Chapter 27
Sofia Andrew
I woke up at six a.m. thanks to Amelia, who repeatedly rang the bell.
"Finally, my finger hurt! You know, you really need to give me a key."
I gave her a flat and sleepy look. "I was sleeping, Amelia. It's still early; didn't you sleep?"
She looked at me with a torn look on her face. "I slept with Isaac." With that, I was completely awoken.
"What?! How?!" I exclaimed in utter shock.
"Well, I know you have no experience, but I think you have an idea of how s*x works."
"No, you idiot. I meant, how did it happen? I didn't know you liked each other."
"We didn't have anything. Well, he's handsome and smart, and he's a complete package, but I thought he wasn't attracted to me until last night when I asked him to drop me off." "And what happened? Do not leave me hanging."
"He told me I looked beautiful and that he was annoyed because I was with Angel. He admitted he liked me, and one thing led to another."
I let her words sink in. "Who would have thought? Not me."
"Me too, friend. Do you remember how we were talking about how good he looked in a suit?" She asked and bit her lip, and I nodded. "Well, what's underneath is even more good."
I laughed at her face because she was red and she looked thoroughly... loved. "Really? Look at your face."
"Your friend has a good physique, and he knows how to use his skills." Amelia continued with a squeal.
"Wow. At least you had a good night."
"One of the greatest!" Amelia dreamily said.
"So what happens now?"
"Well, I still don't know. When I woke up, I ran from my house, and I came here."
"To wake me up this early and tell me about your crazy night."
"Okay. Enough of that. How about you? How was your night?"
I blew out a huge breath. "Nothing new. We ate dinner, and I slept here."
"And what do you think about his proposal?"
"It was great, but I just think that this isn't the right time for that."
"Of course, especially when you're the owner's wife, right?" she said, glaring angrily at me.
I blinked innocently at her. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"You're really going to lie to my face? And I thought we told each other everything," Amelia said in disappointment.
"Amelia..."
"Don't deny it, Sofia. Angel already told me about it."
How?
"Since when did you have that much trust in each other to eat dinner together and even share secrets?"
She sent me a teasing look. "Jealous? Angel invited me to a dinner with the excuse of the company, but I later found out that he just wanted to get some information out of me." "Information about what?"
"First, it was about the university, then about Kevin, and do you know what's strange?"
"Lately, everything about Angel is strange."
"I told him that he crushed your heart when you saw him kissing Elisa," she blurted out, and I smacked her arm.
""Why did you do that?!"
"That's not the point, but he looked confused, and it looked like he had no idea about the kiss. We also talked about the rumor that Kevin spread."
"He has been asking me about that, and I don't understand. What did you tell him? But I know everyone knows about it."
"Who knows? But I can tell you one thing. I was right when I thought he liked you. Is there anything you want to tell me?"
"Angel changed ever since he kissed me," I confessed to her, and it was her turn to push me.
"Why didn't you tell me? Is there any more kissing?"
"I thought it would go away, but no.
"And I don't see why it will. As you told me, he's a good kisser."
"It was amazing and it was not enough. I swear he leaves me breathless and on cloud nine. But not only that, not long ago, he acted like he was jealous, and yesterday with Isaac as well. If only you saw his face, he was so angry when I mentioned Isaac's traits compared to him, and I'm not sure why I'm still alive.
"Why are you punishing the poor man? But even I noticed that when you came to the restaurant with Isaac, his face changed, and it was so scary."
"He's also asking strange questions about my past, what happened to Kevin, and things about my dad. When I mentioned Dad, his face darkened." I shut my eyes, remembering how his mood changed last night. "Didn't you ask him?"
"Of course I did. I also told him we needed to talk, but he was avoiding me. He told me he needs to do something before we talk."
"One thing's clear: Angel doesn't want people to know that you're no longer his wife and you're free again."
"And he needs to thank his beloved girlfriend, sister, and mother for that."
