Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 175
Chapter 175 Don’t Have the Guts?
“This is the money you gave me before. I still owe you 930 thousand dollars,” Clarissa said.
Damien put the card aside. “What do you mean by this? Do you want to end the contract?”
“No. Anyway, Grandpa’s sick, so we can’t end it. My mother found out about our contract marriage, and
she told me to give the money back to you. She said that a person’s feelings are very precious, and
they can’t be measured using money. I don’t want the rest of the money.” Clarissa sat down on the bed
and wrapped her arms around her knees. She lowered her head and laughed, and then said, “I might
be dirt-poor compared to you, but I still have feelings at the very least. Don’t l?”
As she laughed, she suddenly started to cry.
“So, everything you gave up is just going to go to waste? You used to be a virgin, and now… Don’t you
regret it?” Damien asked.
“My mom’s right. I have to retain the last of my dignity when we get divorced. At least…”
“At least what?” Damien lit a cigarette.
“At least I got to know you when I was innocent and naive.” Clarissa laughed again.
Damien’s hand stilled. “You’re going to act like you don’t know me because you’re not with
me?”
“Not like this. To me, you’re the almighty president of a corporation. There’s no way anything would’ve
happened between us. I’ve never regretted getting to know you, though. In fact, I felt quite happy some
time ago.”
“Some time ago? When?” Damien took a drag of his cigarette and leaned against the bed.
His torso was bare. He turned to look at Clarissa, and they chatted while sitting on the bed. Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
“Well… Before the thing with Joseph happened. I thought you were a good person, and I even thought
it’d be rather cruel for us to get divorced. I didn’t want to leave you,” she said sincerely.
She looked pitiful, with the way she was forcing a smile through her tears.
“You know now, don’t you? Didn’t you already eavesdrop on our conversation?” he asked.
“I still can’t quite see through you.”
“Continue looking, then.” He gazed at her, his tone a little teasing. There was also a hint of seriousness
to his words.
“Everyone hopes they can be with their partner forever when they get married. Our situation, though…”
Clarissa looked like she was one step away from giving up. “Anyway, you don’t like me.”
“No, I don’t.”
Clarissa curled her lip. It’s fine if you don’t like me, but you don’t need to be so blunt about
“I know you like Madelynn.”
“No, it’s not her.” Damien was almost done with his cigarette. “You know that I had a cornea transplant,
right? Before the operation, a girl would always wait for me in the pantry. I can’t forget the scent of
sandalwood that was always on her.”
He stared at her.
‘Wait, isn’t that me?’
Was his true love actually her?
Clarissa turned to look into Damien’s eyes. She wanted to see whether he was lying.
Her heart was racing.
His appearance was bewitching; his sharp jaw, deep-set eyes, his Adam’s apple…
Clarissa even had the urge to kiss him.
But she just leaned forward a little before stopping. She didn’t dare to continue.
She was about to lean back when Damien put an arm around her neck.
“Don’t have the guts?” he asked. “I’m your man, so what do you have to fear? Kiss me.”
Clarissa licked her lips, her face flushed and her heart pounding in her chest.
Her breathing sped up.
Finally, she took the initiative to press her lips on Damien’s.
That night, they were particularly wild in bed.
The wall that had been built between them because of Joseph had basically broken down.
The next day, during breakfast.
Clarissa deliberately got herself an egg to see whether Damien would eat the yolk for her.
As expected, he took the yolk without saying anything.
At noon, she and Lily went out for lunch. They had just got to the main entrance when they saw Connie
entering.
This surprised Clarissa, who turned around instinctively.
Connie had probably left Pentatone County and come back to work now that their grandmother’s
illness was under control.
She would probably cause trouble for Clarissa and tell Damien about running into Joseph
at the hospital
However, Clarissa had just turned around when her head knocked into something
She held her head, willing the pain away,
When she looked up, she saw that it was Damien He was rubbing his jaw
“What‘s wrong?” he asked,
“Connie’s here. I was afraid that she’d tell you tales,” she said,
“What sort of tales?” he asked,
Connie saw Damien and Clarissa standing together, but she merely glanced at them before leaving
It was as if she couldn’t be bothered by them.
She had just come back from Pentatone County, When she had gone to Luke’s house, he and Emily
were having sex in the living room. Connie happened to catch them in the act,
Emily had flown into a rage. She kicked Connie out, and the two of them had gotten into a fight. Emily
threw all of Connie’s things out of the house, and the whole neighborhood witnessed that
Luke hadn’t said a word throughout the whole debacle,
How could Connie possibly be in the mood to do anything to Clarissa?
“I’m going to have lunch.” After that, Clarissa and Lily left,
Before Clarissa could mention anything to Damien, though, Joseph came to look for him
That afternoon, in Damien’s office,
Joseph slammed a check worth one million dollars in front of Damien,
