Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 204

Chapter 204 The Money or Me? “But even if I sign, we can’t divorce unless he signs it,” Clarissa said,

staring at Connie. “Don’t worry about that. We’ll find a way,” Connie said with a smug grin. “Well?! Are

you signing it or not?”

“Fine, I’ll sign it.” Clarissa wanted to go home quickly. She was confident that Damien would never sign

it. However, what would she do if he did?

If that happened, then perhaps it was just their destiny.

Clarissa quickly signed her name on the divorce form. After that, she ran out of the warehouse as fast

as she could. In truth, she felt that there was nothing to worry about. Besides, she didn’t want Connie to

keep her locked up for too long. The longer it went on, the worse it would be for Connie.

Clarissa still had some compassion for Connie despite everything that had happened. She knew

Connie would use the divorce paper against her. Therefore, she wanted to get a head start and go

back early to get a say in the matter, all to keep Damien from calling the police. However, she returned

home to see Madelynn in the living room. She was holding the divorce paper that Clarissa had signed.

“Damien, your little wife’s planning to divorce you. Connie found this divorce form when she went to

visit her aunt tonight. Look, Clarissa signed it herself! Maybe she couldn’t tell you in person, so she

wrote this first and planned to give it to you sometime later,” Madelynn lied with a straight face, not a

smidgen of shame on her.

Madelynn had been watching Damien’s family very closely recently. She knew Joseph and his father

had come to visit them last night. She wanted to pass a message to Damien and tell him that Clarissa

was distracted by Joseph’s visit, hence Clarissa’s desire for a divorce.

Madelynn was using the divorce form Clarissa had signed only moments ago. She rushed to see

Damien as soon as she could, planning to use the paper to drive a wedge between the couple.

Damien might sign the paper out of rage and refuse to listen to Clarissa’s explanation. As a result,

Clarissa wouldn’t be able to defend herself.

Connie clearly didn’t visit Theresa tonight, but…

Clarissa recalled her uncle’s illness again, and she didn’t have the heart to be angry at Connie.

Connie and her family probably knew that Clarissa would be soft-hearted. They were confident that

Clarissa wouldn’t tell Damien about the kidnapping.

They were clearly taking advantage of Clarissa’s kindness.

If Clarissa told Damien that Connie had kidnapped her, Damien might get furious and call the police. If

that happened, Connie might be jailed for her kidnapping attempt. Since Connie was the only daughter

in her family and the only one who could support her ailing father, Clarissa couldn’t let Connie rot in

prison.

“You wrote this?” Damien said, holding up the piece of paper. His face was frosty.

“Yes,” Clarissa replied. Inwardly, she was racking her brain for a solution.

However, Madelynn took the lead and left her with no other choice. Try as she might, Clarissa couldn’t

explain herself easily.

“Why…?”

“My brother… Luke’s getting engaged. Emily demanded five hundred thousand dollars from him. I Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

know Emily isn’t coming after my mom… She’s after you. I’m just a burden to you. I thought if I

divorced you, Luke would stop being delusional,” Clarissa explained. “That’s why I did it.” Madelynn

frowned immediately, not expecting this turn of events. How did Connie do her job? How could she not

know about Luke’s demand for money?

“You’re divorcing me for fear of dragging me down?” Damien’s expression softened.

“Well… Our family’s too much of a burden to you,” Clarissa said.

Theresa warned Clarissa not to tell Damien about Luke’s engagement. Clarissa never thought that she

would eventually be forced to spill the beans to Damien, and it was all thanks to Connie.

Besides, doing this was much better than directly asking Damien for money.

Clarissa was so kind! She wanted to divorce Damien because she didn’t want to drag him down. That

would definitely move Damien’s heart.

In truth, Clarissa didn’t want this to happen. She didn’t want to manipulate Damien’s feelings, but she

had no choice. “Is five hundred thousand dollars a lot?” Damien sat on the couch, crossing his legs.

“Well, it’s a lot to me.” Clarissa pinched her palm. “Does money matter more than me?” he asked,

staring at Clarissa. “Of course, it’s…” Clarissa raised her hand and pointed at Damien. “You!” Damien

almost smiled. He rubbed his chin and asked again, “If I’m so important, why would you give me up for

five hundred thousand dollars?” “… I just thought I don’t deserve that much,” Clarissa said.

Madelynn paled instantly. This went beyond her calculations!

“In that case, shouldn’t you ask Luke about it?” Madelynn felt that Clarissa had made this up on the

spot. Since Clarissa wouldn’t tell anyone that Connie had kidnapped her earlier, she made up an

excuse. Besides, Clarissa and Luke didn’t get along well. Never in a million years would Luke help

Clarissa!
