Chapter 856 The separation
In an instant, Nina felt a sharp tearing pain from the incision in her abdomen. She clutched her stomach
and shivered, before collapsing to the floor with a thud. Seeing his daughter fall to the ground, Kasen
Paul hurriedly ran over.
Harley was also frightened so he turned around and wanted to run toward Nina. However, a pair of
hands grabbed his arm before he could move. They belonged to Carlee who didn't want any eventual
complications blamed on her.
"Follow me, don't meddle!" she whispered to Harley.
But Harley couldn't just stand by and watch his Nina in pain. In fact, he felt hurt and slightly annoyed by
how uncompassionate his mother was proving to be.
"If you want to leave, go by yourself!” He whispered coldly before turning to face his mother. “If you
ever try to harm her again, I will never call you Mom!"
Carlee froze at the warning, her hands hung weakly by her sides. Before she could muster a response,
Harley scurried away to Nina.
At this moment, Nina was sweating profusely, groaning and sprawling on the ground in pain. Kasen
Paul and Ariana wanted to help her up, but both of them didn't have enough strength and tried several
times but failed. But it wasn't their fault. They were no more in their youthful years and Nina had barely
lost the extra weight she had gained from pregnancy.
"Let me help!" Harley offered, squatting down. He looked at Nina’s pale cheeks and face and he had
nothing but deep pity for her.
At first, Kasen Paul didn't want to accept Harley's help, but considering the safety of his daughter, he
kept on a gloomy face which did not stop him. The two men then worked together to help Nina back to
the hospital bed, making sure she didn't sustain any more injuries.
Nina laid on her back panting. Mrs. Ariana who sat beside her was beginning to fear that her daughter NôvelDrama.Org © content.
could have been more hurt than she thought, so she hurried to call the nurse. When she laid down the
bedside phone, she whispered; "Nina, hold on, the doctor will be here soon."
Harley, who was watching Nina while seated at the other end of the hospital bed, noticed Kasen Paul's
impatient expression but didn't want to go away while Nina was in pain.
Seeing Nina holding her mother's hand on the edge of the bed because of the pain, Harley's heart
tensed, and he, on impulse, reached for her hand. However, Kasen Paul suddenly spoke up,
expressing his dissatisfaction that Harley was still in the ward.
"Nina is taken care of by us, you can go," Kasen Paul said coldly, and threw the empty lunch box on
the cabinet to him. "Is it bad enough for Nina to have escaped death from you people? Do you want to
kill her to be satisfied?”
Ata glance, Nina looked at Harley and tried to speak but the words seemed to be stuck in her throat.
But it didn't matter if she could say it, Nina knew that she would not give her heart to Harley. No doubt,
the man had given her hope and vision, but now she was afraid he gave it all to Sylvia.
Harley knew he probably deserved to be scolded by Kasen Paul. Harley also knew his mother had
crossed the line by hurting Nina.
"Sorry Mr. Kasen about what happened today," He apologized to Kasen Paul again and left the ward
without looking back.
Since Carlee didn't want to get involved, she hid in the corridor near the elevator and waited. When she
saw Harley approaching, she lowered her voice and asked, "How is Nina? Is she okay?"
"Mom, it's really painful to be your son!" Harley cried out before walking ahead of her into the elevator.
The two returned home together that day, and although Carlee was very quiet during the ride home,
her countenance changed as she walked into the house.
"Harley, I figured it out. Since Nina had a daughter, let's do a paternity test first! If the child is not yours,
you will be completely separated in the future. if the child is of the blood of the Timothy family, we will
pay monthly child support.”
Harley was amused when he heard that his mother was thinking of a way out for him. With a chuckle,
Harley responded calmly:
"I don't need to do a paternity test. The girl will be raised by me and Nina."
Knowing that Harley is still not giving up, Carlee's brows knotted into a frown. She slumped on a
cushion with her legs crossed and began to nag again.
"Are you out of your senses? I can see you are still not clarified at this point! You are the tenth
generation of the Timothy family. Look at Nina's physical condition. Even if I agree to your marriage, will
she still be able to give birth in the future? Don’t you want the Timothy family to have an heir?"
Harley needed no sage to tell him that his mother didn't like his granddaughter, Even with that, he had
no intention of changing his mind, and said to himself: "I don't have to pass on the lineage to anyone,
whether it's a daughter or a son, I will hold it in the palm of my hand!"
"You are being selfish. You are just looking out for yourself!" Carlee said, shaking her head and giving a
long sigh: "Why did I give birth to you? Isn't it just to give the Timothy family an heir who will be able to
look after its fortune? Why should it be so hard for me to hold a grandson?"
Just after this wave of questioning was finished, Sylvia heard the noise in the living room again and
hurried downstairs, her flip-flops making squishy noises as she walked.
"Mrs. Timothy, you're back," Sylvia greeted politely first, and when she saw Carlee's angry
countenance, she feigned ignorance and asked, "By the way, Mrs. Timothy, where did you go just
now?"
Carlee understood the ploy. "I went to the hospital just now, and I can only pin my hopes of having a
grandson on you!” Carlee's tone turned serious. "Sylvia, I promise you, as long as you let me hold my
grandson, you will not only be my daughter-in-law, but I will love you as a daughter!"
Sylvia's eyes flashed with pride. However, Harley couldn't stand the mother anymore.
"Okay, since the Timothy family has another daughter, it's time for me to make room. You can take care
of your daughter and your grandson when she gives birth to a son in the future!” With that being said,
he strode upstairs to pack his things.
Watching Harley writhe in anger, Carlee didn't take it seriously at first and told Sylvia with a sneer:
"Nina gave birth to a girl, this is what I expected, and you will be less of a threat in the future." Sylvia
smiled shyly and echoed softly: “Actually, I don't want to cause conflict between both of you. I just want
the child to be born safely, and then to be filial to you."
Every word of Sylvia was thought out, and Carlee's happiness was sparked after she spoke. Hearing
that Sylvia offered to be filial to herself, a relieved smile appeared on Carlee's face. Her mode changed
however when she saw Harley return to the living room with a suitcase.
"Mom, I'll move out from now on, don't call me unless it's important." There was no emotion in Harley's
voice.
Carlee was stunned. "What do you mean? You want to move out when you barely know how to fend for
yourself?”
"No matter what you say, I'm leaving. You said it yourself. I can't give you a grandson so I'm not worthy
of being your son. Hence, I'll go away!"
Harley didn't want to argue or quarrel, so after he spoke, he just walked out the door with his suitcase.
