Love at the Door

Chapter 36

Chapter 36

It was so high. Melina could almost see her younger self lying

helplessly, watching her blood slowly drain away. Her breath became shallower, on the verge of suffocation.

Suddenly, someone grabbed her hand. She heard someone say

calmly, “I’m here. You’re alright.”

Was it Joe coming to save her?

Melina realized it was Andrew. The tightness in her chest loosened as if the air had been pumped back into her lungs. Melina gasped for breath. The fierce wind blew around her as the roller coaster flipped, spun, and raced through the air. She held onto Andrew’s hand tightly.

Andrew could feel her hands were sweaty. He was surprised that this fearless woman was afraid of heights.

He had known from the start that Louis had taken Melina. And he

knew Louis had no good intentions, but he hadn’t intervened. Sometimes, there was a need to allow a situation to escalate before stepping in and saving the day.

He only decided to show up when he saw the genuine fear in Melina’s eyes. He could easily stop the roller coaster, but he didn’t.

According to psychologists, helping someone overcome their fear would make them more dependent on you. It wasn’t a coincidence that he stepped in to save her. It was a calculated plot.

The only thing that caught him off guard was how severe Melina’s fear of heights was.

Melina was unaware of this. She could only hear her heartbeat over the roar of the wind. She didn’t know if it was fear or something else.

She glanced at the man beside her, dizzy and disoriented, but she

could only focus on the beauty spot in the corner of his eye.

It felt like an eternity, but eventually, the roller coaster stopped. Andrew unbuckled Melina’s safety harness and helped her up.

Her face was pale, drained of all color. She couldn’t even stand.

Andrew felt a pang of concern and immediately scooped her into his arms. Melina, trembling slightly, leaned against him like a fragile, broken doll.

Andrew had seen Melina full of energy, cry in resilience, and even smile cheerfully. But he had never seen her this fragile, as if all life. had been drained from her.

He wrapped his coat around her and held her tightly.

Andrew’s gaze turned sharp as he glared at the people around, sending chills down their spines.

Through her daze, Melina vaguely heard Andrew say in a chilling voice, “Do you all enjoy roller coasters?” Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

Louis and the others lowered their heads, too afraid to respond.

No one said a word. Andrew turned to his bodyguards and said, ” Since they love roller coasters, take them for a few more rides.”

Several black–suited bodyguards approached, fastening Louis and his friends into the seats, making sure their safety harnesses were secure. Even Louis was forced back into his seat, and no one was allowed to get off.

The spoiled and pampered kids began to panic.

None had ever imagined Andrew would stand up for Melina like this. No one had seen Andrew defend a woman other than Linda.

Melina was merely a maid.

“She’s just a maid!” Louis blurted out, unable to believe what was

happening. “Linda’s been sick, waiting for you to visit her!”

Andrew didn’t seem to hear him. His icy gaze pierced through them.” Start it.”

In an instant, the roller coaster roared back to life.

“Ahh! Help!”

“Mr. Wentworth, please! I can’t handle this. Let me off!”

“Mr. Wentworth, it was just a joke! We didn’t mean anything by it. It

was just a joke!”

“Please, let me down!”
