Tragic fate of her son(1)
Caroline Esteban is Jenica’s best friend since high school. When they were both students, they were called ‘opposite duo’ in school. Carol who was a ‘jester’ while she was the ‘silent’ one.
When Jenica’s parents was killed due to a car accident, Carol became her only support to continue living. There were times when Jenica was in her lowest during the time of her grief, but Carol would always push her back into reality. So out of concern, Carol’s mother decided to let her stay in their house until both she and Carol had graduated college and each had found a job.
However, she was accused of fraud by the company she was working for and paid a large amount of money even though she was not the one who stole the money. It was Carol who helped her raised funds by doing high paying part-time jobs at a high class bar house as a waitress.
Jenica was opposed to the idea of working on a bar house but she forced herself to replace Carol with her job in that place after she got fired at work.
Just one night, while they were celebrating her birthday, Carol joke with her, “Just look for a rich, old, and dying man, so when he die, you will inherit his wealth!” Carol said and giggled.
Jenica didn’t know what got into her head that night, but she stalked the entire bar in search of a rich target.
“Hello, Sir! Maybe you want a wife? I’m willing to apply for the job!” Jenica offered, laughing merrily at the VIP room she had entered.
She drank two strong shots and she seemed to have a low alcohol tolerance that night. Maybe because she’s still mourning for the two million she had paid just to silence the company who falsely sued her and her ex-workmate who really stole that amount.
If only her skills were on par with the top experts, then she would shove the evidence of the false claim onto their stupid a$$es. That mf higher-ups who would believe the manager more than the lowly employee…
“You want to be our wife?” a man asked amusedly then looked at his companion. “Single dogs, come and take a look! A girl wants to be your b*tch!” he joked.
The men laughed. Jenica raised her eyebrows. She understood why those men were laughing at her words, so she approached the center table where there was a bottle of wine and threw it at the man who spoke rudely first. But she had no strength to throw it at his face and the bottle ended up shattering on the floor.
Silence hovered the room before a man joked, “Woah! Be careful, Miss. You can’t afford even that man’s fingers!” He smiled foolishly, clearly a drunk one. “But well done!” he praised her.
But not all of the men inside were happy to watch such a farce. A man in his mid-30s frowned at Jenica and asked his men to drag her away.
Looking at the bulky men moving closer to unsuspecting woman, the man in the dark frowned. With a raise of his hand, two men in suits stopped the bulky men and protected the woman who was giggling while dancing in the music hovering around the place.
Without noticing the earlier dangerous situation, Jenica smiled softly and took out a calling card from her pocket. She slapped it onto the man’s cheek. “I like your face. Here’s my number, boy. It’s your loss if you won’t call me,” she said and laughed before she heartlessly left the VIP room, leaving the man in the sorry state.
The man looked at someone hiding in the dark. “Mr. Fuego, why did your men…”
“She’s my prey,” someone in the dark answered.
The men inside the room were silent and didn’t try to ridicule the woman who just barged in without a notice. And one of the men in suits got Jenica’s calling card and gave it to the man in the dark who was called Mr. Fuego.
The next day, Jenica was surprised when someone knocked on the door of the apartment she was staying. She saw the pale man sitting in the wheelchair and his assistant. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
Jenica found out that the name of the man on the wheelchair was Alexander Fuego, and she was not the only one who gaped staring at the sickly man. Even Carol who slept in her apartment was stunned when she heard the man’s marriage proposal. And who’s Alexander Fuego? He’s the richest man in the country!
So after a private discussion on the marriage of convenience proposed by Mr. Fuego, Jenica immediately agreed while thinking that she got a jackpot this time. Yet, after years of being a Fuego’s wife, she still decided to run away from the man.
…
“Jen! Where’s that Fuego bastard? I thought that one was rich? Why can’t he find my godson, huh?!” Carol shouted angrily inside the taxi.
Jenica sighed and patted her shoulder. “Calm down. I’m doing my best to find Sham.”
“What the hell did you think and you come back to the country with Sham? Aren’t you hiding Sham in another country? It’s been five years and you’re living well but why did you…” Carol took a deep breath. “Sham’s life is good. That bastard husband of yours can just remarry and forget —”
“Sham needs a father. He has the right to know,” she cut Carol’s words, secretly looking at the silent taxi driver ahead. Why was this woman so loud?
But thinking of Carol’s words, she couldn’t help but sigh and clench her fist.
Carol didn’t know about her hidden identities she’s been using for the past five years. The woman thought she was just a small time business owner abroad so Jenica understood why Carol would nag her of her decision to come back, when she didn’t know of her missions assigned by HQ to her.
If she hadn’t heard that Alex was getting married, she wouldn’t have brought Sham to the country. And now, she’s regretting her impulsiveness. But it’s safer for Carol to know less.
“Right to know?” Carol sneered. “I’ve been your friend all these years. How can I not know when you’re lying? Just tell me that you still love him so you came home to the country when you found out he is getting married to that b*tch!”
Jenica choked on her own saliva. She grimaced and shook her head. “What are you talking about? I did come back for my son’s sake. You’re talking nonsense.”
“Hah! Let’s see if I’m talking nonsense when we meet that bastard!”
Jenica sighed, frowning a little. “Not now. I still have work to do.” She looked down at the watch on her wrist. “Stay in a hotel for now. I’ll come find you three days later.”
“What?” Carol frowned. “Jenica, are you out of your mind? Your child is missing but why are you so calm? Shouldn’t we start looking for the child right now?!”
“Trust me, I can’t do anything right now. I already asked Alex for help and he’s working his best to find Sham. I promise, I’ll come pick you up in three days,” she said.
Carol stared at her for a few seconds before sighing. “Fine. I will also call my acquaintances for help. Give me a picture of Sham and yours so I can ask someone to pay for the local news –”
“No!” Jenica looked away. “Let’s find Sham secretly. Don’t let the media know of my son’s situation. He’ll be in great danger once the Fuego knew of his existence.”
Carol’s face darkened even more but she didn’t say a word anymore and moved to call her acquaintance at the Police station. Jenica pressed her lips together.
The truth is, she doesn’t want anyone to recognize her in this mission. She knew that Jared has men in the high society and there’s a high probability that he would know about her son, and as an Agent, she must prevent anyone to know her ‘weakness’ specially now that she’s on a mission.
Also, the HQ would recognize her right away and they will definitely question her. Most importantly, there are still hidden dangers lurking behind the Fuego family so she has no plans to introduce her son to Alex’s clan for now.