"Of course, they are his family. That man will never believe you. On the other hand, it's also because you two never sat and talked about things."
"I visited his company yesterday, and it looked so beautiful and huge. I also saw his designs, and I fell in love with this one car he designed until I found out it was inspired by a woman, and you already know who it is."Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.
Amelia made a face. "What is it about that witch that blinded Angel? Do you think she performed some sort of love spell? You can expect anything from that woman."
"Yesterday when we argued, he told me that she isn't his girlfriend, but if she isn't, what did he do with her then? What are they? He also told me he didn't break the contract, so I need to respect t as well. He thought that Isaac and I had something, and I didn't deny it." Amelia shook her head at me. "You two have so many misunderstandings."
"I just don't understand how his mind works. He saw Isaac and me in my office looking nervous, and his mind made up a scenario that we have a relationship when in reality, I was just nervous about how the hell he got past the security and for him to know that I own Let-Tech." "If it's Angel, anything is possible. He's a man with chams, and if he can blind the owner with it, what more the receptionist and secretaries?"
"Yes, that's true," I remember how he acted last night, and my cheeks heated up. "He told me something strange while we were in his company."
"What did he tell you that made you look like a tomato?"
"Just stupid things as usual, but he acted differently. He was concerned, and I don't understand him."
"Maybe he got tired of the fact that he likes you, and he's finally admitting his feelings after seeing you sign the paper and show no care. I don't know; who knows for sure?"
"But it's driving me crazy. What's the use of sitting down and talking? The idea of Elisa going around saying that she'll be the next Mrs. Leffman bothers me. Even if, after five years of marriage, Angel rarely talked to me."
"You are in love, and something tells me that it will remain that way. Now, the question is if he feels the same or not."
I snorted and shook my head. "No, of course not. I'm sure he's only bothered and concerned because I know his secret, and he knows mine."
"What secret out of all that you have? Because I don't think it's because you're the owner of Let-Tech."
"No, but he knows that I am the owner of Lee Andrew's."
Her mouth hangs open. "What? When? How did he know, and why am I only finding out now? We're best friends, and we're supposed to tell each other everything." Amelia sulked with a pout.
"There's just so many things that happened lately, you know? The divorce, Elisa's comeback, Alexis, and now he found out I'm the owner of Lee Andrew's. Dad said that he believed in me to lead the company. Then the rumor, and Angel bothering me. He's making me feel things, and he's driving me insane!" I groaned and threw my hands in the air.
"Can I ask you a simple question?"
"Yes, even though you never really ask simple questions."
"Did he just kiss you, or is there something more that you didn't tell me?"
"There is nothing more, and it was just a kiss. Sometimes, he stares at me like he wants to eat me, but then his mood changes and he looks like he wants to kill me. I swear he's bipolar or something. I even suggested that he should have his head checked." Amelia let out a loud laugh. "What did he say?"
"Of course, he didn't want to. He told me we'd talk, but until now, we haven't had the chance to."
"But friend, you two really need it after five years. It's only natural for you to know why he hates you, and if that woman is involved, I'm sure she can invent anything horrible."
"I think so too."
I popped my lips and straightened them up. "Okay, enough of Angel. We have new designs for Andrew and Leffman, and we don't have time to waste."
Amelia groaned in disagreement. "Sofia, it's the weekend and we have no work. You need to breathe so you can think. It's time to maybe unwind-wait, no, we can't because your aunt has an event."
"Just imagining all the questions I'll get asked depletes my excitement. They are technically not just gossip, but I still hate answering them."
"Then ignore them. Remember that you are Sofia Andrew, a powerful and empowered queen. You'll always know how to handle them."
After that, she practically pushed me to move so we could go shopping. She insisted that I buy the most beautiful dress and that I change my hairstyle. I had my hair cut a little before I loved it long, and they highlighted it.
When it's done, Amelia stares at me and claps. "You look gorgeous, friend. If Angel sees you, he'll leave that witch for sure."
