Chapter 10 Make a Deal
Calm down, calm down…
The Baldwins had already grown a murderous intent towards her. If Eudora rushed in now, she would
turn against them completely, which would only make them become more eager to get rid of her.
Although the Baldwins were not as powerful as the Steeles, killing someone like Eudora wouldn't be
difficult for them.
Besides, Eudora still had to take her adoptive parents into consideration. If something happened to her,
they would be desperate.
The Baldwins were truly malicious!
Eudora clenched her fists, her eyes turning red with anger. But in the end, she took a deep breath,
suppressing her overwhelming rage, and turned to go downstairs.
She waited sitting on the sofa until Yvette and Alva came downstairs as well.
"Eudora, we can’t give you 10 million, but Mommy and Daddy said we could give you this much. We do
need something from you, though. You must transfer the ownership of your account on the food
delivery platform to me, and leave Kenison City with your adoptive parents."
Alva looked at Eudora arrogantly and put a check in front of her.
Eudora took a glance. A total of one million.
Eudora slowly raised her gaze, which was filled with cold anger. She stared at Alva, then turned to
Yvette with a sneer. "You think you can buy the identity of Colbert Steele's wife from me with just one
million? Impressive!"
"You should be grateful! One million is more than what you and your adoptive parents could ever get in
a lifetime," Alva said angrily.
"Forget about our lifetime. I can make sure you never become Mrs. Steele in your lifetime!" Eudora
responded coldly.
"You... you...!" Yvette shook her head with disdain. "How could I have ever given birth to someone like
you? You're a disgrace!"
"We can offer you two million at most, Eudora."
"That will do. But for two million, I can only give my account to you."
"No! You must also leave the city!"
"Oh yeah? Then I think we're done here." Eudora turned to leave.
Alva panicked when she saw Eudora walking away, "Okay, fine!"
Eudora got what she wanted, but she wasn't happy at all. "I don't want the check. I want you to transfer
the money to my account and make a written statement that this is compensation for my bone marrow
donation to Giles Baldwin."
Eudora wouldn't let them play any dirty tricks.
They would likely report to the police that they had mistakenly transferred two million to her account as
soon as Alva had taken control of Eudora's food delivery app account.
The police would immediately demand the return of the money, and Eudora would be left with nothing.
"How dare you make such a request!" Yvette exclaimed.
Eudora put on a cold smile. "If you don't want to, I won't force you."
"Forget it, Mommy. Let's do as she said!"
In order to marry Colbert and live a happy life ever after, Alva could only agree to Eudora's terms.
After signing a compensation agreement, Eudora transferred her food delivery app account to Alva,
who immediately changed all the personal info in that account.
The delivery order that night was not delivered to the customer, so the account actually could not prove
that Eudora had saved Colbert. At best, it could make the Baldwins nervous.
After all, the name left with the hospital was ‘Alva Baldwin’, the surveillance footage was deleted, and
the Steele’s ring was brought to Colbert by Alva as well.
But now that the account was given to Alva, it became strong proof that it was Alva who had ‘saved’
Colbert.
"After your adoptive father recovers, you'd better leave the city immediately." Alva took on a superior
attitude as soon as she changed the account info, "You don’t belong here."
The way she said it made it sound like the entire Kenison City was the Baldwins' territory.
Eudora's face turned cold. She glanced at the two of them and left without saying anything more.
Instead of going to the hospital to visit her adoptive parents, Eudora took a taxi back to her hometown. © 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
At the local police station, Eudora inquired about the car accident her parents had and learned that the
hit-and-run driver had not been caught.
Eudora was suspicious and asked about the details of that day, as well as the license plate number of
the vehicle involved. She secretly recorded the conversation.
Later that day, Eudora returned to Kenison City and contacted a trustworthy private detective agency,
providing a down payment of $20,000 with the lead on the hit-and-run driver. She asked them to
investigate her adoptive parents' car accident.
The Baldwins were despicable and ruthless, and she had to find a way to uncover the truth and make
the real culprits face justice.
But meanwhile, Colbert was out to get her, and the Baldwins also wanted to hurt her. Eudora needed to
have money on hand to secure a way out for herself.
That was why Eudora agreed to the Baldwins' offer of two million in exchange for the ownership of her
food delivery account.
Eudora knew that if she asked for too much money and challenged the Baldwins' limits, the only way
out for her would be death.
After dealing with everything, Eudora dragged her exhausted body back to her apartment. Yet just then,
she ran into Colbert's assistant, Corey.
"Miss Stanford, Mr. Steele is waiting for you."
