CHAPTER TWENTY THREE
Since that day, Maggie and I has not spoken again. She still comes here but when I know she’s in Dane’s office I leave the building. Because maybe she’ll come to my office or Dane will take her. As much as possible, I don’t want to see her. I want to move forward in my life. Then I will always see her here? I may suddenly change my mind and not be able to leave.
“Hey, you haven’t come home yet?” Jace asked.
“I have more to finish.”
“I’ll go, Phoenix is also going because it’s raining hard outside. I think there’s a storm he’s worried on Hailey.”
“All right be careful,” He closed the door but it also suddenly opened and Dane entered.
“Hey, haven’t you come home yet? I sent employees home because it’s raining hard.”
“After this.”
“Blaze, don’t get too over workaholic. I know you are still upset because of what happened but I already agreed to your request.”
“I am ok, Dane.” I heard her sigh and stand behind me then massaged my shoulder. Maggie used to do this to me when I am tired from work and I miss her more.
“Everything is gonna be ok, fucker.” The door opened and Zeus appeared.
“Hey, I’ll go.” I nodded and Dane just signed ok.
“Dane, I missed her.”
“I know, let her heal, and you also.” Then she turned to me. “You two love each other, and that love will lead you back to each other’s arms.”
“She’s happy with your brother.”
“Hmp, maybe, but not in a way you think.” She stood up and took her bag. “Gotta go. It might rain harder, you know my eyes are blurry in the rain.”
“Take care.” I leaned my back on the chair. I took the frame from which Maggie’s picture was there. Isn’t she really coming back?
I look outside and it’s very dark around and the rain is getting heavier. I might even be caught inside so I just decided to go home. It was a bit dark outside but somehow there were still cars and people passing by. There are even rain showers and there are even sidewalk vendors.
I was driving slowly because the road was slippery. I heard some beeps in the previous cars in front of me but the traffic flow was ok. It is like the drivers taking someone’s attention.
I was just driving when someone caught my attention. A woman walks on the street wearing a red dress with an open back. Even though it was a bit dark, her legs were very exposed, coming from the light of the pole. She was barefoot and carrying sandals that rested on her shoulders. She walks like she’s dancing in the rain. And she looks like the one the drivers have been wanting to get attention to. And even only her back I saw. I know who she is.
“Maggie?” I beep also and she looked at my place but she didn’t seem to have any idea that it was me. She waved her hand to everyone and the men passing by or vendors were about to scold her because the hem of her dress was rising.
She approached a salesman who was in the waiting shed and talked. A few men followed her and pretended to buy as well. Just the appearance of the rambunctious ones seems to have planned something bad for Maggie. The men also talked to her and she ate. I stop the car beside the waiting shed. I took the gun from the dash for safety purposes. I went down and got wet in the rain as well.
“Maggie!” She looks at me and even the men who follow her. Even others take refuge in the waiting shed.
“Hi, Blaze.” She smiles at me. In her looks, she looks drunk. But more than that.
“What are you doing?”
“I’m hungry, I don’t have any money, so I tried to convince the vendor to trade my boots. This is original Prada, but they insisted they will pay.” She pointed to the men I stared at.
“I’ll pay for that. Come, I’ll bring you home and I’ll have food there.”
“I’ll finish this.” I took a deep breath and just let her eat eggs and other foods that I couldn’t determine what. “Hey, thanks in advance to you but Blaze will pay,” she said to the men.
“I’ll pay for that.” I went back to the car and took the money then returned to her and gave it to the salesman. The men left one by one.
“Do you know him, boy?” the vendor asked me.
“She used to be my husband,” Maggie answered.
“It’s a good thing you saw her. It’s dangerous for someone like her to walk at night and be alone. Maybe what else will happen there if you don’t see her. She still looks drunk.” I know what he means so I followed the gaze of the men who followed her.
“Thanks, keep the change. Maggie let’s go,” I said when I saw she is done. The old man handed her a drink.
“Ok,” She handed the salesman his red boots. “It’s up to you, you sell it. I bought it expensively there is a legit Prada shop so you can sell at least half price for additional investment. Bye, everyone!” She even waved to those left in the waiting shed that was there. I helped her sit up until I could enter. We are both soaking wet.
“What the hell are you doing, are you drunk?” I can’t help being annoyed because of what she did. What if I didn’t see her? What will happen to her with those men?
