Chapter 171 Twist of Fate
Miranda stumbled out with tears in her eyes. She didn't expect to bump into someone and fall to the ground. "Miss, are you okay?" A gentle voice came from above.
Miranda looked up and saw an elegant man looking at her worriedly.
For some reason, she started to cry as she stared at him.
"Miss, are you hurt? I'll take you to the hospital!"
Miranda didn't say anything. She looked at the wound on her knee and cried silently.
She was so useless that she fell when walking.
Seeing that she did not speak, the man leaned over and picked her up.
Miranda was shocked.
"I'll take you to the hospital." The man put her in the passenger seat and fastened the seatbelt for her.
Then he walked around the car to the driver's seat and drove away.
"Miss, do you work here? Why haven't I seen you before?" The man's voice was pleasant and gentle. Miranda looked out of the window. The sky was gloomy, and it seemed that it was going to rain.
The man frowned and did not understand what was wrong with the girl.
"Uh... What happened to you? If you don't mind, I can be your listener."
Miranda looked out of the window. After a while, she said in a sad tone, "I'm useless..."
The man frowned and asked doubtfully, "Why do you say so?"
"I am willful and can't do anything. Even if I am the marketing manager, I don't know anything... If my boyfriend was here... he would be able to handle the job well..." Miranda explained as tears streamed down her face.
"Where is he?" the man asked in confusion. His beautiful eyes stared back at her.
Miranda chuckled, but it sounded sorrowful. "He went to heaven. I don't have anyone to talk to, and no one cares for me, protects me, and loves me." The sound of thunder and lightning could be heard from outside.
Miranda's tears fell even more fiercely. She stared at the dark clouds outside. Was Cecil watching her from above?
What should she do?
"Sorry. I don't know..."
"It's okay. It's not your fault," Miranda wiped her tears and said lightly, "You can leave me at the subway entrance in front. I don't want to go to the hospital. It's not a big deal."
"This can't do. We can't have a lady's looks spoiled from a fall," the man said and sighed, "Well, I believe there are no fools in the world, only people who work hard and don't. For example, I became blind seven years ago because of an accident. My company was at the peak of development, and you wouldn't imagine how hopeless I felt."
Miranda tilted her head and looked at him in shock.
A faint smile flashed across his eyes as he said, "Even so, I still haven't given up. Even if I couldn't see, I could put my company on the right track. I worked hard for it. How can I give up because I'm blind?"
Miranda listened quietly and asked nervously, "What happened next?"
"Two years later, I received a cornea donation and regained my eyesight..." The man sighed softly and said, "When I could see again, I thought of repaying the family of the donor. But I know that those who donate their corneas are..." His implications were clear without him finishing his sentence.
Only a dead person could donate their corneas!
"Did you find them?" Miranda asked.
Just then, they met a red light, and the car stopped.
The man stepped on the brake and looked at her. "You should know that information about organ donations are confidential. I used all my connections to inquire, but unfortunately... he seems to have no family..."Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.
"That's sad. So he was alone?" Miranda's heart ached.
"It seemed so. I could never repay the donor's kindness." The man's eyes were filled with sadness that seemed familiar to her.
Miranda burst into tears. "Is it true that good people don't live long? Why didn't he have a family?"
Seeing that she was crying, the man opened the drawer of the car and took out a tissue from it. "It's fine. Don't cry. Does your knee hurt?"
Miranda immediately glanced at the familiar book and took it out.
"Why do you have this book?" She frowned and looked at him.
"What's wrong? Do you know the author?" The man looked at her with inquiring eyes.
Miranda's hand, which was holding the book, was trembling. Her nose twitched, and she muttered, "He was a very talented person... and also a talented author..."
The man glanced at her and said, "Are you his fan? The person I just told you is him!"
Miranda was stunned. She looked at him in shock. "What did you say?"
The man looked at her again and said, "Didn't I just tell you that I went to find the donor? He is the author of this book!"
Thunder rang again.
And the rain poured heavily.
"It hurts... it hurts..." Miranda's eyebrows twisted together. Her mouth trembled, and she cried out in pain.
The man was shocked and quickly parked the car on the emergency lane. He looked at her knee and said, "What's wrong? Does it hurt? Let me have a look."
