Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 236

Chapter 236 Things Didn’t Look Good for Damien Clarissa finally reached the bottom of the staircase

after much effort. Both her head and belly were in great pain. She couldn’t get up at all.

On the first floor, Rebecca had just gotten off work and heard some noise coming from the stairwell.

She approached it to see what was going on, and was surprised to see Clarissa lying on the floor. Her

head was bleeding.

Rebecca hurriedly called an ambulance and had Clarissa taken to the hospital.

The doctor checked on Clarissa. Fortunately, she was only banged up, and the babies were fine. The

doctor bandaged her forehead and told her to rest in the hospital for a few days.

At the moment, Clarissa was greatly weakened.

She had an idea of who had pushed her. Previously, Rebecca had told her about Nicole. Nicole had

refused to leave the firm, and Rebecca couldn’t do anything about it. Even now that Nicole had been

relegated to an administrative job, she still refused to leave.

“You scared the hell out of me! Thank goodness I was still at the office.” Rebecca was still scared from

the shock. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

“What time did Nicole get off work?” Clarissa asked.

Rebecca was surprised. “Are you saying someone pushed you? Do you suspect Nicole? She left long

ago, though.”

Clarissa smiled. “It’s nothing. I’m not suspecting anybody.”

She didn’t tell Rebecca about her suspicions.

There was already bad blood between Rebecca and Nicole, and Rebecca definitely wouldn’t let Nicole

off the hook for intentionally injuring Clarissa. Clarissa was afraid that if things were to get out of hand,

Nicole would do something extreme and worsen the situation even more.

“I’ll check the surveillance cameras. If she’s the one behind this, I won’t let her go!” Rebecca said

determinedly.

“Don’t waste your effort. There aren’t any cameras in the stairwell. She must have planned it out.”

Clarissa’s hair stood on end when she recalled the feeling of being shoved so brutally. Someone was

watching her and her babies.

If Madelynn knew Clarissa was actually pregnant with Damien’s children, would Madelynn have made

her move a long time ago?

Madelynn and Connie would definitely be a lot more ruthless than Nicole. Instead of something as

elementary as pushing her down the stairs, they would probably do something more extreme, such as

causing her to become infertile.

The thought chilled Clarissa.

She was lucky Rebecca had been working overtime this time, but what about next time?

It seemed she had to keep the fact that she was pregnant with Damien’s children under wraps at all

costs. She couldn’t be on her guard at all times.

“Oh, right. Do you have time tomorrow?” Clarissa asked Rebecca.

“I have to make time for you now, don’t I? What’s up?”

“Damien wanted me to go to his office tomorrow to collect the files for all the projects he snatched from

us, but there’s no way I can go like this. Can you do it for me? I think there’s probably going to be a lot

of stuff.” She was sure Damien had snatched more than ten of First’s clients, which was more than

enough to keep their firm running for a whole year. Rebecca was very surprised. “Damien? For you?”

“Yeah. You have to do it quickly, okay? I don’t want something to crop up and cause trouble.” Clarissa

soon fell asleep.

Before that, she thought about how if Theresa were still around, Theresa would probably bring her food

and listen to her rant.

However, her mother would never come back anymore.

The next day, Rebecca appeared at Damien’s office. He glanced behind her. “You’re here alone?

Where is she?”

“Clarissa? She’s sick and in the hospital,” Rebecca answered.

She looked at the files on Damien’s desk. There was a huge stack of them.

She couldn’t help feeling a little envious of Clarissa. “Sick?” Damien frowned. “What’s wrong with her?”

“The elevator was out of order last night, so Clarissa took the stairs down from the second floor.

Someone pushed her, and I suspect Nicole’s behind it. You know who that is, right? She’s always had a

crush on Joseph, and she was probably green with jealousy that Clarissa was pregnant with his child.

Something’s definitely wrong with her here.” Rebecca pointed at her head to make her point.

Much to her shock, Damien had an ugly look on his face.

It suddenly occurred to Rebecca that perhaps she shouldn’t have mentioned anything about Clarissa

being pregnant with Joseph’s child. After all, they had just gotten divorced, and Clarissa was already

pregnant with another man’s child. It was undoubtedly a huge blow to Damien’s ego. “Sorry, President

Lawrence. I shouldn’t have said that,” Rebecca added quickly. “It doesn’t matter. Is it serious?” he

asked. “The doctor said she’s banged up and has to rest in the hospital for a few days. She’s really

weak now, which is why I’m here to get the documents.”

Damien thought about it for a second. “Which hospital is she at?”

“Affiliated Hospital of Genovia Medical University. Our firms are near there. Do you want to go and see

her, President Lawrence? She really is hospitalized.” Rebecca was in utter disbelief.

She felt that Damien suspected Clarissa wasn’t injured at all, and that he thought Clarissa was only

making up excuses not to come and get the files. Then again, they were now divorced, and it was very

likely that Clarissa had cheated on him. She supposed things didn’t look good for Damien.