“I am on drugs.” She smiles and leans her back. “So if you will going to fight me you’re wasting your time. I don’t understand anything and even more, I don’t care. I am so damn calm to hit you, love. Dylan’s fucking drugs are good quality.”
“You can’t imagine what will happen to you in what you do.” I try to calm myself down. I also get nothing if I fight her or raise my voice. As she said, I am wasting my time if I get angry.
“I was just looking for food, I’m really hungry.”
“Have you seen that man? What if I didn’t come what will they do to you?”
“They will fuck me one by one if I will go with them. How many are they? Six? Seven maybe? Fuck, my holes will be full.”
“Maggie!”
“Do you think I am stupid? We were in front of the police station earlier, I am planning to go there after I eat. And do you think I will allow them to fuck me? Duh! I’ll just use my fingers instead.”
“Where’s Dylan?”
“Sleep, he’s tired so I left.” I don’t know if I’ll be annoyed, jealous, or what.
“I thought he’s taking care of you,”
“Tired probably, he fucks two women.” I looked at her in astonishment. “What? Why do you look like that?”
“Two women?” I asked.
“Why? Dylan did that always.”
“And it’s ok with you?”
“Hmp, the hell she’s sleeping with.”
“Aren’t you jealous?”
“Do I need?” Then she took off her dress and only panties were left so her chest was exposed.
“What the hell are you doing?” I ask and diverted my gaze.
“I’m wet.” Fortunately, I took off my coat earlier when I got off so I handed it to her.
“Wear that.” Shit Maggie, you’re making me hard. “Where will I take you?”
“At your house.” I suddenly stepped the break by her answer.
“What did you say?”
“I said at your house. I am confused, and my mind is a little bit cloudy, I can’t remember where I live.”
“Are you playing with me?”
“You don’t want to, Then take me anywhere. But let me sleep here, first. Just wake me up when you drop me somewhere.” She lay down in the car seat then closed her eyes. “Blaze.”
“What?”
“We never tried to fuck in the car before.” I look at her smiling at me. She gives me a smile and her chest was exposed. Shit! “Eyes on the road.” Then she closed her eyes again.
“Fix yourself.”
“Why? It’s like you haven’t seen it before. You love to play these tits and enjoyed a lot.” I never spoke again and I also never heard anything from her.
“Are you trying to seduce me?”
“Nope, I know you’ve just seen me harden you.”
“Shit.”
“Can I borrow your phone?” she asked so I looked at her again but also avoided it immediately.
“What for? I don’t have Dylan’s number if you call him.”
“Gonna listen to a song.”
“Open the radio.”
“Nah, I want to choose.”
“I have nothing in my playlist.”
“Lots of complain, it’s nice to jump in here.” I took my phone and give it to her. “Listen to this.” Then she played. I am not into music but why I have this feeling that the song belongs to us. The song referred to my feelings to her or should I say is that how she felt right now towards me. I look at her but she closes her eyes while singing the song.
“Wish I could, I could’ve said goodbye
I would’ve said what I wanted to
Maybe even cried for you
If I knew it would be the last time
I would’ve broke my heart in two
Tryna save a part of you
Don’t wanna feel another touch
Don’t wanna start another fireCopyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
Don’t wanna know another kiss
No other name fallin’ off my lips
Don’t wanna give my heart away
To another stranger
Or let another day begin
Won’t even let the sunlight in
No, I’ll never love again
I’ll never love again, oh, oh, oh, oh
When we first met
I never thought that I would fall
I never thought that I’d find myself
Lying in your arms, mm, mm
And I wanna pretend that it’s not true
Oh, baby, that you’re gone
‘Cause my world keeps turnin’, and turnin’, and turnin’
And I’m not movin’ on
I don’t wanna know this feelin’
Unless it’s you and me
I don’t wanna waste a moment, ooh
And I don’t wanna give somebody else the better part of me
I would rather wait for you, ooh
Don’t wanna feel another touch
Don’t wanna start another fire
Don’t wanna know another kiss
Baby, unless they are your lips
Don’t wanna give my heart away
To another stranger
Don’t let another day begin
Won’t let the sunlight in
Oh, I’ll never love again
Never love again
Never love again
Oh, I’ll never love again”
“Nice song right?” I look at her who is now smiling at me. “Eyes on the road.”
“Maggie?”
“Gonna sleep.” And she close her eyes.
I am so damn in love with you, Maggie. And just like what the song said. I’ll never love again—If it wasn’t you.
