Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 191
Chapter 191 It Had Been a Long Time Since She’d Said “Dad”
“D-Damien, you…” Madelynn held a hand to her face, stunned into shock,
She was aware of how close he was with Grandpa Lawrence, but she never expected him to actually
slap her.
“Get out! Also, return the house at Southern Paradise to me! Have the key delivered to my company at
once.”
A humiliated Madelynn fled right after she heard those words.
She returned to the car, feeling infuriated.
“How did it go?” Connie asked, looking expectant.
Madelynn gave Connie a slap, one even louder and harder than the one Damien had given her.
She was a celebrity, yet she had to endure getting slapped by Damien. Why couldn’t her assistant, who
had given her such a dumb idea, endure a slap from her?
Connie’s face burned from the pain. She held a hand to her cheek and bit her lip hard as tears of
humiliation streamed down her face.
“It’s all your fault for coming up with such a dumb idea!” Madelynn raged, screeching at the top of her
lungs. “I bet you’re a spy Clarissa sent to set me up!”
“I’m not!” Connie’s voice was low, but her tone was firm.
“You better not be! Otherwise, I’ll make sure you die an ugly death. You won’t be getting a bonus this
month unless you can think of a way to make Clarissa and Damien get divorced immediately!”
Madelynn crossed her arms over her chest, seething.
A wave of ruthlessness washed over Connie. ‘Forget just Clarissa, I’ll make sure both you and her
suffer!
Clarissa helped Grandpa Lawrence back to his room.
Later, Damien went to check on his grandfather before returning to the living room.
He knew Grandpa Lawrence had been putting up an act, but he was still worried about the elderly
man’s health,
He lit a cigarette
Meanwhile, in Grandpa Lawrence’s room…
“Clary, how was my acting?” he asked Clarissa.
“Grandpa, you.” Clarissa’s heart almost leapt out of her chest. She was terrified something
had happened to him.
“I used to be part of my school’s drama club when I was younger. I did that on purpose to make
Damien angry so that he and Madelynn would get into a fight. It’s the only way to stop her from sowing
discord between you two. She already thinks she’s the matriarch of this family.”
Clarissa didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
Grandpa Lawrence suddenly became serious. “I didn’t know about Damien’s cornea transplant, though.
He didn’t tell me about it, probably because he didn’t want me and his grandmother to worry. He’s
always kept these things to himself, so you need to care more about him.”
“Yeah, I know,” she said. Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.
Clarissa felt that though Grandpa Lawrence put on a happy appearance, it was obvious that his health
was deteriorating.
After all, he had lung cancer.
“There’s another thing.” He pulled out a small notebook from his bedside table. “This is the phone
number for Damien’s parents. I want you to call them and ask them to come back to this country. They
can’t stay out there forever, can they? Even if Damien doesn’t allow them to return, they should still
come back to see me, at the very least.”
“Damien doesn’t allow them to return?” Clarissa asked. He truly was a control freak!
Look, he was even controlling his own parents!
She couldn’t help feeling sad at the thought of Grandpa Lawrence knowing that he didn’t have much
time left.
Clarissa looked at the notebook. The phone number for Damien’s parents, Patrick Lawrence and
Vanessa McKinney, was written there.
“Doesn’t Damien know their number?” she asked Grandpa Lawrence.
“He doesn’t want to know. Let’s not talk about it.” He waved a dismissive hand. “It’s all because of
something bad that happened in the past. Even if Damien doesn’t want them to come back, I don’t
think I can hold out for much longer.”
“Then… Should I call them now?” Clarissa asked.
There were already tears in her eyes.
“Go ahead. Damien will never make this call, and they won’t come back if I’m the one calling. They’re
ashamed to see me.”
Clarissa dialed Patrick’s number, feeling a little anxious.
Soon, someone answered the phone.
“Hello?” A man’s voice rang out on the other end of the line.
“Hello…” Suddenly, Clarissa didn’t know how she should introduce herself. “Umm, I’m Damien’s wife.
My name’s Clarissa. I suppose this means that I’m your daughter-in-law… Dad.”
It had been ages since Clarissa had last addressed someone this way.
