Chapter 162 Next Time I Wouldn’t Be Soft
Yanis saw Ivan was absent-minded and shouted, "Ivan?"
Ivan gathered his thoughts when he heard Yanis' voice. "You... Are you ok?"
After what happened that day, Ivan wanted to visit Yanis, but he didn't come because he thought Yanis
might end up with Zane.
Ivan wasn't hiding things about Phoebe either.
After the Lawrence family knew, they called the Baxter family.
Although the Baxter family had not done much business with the Lawrence family over the years, Ivan
let someone hit Phoebe, and they had to give an explanation.
Ryan Baxter was trying to reason with Ivan, but the conversation didn't end up well. The two of them
were fighting in the end.
Ivan was beaten.
Ivan had stayed at the company for two days and hadn't gone home.
If it hadn't been for Myles' injury, Ivan would have waited another two days before coming to see Yanis.
Also, Ivan had some regrets after informing Zane that day.
Apparently, he didn't want to be the nice guy, but he did it again that day.
If he hadn't told Zane that day that he had taken Yanis, he could have kept what happened next to
himself.
It was just that he didn't want Yanis to hate him if there was no chance for him to be with her...
Bonnie talked about it after what happened that day. It was Ivan who called Zane.
When Ivan said this, Yanis hesitated for a few seconds and said, "I'm fine."
Ivan let go of her. "Good."
Yanis said, "it's getting late. You should go home."
Ivan didn't say what he was going to say. He waved to Yanis and got in the car.
Yanis stood at the door, watching Ivan drive away.
Then she took her eyes off the car and started to walk back.
A very familiar car pulled up at the spot where Ivan parked his car before.
Yanis froze. When the person got out of the car, Yanis turned around and continued to walk.
Before she had taken two steps, the man from the car grabbed her wrist. "Yanis."
Yanis pulled her hand away calmly and asked, "what's the matter with Mr. Lawrence?"
Zane grabbed Yanis' hand and didn't say anything. The two looked into each other's eyes with a lot of
emotion.
Yanis didn't want to say anything. She was silent.
Zane finally spoke first, but the words that came out were not very nice.
"What's up with you and Ivan?"
Yanis laughed at Zane's slightly inquisitive words. "Mr. Lawrence, what's going on with Ivan? Can't you
see?"
Zane frowned. "Yanis, you can't be with him. the Baxter family won't..."
Zane stopped talking.
Yanis looked at the man standing in front of her. "Mr. Lawrence is really worried, but Mr. Lawrence
doesn't have to worry about me, right?"
"Yanis, that's not what I mean. I mean..."
"Mr. Lawrence."
Yanis interrupted him with a cool voice. "It really doesn't matter to me what you mean. If there's
nothing, I'll go in now."
Yanis then turned around without giving Zane a chance to speak.
"Did you know Ivan went to see Phoebe?"
Hearing this, Yanis stopped. She thought of what Neve said today at the hospital elevator door, and
didn't look back. "I know, and I asked Ivan to see her."
Yanis stood up straight. "Phoebe wasn't the only one who was trying to set me up. The other person I
could have let her go for Mr. Lawrence's sake. But I hope Mr. Lawrence will manage well his people. If
there will be next time, I won't be soft on her!"
After they had known each other for such a long time, this was the first time Zane felt an indescribable
distance between him and Yanis.
She walked away without any hesitation, like a complete stranger.
There was no pause at all when she turned and left.
Zane just stood there, watching Yanis disappear from his sight.
After a while, he turned and left.
...
Yanis had a dream last night.
The scenes in the dream changed too fast and were grotesque. But every scene made Yanis more and
more depressed.
Zane was in almost every scene.
His coldness, his indifference, his cruelty...
Yanis sat up and raised her hand to scratch her messy hair. She was staring blankly.
It was not until the phone, which she had put aside, rang that Yanis withdrew all her drifting thoughts
and reached for the phone to answer it.
"It's Bonnie."
"Bonnie?"
"Yanis, are you awake?"
Yanis said, "Yes, I am. I am getting dressed and going to wash my face."
"You don't need to come to pick me up in the morning, I will go back by myself later, then in half an
hour, someone will come to pick up the pre-ordered dress. It's in the dressing room downstairs. I have
packed it before, and the name is Connie."
Yanis answered, "ok, I got it."
"Thank you, Yanis."
"How is Myles?"
"The same. He'll have to stay in the hospital for a few months.'" Bonnie said.
"So, are you going to take care of him?"
Bonnie glared over at Myles, who was hooked up to a drip. "Who wants to take care of him? I have
other things to do. I don't want to stay in the hospital."
Yanis doesn't expose Bonnie's lie, but said, "then don't take care of him. Let him be on his own."
"Why didn't you defend him today?"
Yanis laughed. "If I speak for Myles, you will have to ask Myles if he bought me off."
Bonnie snorted, "you know what you're doing."
After their small chat, the two hang up.
Yanis checked the time and got up. She changed her clothes and washed her face. Then she went
downstairs.
Connie came just in time.
The black car was parked in front of the studio.
Yanis had seen Connie last time when she was at the studio, so he recognized her immediately. "Miss
Lowe."
Connie didn't expect that it was Yanis waiting for her in the shop. For a moment, she looked puzzled
and then took the mask off her face, "Ms. Cooke is not there?"
"Bonnie is out of town today. She just called me. The dress you asked for is ready. Have a seat please, Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
I will go get it for you."
Connie glanced at Yanis and nodded. "Thank you."
Yanis smiled at Connie and then went into the dressing room.
In the dressing room, there were all the dresses ordered by customers, each with a name and date on
it.
