I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin)

Chapter 299

Compensation

Benjamin asked, "Don't you know that?"

Harper said, "I'm afraid I misjudged."

Especially after her conversation with Frank, she questioned herself a bit.

Benjamin stared intensely at her and said in a gentle voice, "Harper, in fact, you know very well that the Mitchell Group is too dependent on the outside world. Its mode of operation is too outdated, and it has not been innovative, so it can only lose money. Their approach is not long-term at all. So, is your judgment wrong or right?"

Harper was slightly stunned, her eyelids subconsciously fluttering lightly. Benjamin was saying exactly what she was thinking.

She stopped talking. Benjamin asked, "Do you need me to accompany you to the Mitchell Manor?"

Harper shook her head and said, "No."

Jack and Jennifer shouldn't need her at the moment, and her going over there would only upset them.

The thing about the Mitchell family was that it was listed all night on all the major forums.

The Mitchell Manor was lit up all night, and no one could sleep.

Jack sat in the living room smoking one cigarette after another. Jennifer cried several times and asked, "Jack, why don't we just go to the Martin Manor and ask Sir Martin for help?"

Jack shook his head. His voice sounded as if he had completely lost confidence. "It's useless. The Mitchell Group has too many problems and owes too much debt. It's useless..."

He repeated it twice, causing Jennifer to shed tears.

Jennifer said emotionally, "You always say it is useless. How do you know if you don't try? It's Harper's fault. She's the one who's useless. It's all her fault."

"Enough! You're so annoying. Could you please leave me alone?" Jack coldly interrupted Jennifer before driving out the door.

It was dark outside, and all that was left at the Mitchell Manor was Jennifer and Kimberly.

Kimberly tried many ways. She actually called the Martin Manor right away, but Gordon answered the phone. Gordon said Paul wasn't feeling well and that he should let him know when Paul was feeling better. She actually wanted to contact Benjamin directly, but she knew that Benjamin would ignore her, let alone agree with her.

Kimberly didn't know what to do. She had no idea or any way.

Because of this, her friends began to alienate her, and several blacklisted her immediately.

Suddenly, she saw through the heart and realized that those who usually pursued her did so for the sake of the Mitchell family and the Martin family, and not many of them treated her with sincerity. Kimberly stayed with Jennifer afterward. It was a night that was destined to be difficult.

The night passed.

With the Mitchell Group's debt problems and layoffs causing employees to jump out of the building still unresolved, red paint was thrown at the front door of the Mitchell Manor and the Mitchell Group, accompanied by a stinging message.

[Shady Company! Give me back my job! Give me back my justice!]

A scene like this put the Mitchell family and the Mitchell Group in the news once again.

Jack came to the company last night. He hadn't closed his eyes all night and had aged a lot. His eyes were red.Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.

At the moment, the employees had

been demanding their salaries from him and had surrounded him. It was his secretary, Wulf Milo, having been following him, who escorted him safely to the parking lot.

After Jack got in the car, Wulf said, "Mr. Jack Mitchell, there's news from the hospital. There's nothing wrong with the two employees who jumped off the building, they just have multiple fractures in their feet and hands, so they'll be fine after a

period of recuperation."

"That's good news. Get in touch with their families, and I'll find a way to compensate them. I just hope they can undo the damage to the reputation of the Mitchell Group."

"Mr. Jack Mitchell, I talked to them along the same lines you did, but they actually asked for three million dollars in compensation per person."

"What?"

Jack froze instantly.

Three million dollars for one meant six million dollars for two.

It wasn't a tiny amount of money, and the Mitchell family simply couldn't come up with it at the moment.

Jack asked, "How much money is currently in the company's account?"

Wulf froze for a moment and responded in a low voice, "Mr. Jack Mitchell, less than three hundred thousand dollars."
