Chapter 311 Getting Drunk Late at Night
Forty minutes later, the car stopped at the gate of the Red
Cauldron. The parking attendant recognized Huston’s license
plate, respectfully took the key, and drove away.
The manager of the club personally came down to greet him.
As Huston entered the private room, Marcellus sat alone on
the sofa, casually crossing his legs and smoking a cigar.
When he saw Huston enter, he immediately stood up and greeted him. “Huston.”
Huston’s face didn’t look good. He walked straight to the seat
next to Marcellus and poured a glass from a bottle of liquor
worth hundreds of thousands of dollars on the table. He drank
it straight without mixing it with any base liquor.
The fiery liquid slid down his throat, flowing into his stomach, igniting his entire body. Numbness finally gave way to some semblance of sensation in his heart. Huston reached for a
second glass, but Marcellus stopped him. From NôvelDrama.Org.
“What’s wrong?” Sensing that something was wrong with
Huston, Marcellus stopped joking and put on a serious
expression.
With a scoff, Huston gritted his teeth and puffed up his cheeks.
“I’m frustrated.”
Frustrated?
Marcellus took Huston’s glass of wine and thought about what
could have bothered Huston enough to come out late at night
for a drink. Aside from the unpredictable factor of Evelyn, there was nothing else that could have caused it.
“Is it because of Evelyn, my sister-in-law?” He habitually
treated Evelyn as his sister-in-law, only realizing it was
inappropriate after the words left his mouth. He glanced at
Huston and was relieved to see that he didn’t react much.
“She… went to see Mia today.” When mentioning the recent
incident, the depth of color in Huston’s eyes resembled dark
ink.
Marcellus’s eyes widened unconsciously. “Evelyn knows it?”
“Yes.” Huston placed his hands on his knees and buried half of
his face in his palms. “She knows about Mia but doesn’t know about our relationship.”
Only then did Marcellus understand why Huston had come to drink with him in the middle of the night. If this had happened
to him, he might have been even more stressed and didn’t
know how to deal with it.
“Did you explain it to her?”
Huston let out a deep sigh. His words were filled with helplessness and sourness. “She doesn’t believe me.””
And now, he had no right to ask her to believe him.
Marcellus didn’t know how to comfort him. Looking at the
wine glass in his hand, he gritted his teeth and said, “Huston, if you have any unhappiness, let it out. I’ll be with you tonight!”
Huston smiled, but there wasn’t much warmth in his smile.
“Okay.”
The two of them kept drinking non-stop, and it didn’t take long for most of the alcohol on the table to be consumed. Although Marcellus was known for his tolerance for alcohol, it was the first time he drank so much at such a rapid pace.
By the end, he was no longer conscious and aware. Despite a restroom in the private room, he mistakenly pushed the door
and went outside. He had only taken a few steps when he
nearly stumbled.
The club manager behind him was shocked and quickly supported him. “Mr. Perkins!”
Marcellus vaguely heard someone calling his name, and he almost lost his balance. His tongue was unclear as he asked,
“Wh-what’s wrong?”
“You’re drunk, Let me help you upstairs to rest” The club manager choked on the strong smell of alcohol on him. If it
weren’t for the fact that he was his superior, the manager
would have mistaken him for a regular drunkard.
