Chapter 295
Restless
But before Harper could figure out the answer, Curtis came over.
Curtis reported what he found out truthfully, "Mr. Martin, Mrs. Martin, I found out that Angie's connection to Kimberly is because Kimberly has been sponsoring her son for his master's degree." "Do you mean the results of the investigation have nothing to do with Kimberly and the Mitchell family?"
"Yes. I investigated the Mitchell family's connection to Angie separately. Other than Kimberly, your parents had no dealings with Angie."
Harper was then relieved. In fact, she was afraid that this matter had something to do with the Mitchell family. In that case, she would feel sad.Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
She looked at Curtis and asked, "If this has nothing to do with the Mitchell family and I have nothing personal against Angie, why did she do this to me?"
"Mrs. Martin, while this incident has nothing to do with the Mitchell family, Angie did take money from someone to drug your meal as well as intentionally tell those lies to mislead you."
Curtis said he couldn't find out who paid off Angie yet.
Because the other party's transactions with Angie were via WhatsApp, it was a bit difficult to check. The only thing he could be sure of at the moment was that the other party definitely knew Harper and Benjamin. Otherwise, the other party wouldn't be able to know when Benjamin was on a business trip and coincidentally pick the time during Benjamin's business trip to do it.
Harper stayed silent for a long time after hearing this before asking, "Where is Angie now?"
"She's at the police station. I submitted all this evidence to the police as well."
Benjamin gestured for Curtis to go out first, then looked to Harper and asked, "Harper, don't you want her to pay the price she deserves?"
"No." Harper thought, "I just suddenly want to see Angie and ask Angie why, as a mother, she did such a thing when she knew I was pregnant."
But then again, she felt that such people, no matter how kind they appeared to be, were merely doing harmful things in the name of kindness.
Harper didn't ask about it again. She didn't want to bring up Angie again and left it all in Benjamin's hands.
Angie, naturally, had to face the law. In the meantime, though, Benjamin asked Curtis to bring the news to Kimberly. Benjamin wanted Kimberly to see what kind of people she was really funding.
Harper stayed in the hospital for two days, and Yinson took care of all her checkups. Luckily, the baby and she were both fine, and there were no problems.
But Yinson worried about the risks
and still spoke to Benjamin privately,
"She's going to have regular checkups, just in case. They're all good so far, but you can't take it lightly You don't have to tell Harper, though, to save her the mental burden."
Benjamin nodded in response.
He also stayed with Harper throughout the past two days, taking good care of her in the hope that she could relax and be happier.
After the discharge was processed, they went back to the apartment.
All those fears and trepidations Harper had been feeling were gone, and everything was back to the peace it had been before.
But this matter wasn't over yet. Harper's heart was restless until the person responsible for the crime was found.
She said to Benjamin, "Benjamin, I want to know who it is. I must know!"
"Okay, I promise you. I'll keep looking into this matter, and I'll also keep an eye on the people around us. I won't let any traces slip." She nodded with a smile.
In an effort to keep her busy and not think anything else, Benjamin took out the file he'd had Curtis prepared a long time ago and handed it to her. "Take a look at this. Are you interested?" en
"What's this?" Harper asked as she opened it.
Benjamin gave her the rule book for the architects' competition.
Benjamin said, "Would you like to participate? This event is organized by the Martin Group. It's your specialty. Do you want to give it a try?" Harper smiled. Instead of telling Benjamin that she was already making preparations to attend, she simply asked, "Do you think I can do it?"
