Chapter 216
Chapter 216
The man in black looked at Emily and said coldly, "Miss Johnson, you should know Mr. Brent's temper.
Don't make things harder than it should be."
Emily trembled, pursed her lips, and said to Joyce and James, "Wait for me here. I'll be right back."
"Emily." James grabbed her arm.
Emily handed Bryce to James and gently comforted James, "Don't worry. I'll be fine. I'll be back soon.
Take care of the child."
James saw Emily's determined look, so he reluctantly nodded.
Now they were not allowed to go back. If they didn't finish their business with Franklin, they probably
wouldn't be able to go back to Dover any time soon.
Emily followed the man in black out of the station and saw a black business car parked on the side of
the road.
The man in black opened the door for her and made an inviting gesture for her to get in the car.
Emily glanced inside. As expected, Franklin was there.
He just didn't pay her any attention. He was expressionless as if she owed him eight million dollars.
Emily bent over and sat down next to the door, keeping a distance from Franklin.
"What do you want from me?" Emily asked.
Franklin remained expressionless and did not say a word, who was like a sculpture.
Emily had no time to quietly sit here with him. James and the others were still waiting for her. If she
didn't go back, they would be worried.
"Speak it out if you have something to say. What do you mean by remaining silent like this? I'll leave
Lancaster right away. Now you can rest assured! I won't appear in Lancaster ever again. No one will
know about our relationship." Emily spoke again and promised him.
She thought that Franklin came to see her just to warn her not to show up in Lancaster again. So
instead of waiting for him to say it out, she might as well take the initiative to make such a promise.
However, as soon as she finished speaking, Franklin's face finally changed a little, but it was not a
happy expression.
"Are you so desperate to leave? So hateful to see me?" Franklin suddenly turned around and pressed
Emily into her seat.
Emily looked at him in a daze, unable to react for a moment.
When she came to her senses, she didn't know what to say. She opened her mouth but could not make
a sound.
But soon Franklin lowed his head, and without giving her a chance to speak, he kissed her lips
forcefully and domineeringly.
"What are you doing?" Emily raised her arm in anger and slapped Franklin in the face.
After that, her chest heaved violently, and her whole body trembled slightly as if the slap had exhausted
all her strength.
Franklin's face tilted slightly after being slapped. But his eyes grew darker and he stared at her without
saying a word.
Emily took a deep breath and forced herself to calm down. She looked at Franklin coldly and asked,
"What exactly do you want? Just tell me. No one has the time to speculate."
"You forgot, we haven't divorced yet, so we're still legally husband and wife." Franklin finally spoke, but
what he said really pissed Emily off.
"So are you here to divorce me? In that case, why kiss me in the first place? What do you treat me for,
pig head?" Emily shouted angrily.
"You're still my wife before the divorce. It's reasonable for me to kiss you." Franklin said shamelessly
and turned to lean against the car seat.
Emily was livid. She really didn't expect Franklin to be so shameless for he could take it for granted
after doing something wrong.
"Okay, let's get a divorce now." Emily said angrily.
Franklin nodded.
Emily thought it would take time to go through divorce proceedings, so she called James again and told
James to go back with Joyce first. When she was done, she would go find him.
"Emily, are you okay? Do you want me to come over?" James asked.
"No, just keep an eye on Bryce. It will be over soon. Don't worry." Emily comforted him.
But how could James rest assured? He told her to call him if anything happened before hanging up.
After Emily finished the call, Franklin suddenly said coldly, "He cares about you very much."
Emily was stunned and did not react for a moment. But when she realized it, she said angrily, "Of
course, we are husband and wife. He is a good husband."
What she really meant was that Franklin was not a good husband when they were still a couple.
Franklin also understood it but did not refute it.
After a while, he said, "You have a child? How old is he?"
Emily's face changed and she muttered, "Three years old."
Franklin lowered his eyes and said slowly, "That means you were with him not long after you left."
Emily frowned and remained silent.
The car was already moving. Emily thought the driver was taking them to the Civil Affairs Bureau, so
she didn't ask.
Franklin saw that she was silent, so he snorted and said slowly, "When I just woke up, I thought you
would be by my side. But they told me that you had already left with Andrew. Even that car accident
was part of your plan, so you'll be able to leave me."
"I didn't leave with Andrew, and I didn't intend to murder you." Emily retorted.
Franklin did not respond to her argument and continued slowly, "I didn't believe it either. I thought it was Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
just my mother wanted to separate us by saying so. So I secretly asked Lisa to find you. As long as you
come back, as long as you come back to me, I would believe whatever you say. But no, you didn't
come back. I haven't heard from you for four years, and you never appeared in Lancaster again.
Instead, Andrew came once during my hospitalization and showed me the note you wrote to him."
"I..."
Emily frowned and her heart ached. Looking at Franklin like this, she suddenly felt very distressed.
How much he expected her to appear at that time.
"For the past four years, I've been making excuses for myself. You must have left me for some reason.
Maybe... You're not even alive anymore, and I don't dare to let anyone investigate you. I'm afraid of the
results. But I didn't expect you to be alive and well, married and have children, and live a happy life."
"Franklin, it's not what you think. Actually, Bryce is..." Emily was eager to explain, her heart pounding,
and she was eager to tell him Bryce's identity.
But before she could finish her sentence, she suddenly felt a pain in her back neck, and then her eyes
darkened and she fell into Franklin's arms.