Miranda put her hand into her mouth and bit hard, and her tears kept falling.
Cecil...
Her Cecil was here.
The man raised his head and met her sad eyes. His heart could not help but twitch. "Miss, are you..."
Before he could finish his words, Miranda pulled him by his collar and kissed him.
It was raining outside.
Rosa stood in front of the window and looked at the traffic. She was worried about Miranda.
Had she gone too far with her words?
Taking out her phone, Rosa was ready to call Miranda.
Unexpectedly, her phone rang.
It was from Aunt Poppy.
"Miss, Hanna has a fever," Aunt Poppy said anxiously.
Rosa was stunned. "What's going on? Wasn't everything fine in the morning?"
"Yes, she was when you and Mr. Wright were with her this morning. And she was fine when she was at school. But she was running a fever in her first class. What should we do, Miss?" Aunt Poppy was anxious.
"Don't worry. I will go to kindergarten right away." Rosa was anxious and immediately hung up the phone.
She rushed to the door, gave Harmony a few words, and ran to the elevator.
However, she happened to run into Grace.
"Hmm? Where are you going?" Grace had makeup on and looked spirited.
Rosa ignored her and pressed the button of the elevator.
Grace's lips curled into a smile as she said, "Director Reborn, you're here to work, not to have fun, right? If our partner from England finds out..."
"Go and tell them on me!" Rosa glanced at Grace with disdain.
Grace was stunned, and the corner of her mouth twitched. She was a little confused. How could Rosa be so arrogant when skipping work?
Watching the elevator rise, Rosa
glanced at her and said with a smile,
"Grace, even if I am not in the
et
company, my working capacity is more than ten times yours. After all,
your degree won't do you much good here."
Grace was stunned and embarrassed. "Are you mocking my academic background?"
"Yes!" Rosa nodded and did not deny it. "You only graduated from primary school How could you understand something so high level? It must be exhausting to work for you, right?"
UMS
Rosa meant that Grace had someone working in Grace's place, making others think it was Grace's work.
Rosa hit Grace's sore spot, and Grace growled with a ferocious expression. "Rosa, you're just jealous of me. You're slandering me!"
Rosa looked at her, curled her lips, and said sarcastically, "What do you have for me to be jealous of? Your face, education background, family background, or figure?"
"I... I..." Grace was anxious and immediately raised her chest, which she was proud of.
With a ding, the elevator arrived.
Rosa walked in. Seeing that she left without saying a word, Grace felt that she had the upper hand and raised her head proudly.
Seeing this, Rosa sneered, "Grace, do you have a bad memory? I'm a cup bigger than you!"
Grace was speechless.
Rosa ignored her and closed the elevator door.
In the children's hospital in City C.
It was a famous children's hospital in City C. It was frequented by many parents with their kids from other cities.
Therefore, there were many people there.
They had two kinds of wards, ordinary and VIP.
And it had a hidden floor, specially provided for children of the rich.
Rosa had already known about it before she came, so she took Hanna into the building.
"Mom, am I getting an injection? I'm afraid..."
"Don't be afraid. We're just here to see the doctor." Rosa walked inside with Hanna in her arms.
The registration was easy. As long as one handed their card, the nurses would do everything for one.
Soon, it was their turn.
A nurse followed them during the medical examination, blood sampling, and diagnosis.
A while later.
"Mom, I want to sit here for a while!" Hanna felt a little tired.
"Okay. You sit here while I go get your medicines."
"Miss Lopez, go ahead. I will watch Hanna for you." The nurse that had been following them thought Hanna was really pretty.
"Okay. Thank you." Rosa immediately walked in and handed the perception to the doctor.
Hanna sat on a chair. She was not energetic or happy because she was running a fever and out of strength.
At this moment, a pleasant child's voice rang out. "Look! There's a pretty girl over there."
Danny tilted his head and saw Hanna sitting on the chair. His eyes lit up, and he ran to Hanna's side.
"Don't run around. Grandma will be angry if she knows. We will go home after the physical examination," Kasen reminded.
However, Danny ignored it and went straight to the doll-like Hanna. "Hello. You are so beautiful..." Hanna's eyes lit up as she looked at Danny. She could not help but grin and call out, "Hello."
