I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin)

Chapter 323

Lily Came

Benjamin didn't dodge at all and kept looking straight into Harper's eyes.

He said in a low voice, "If the competition has affected your mood, your thoughts, and our relationship, I feel there is really no need for you to take part in it."

"Are you threatening me?" Harper asked indifferently.

Benjamin said, "This is not a threat but a reminder. You are pregnant now. Getting angry is not good for you and the baby. I will give you some time to think about it, okay?"

"Is it bad for the baby, or is it bad for both me and the baby?"

Harper showed a smile, which was almost invisible.

Benjamin said with displeasure, "Do you think I asked you to quit the competition because of the baby?"

"Didn't you?"

"Harper, even without the baby, I wouldn't allow you to participate in this competition if you were like this."

"Benjamin, it's true that this competition is organized by the Martin Group, but the candidates all rely on their own abilities. You asked me to withdraw from the competition before I even started. Are you really doing this for my own good, or are you afraid that my participation in the competition will be bad for the baby, so you just make up a noble excuse?"

Despite Harper's awareness that Benjamin had become nearly submissive to her since learning of her pregnancy, she couldn't shake the profound heartache when this reminder was starkly reiterated.

The unaccountable grief in her heart overwhelmed her.

As they argued, the atmosphere became increasingly tense.

Benjamin was very persistent, but Harper didn't back down.

His meaning was straightforward, and her attitude was clear.

Eventually, the argument stopped because Benjamin's cell phone rang. He walked to the window to answer the call with a stern look, but Harper didn't listen carefully. He had come over at this hour, apparently to pick her up from work, so instead of continuing her work, she turned off the computer and organized her files.

After the call, Benjamin returned to

the desk. Looking at her, he said domineeringly, "Harper, I've reminded you many times that you'd better keep your distance from Frank. He is not a simple-minded person and is not as good as you think."

Harper frowned, not knowing why he suddenly mentioned the topic again. She said, "Did you come here to check on me and warn me about my freedom to make friends? If so now you have finished speaking, and you can leave."

"Benjamin, what do you want from me? Do you expect me to be a puppet under your control? If so, I'm sorry, but that's not going to happen."

"Harper!"

Harper's words were weak, but her determination and stubbornness could not be ignored.

The topic did not continue. Benjamin and Harper left the office together and walked out of the company. There was no more conversation until they got in the car. They returned to the apartment in silence.

Angie had already got dinner ready. Seeing that they were not in a good mood, she casually mentioned it to Lily after going back to the Martin ManonLily immediately asked the driver to take her to the apartment.

This was the first time that Lily had come here. Due to Eleanor's physical condition, she had not yet formally met her.

Although it was a little late, she still specially prepared gifts.

When Lily knocked on the door, Harper and Benjamin were stunned.

Benjamin frowned. "Why are you here?"

"I came to visit Harper and Eleanor. Why? You can come, but I can't?" Lily glared at him and entered with the gifts.

Hearing this, Harper immediately stood up and walked over. "Lily, why didn't you tell me you were coming? Have you eaten?" "Yes. Don't worry about me. I am here to visit you and Eleanor."Original from NôvelDrama.Org.

"Grandma is in the opposite apartment. Shall I take you there now?"

"Don't be in a hurry. Have dinner first. May I take a look around?" Lily asked softly. Harper nodded in agreement.
