Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 141
Chapter 141 I Want to Look for You
Grandpa Lawrence happened to be painting a traditional painting in his room, since it was still early in
the morning.
“Grandpa Lawrence, I’m here to greet you,” Madelynn said.
“Oh. You’re here, Maddie? Have fun chatting with Damien in the living room. I won’t be joining you
youngsters,” Grandpa Lawrence said with a smile.
“Aww, Grandpa Lawrence! There’s no need to be a stranger! To tell you the truth, the reason 1 came
here today is because I’m trying to convince Damien to invest in my movie, but he turned me down.”
Madelynn pretended to look very disappointed.
“Are you trying to get me to help you out?” Grandpa Lawrence’s smile widened.
“No, I don’t want to force you into a difficult spot,” Madelynn replied with a smile. She noticed a bottle of
pills sitting on the desk near Grandpa Lawrence. The bottle was labeled Betaloc.
Just like any other elderly person, Grandpa Lawrence relied on medicine to extend his lifespan.
Since Madelynn was a seasoned actress, she knew a lot of things by default. Hence, she knew that
Betaloc was meant to treat heart failure.
“Well then. I’ll be leaving now, Grandpa Lawrence,” she said. Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.
“All right.” Grandpa Lawrence paid her no mind and continued painting.
After Madelynn left his room, she continued chatting with Damien. “Why don’t you go to the studio with
me this Sunday, Damien? Then you can decide if you want to invest or not.”
“Sunday? I have other plans on that day.” Damien had already made an appointment to discuss the
problems of a potential project with another client beforehand.
Madelynn pouted, pretending to be hurt. “I guess we’ll talk about this the next time we meet.”
In the afternoon, Clarissa returned and placed a bunch of keys in front of Damien
Damien could recognize them. Those were the keys to the new house he had bought for Theresa.
“What’s wrong?” He lifted his head to look at Clarissa.
“Mom said she doesn’t want the house. Why would you give us such expensive things for no reason?
Mom specifically called me today and asked me to return the keys to you,” Clarissa explained. “She
can’t control Luke, anyway. Besides, now that Luke has moved into his new house, she has a valid
reason to return to our old house and live there. You don’t have to worry about her.”
When Damien noticed how hard Clarissa worked in concealing the truth while trying to protect his pride
at the same time, he was reminded by the sheer contrast of Madelynn and her mother’s greed. Those
clashing thoughts made him all emotional.
“This house is worth a lot more than five million dollars, you know?” Damien said. “Don’t you want more
money?”
In the past, he also thought that Clarissa was a materialistic woman.
“We still can’t accept it. We strive to earn money with our own hands. The fortune of other people isn’t
to be lusted after,” Clarissa replied while folding her clothes in the room.
“Are you worried that once you start taking them, you won’t know when to stop? Are you worried you
won’t be able to pay off your debt?” Damien pressed on
Clarissa’s eyes went dull. She had long known that there would come a day when she and Damien
would be separated. Thus, there was no reason to extort more money from him.
“We’ll be separated sooner or later,” she replied.
“Will you miss me?”
Clarissa didn’t respond to Damien at all. Instead, her eyes started reddening. Despite her naivete,
Clarissa knew it was impossible to meet a boss as generous as Damien in the future.
“Come here.” Damien beckoned at Clarissa gently from the couch.
He didn’t go to work today, so he was wearing a casual outfit at that time.
Clarissa looked at him in confusion. When she remembered how he had acted in bed last night, all she
could think was how unpredictable his mood swings were.
She had no idea that Damien’s mind was filled with conflicting thoughts.
“What is it?” Clarissa sat on his lap nervously.
Damien planted his lips onto her cheek lightly.
“Did you go through a transformation after skipping a day’s work?” Clarissa asked.
“At least my gender stays the same, if that reassures you,” Damien joked back, a light smile gracing his
face.
“You…” Clarissa was speechless after hearing that strange answer. “I can never beat you in a debate,
huh?”
“You also can’t outdo me in bed, if you know what I mean,” Damien added.
The thought of Damien being so open and unhinged in front of Clarissa made her heartbeat escalate.
“Stop being so shameless.” Her expression turned serious. Clearly, she didn’t take him seriously.” What
did you do at home today? Were you resting the whole day because of the exhausting night?”
“Madelynn dropped by today and talked to me about an investment.”
Clarissa’s chest started heaving rapidly. “I knew it! Go look for her, then! I bet you two slept together in
the past!”
After that, she tried to get up from Damien’s lap.
However, the latter quickly pinned her on the couch. Then, he started stripping her bare while planting
sloppy and heavy kisses all over her face.
“You’re the only one I want,” he breathed into her ear.
Over the past few days, Damien had been trying his best to readjust his mentality. Mainly, he was trying
to readjust his attitude toward Clarissa.
He couldn’t bear how much she stared at his eyes, not to mention how frequent she would make
shepherd’s pie for their meals. Now, he couldn’t even stand the sight of the umbrella that Clarissa
would always leave in his car.
He didn’t show the turmoil and conflict he had gone through, since everything took place in his mind.
When those emotions started fighting within him, he would pin Clarissa down and start ravaging her. It
was to prove that she was there as his wife, not a woman with a different purpose in mind…
