It was a matter of basic etiquette.
Camille felt reassured; she had been concerned that Ayan's disapproval might strain his relationship with Derek.
The journey back to Franklin Bay was smooth, but it was already late. Camille took a shower before getting ready to rest.
Ayan received a call from Derek, discussing Aria's situation.
Derek informed Ayan, "I just dropped Aria off at her apartment. She's not in a good mood, probably worried that you might not approve, hence the pressure."
Ayan maintained his silence.
Derek continued, "I plan to arrange a family dinner in the next few days, preparing for the engagement ceremony."
"Okay," Ayan replied calmly.
Sensing his detachment, Derek asked, "When we get married, will you be our witness?"
Ayan's eyes narrowed, and his voice remained devoid of emotion, "You two were sneaking around. Do you need my approval?" This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
"Of course, it's necessary. After all, you will be my future brother-in-law. Can't you give us that much dignity?"
"If you need that dignity, you shouldn't have kept it from me." At least let him know in advance so he could have a good talk with Aria. Derek's character was trustworthy, but Aria had a demanding job, jet-setting around the world all year. Would she manage a balanced relationship with Derek once
they were married? Ayan cared about his sister's welfare and had more thoughts and concerns than others.