When we were done, I received a call from an unknown number.
""Hello?"
"Miss Andrew, are you ignoring me after our last meeting?"
Of course. Alexis, the pervert, just had to remind me of his existence.
"Oh, what a surprise that the devil hasn't taken you yet."
He chuckled, and it made my skin crawl. "Because we are not done yet, and your time is ticking."
"Honestly, I have all the time in the world, but I won't waste even a minute of it on a scum like you."
"Ah, so you really want to see your beloved behind bars and ruined, right?"
"Why don't you just do it and let's see how it will turn out? If you win because my husband broke your face, or if I win because you tried to molest me,"
"You are more stubborn than I thought, but don't tell me that I didn't warn you. I'm giving you two more days to think. Just a night with me, Sofia, so you will know how it feels to be with a man and not a rich boy who doesn't see your worth."
"No, thanks. I prefer that rich boy because he makes me feel something that no one else can." With that, I hung up and made a face.
"What's with the face? What happened?"
"Alexis. That's what happened."
Amelia scrunched up her face. "That waste of space is still alive?"
"I need Isaac to find all the information he can on that idiot. I want to beat him before he can sue Angel."
"You know he can't really ruin you two. If it's already hard to beat one, what more if it's you two?"
"I don't want to risk it anyway. That guy is capable of doing anything. We better go because we still need to get ready."
"I'll go home first. I'll leave you to meet your boyfriend. Make yourself the prettiest because now you'll show yourself with a boyfriend." Amelia teased me.
"Remember that I am married, and all the people at the party know that."
"And remember that some of them also know about the divorce, so some men will probably pester you, so you better show up with a boyfriend."
"I don't want a boyfriend. Thank you very much."
I went home and prepared for the party. As I look at the dress, I can't believe how Amelia convinced me to buy it. It is a black dress with a deep V-neckline and a crossed back that shows almost my entire back. The dress just stops a few inches above my knees. I half-updo my hair and put on light makeup that highlights my eyes. I completed my look with gold heels and accessories.
And as I look at myself in the mirror, I can confidently say that I look like a goddess.
"I need to look like this just in case I will face people who love to gossip," I muttered and rolled my eyes.
I heard the bell ring, which surprised me, and I thought it was Amelia because she didn't want me to go alone.
"I'm coming! Don't break my bell!" I said and opened the door, just to be stunned to see Angel.
"Angel?"
He looked breathtaking in an elegant all-black three-piece suit, with his sleek black hair combed back, that piercing look, and his manly smell.
Good God, Sofia, breathe. But if he looks at me like that, how can I?
"I see that you're ready," he finally said, giving me a once-over.
"Yes, but what are you doing here?"
"To accompany you to your aunt's event," he replied like it was obvious.
"And who told you that?"
"Sofia, let's not argue. Do you want to go there by yourself or with someone?" He asked me with a look of impatience.
"If you'll show up there in that mood, it's better if you don't. I can face them on my own."
"I don't doubt that."
I turned to look for my bag because I wanted to leave, and when I turned back to him, I saw how his face had worsened.
"What now?" I asked, and he gave me a blank look. "You look like you're in a bad mood."
"I am not in a bad mood, Sofia," he denied, and he stared deep into my eyes. "It's cold, so you better cover yourself with a jacket or something."
He's not serious, is he?
"Angel, it's hot tonight."
"I'm just saying that you look a bit... revealing."
"Does it bother you?"
He frowned in distaste. "I'm just saying that many people will probably stare at you."
"Angel, I like what I'm wearing, and it makes me feel good. Do you think it looks bad on me?"
"No, not at all. If you won't change, at least put on a jacket," he said in his commanding tone.
"No, I like it like this," I insisted, and he threw me a deadly glare. "But if I get cold, then you can let me borrow yours."
I walked past him, and his smell invaded my nostrils. I could still feel his heavy stare on my back.
Oh, the night will be long.
