Good morning
Nathan rushed to her and comforted her. In less than a minute, she went back to sleep and Nathan laid down beside her as he provided comfort to her by cuddling her. He soon fell asleep faster than he imagined he would.
The pitch black night sky soon faded into the shades of dark blue. The first ray of sunlight peeked through the tiny opening of the linen curtains paving way to the sun as it rested on both faces indicating its rise.
Nathan had some birds in a cage he kept at the corner of his window. He loved the melodious songs they give in the morning as it helped make his day start in a rhythm.
Still laying down with his eyes closed, Nathan felt the soft breeze of the morning kiss his face. He knew it was morning but felt too tired to wake up. He turned to his side to continue sleeping but his body hit against something. He opened his eyes curiously to see what his body had touched.
He became fully awoken the instant he saw Demelza sleeping beside him. He used his hand to hit his forehead, wondering why he brought her home last night. Regret washed over him as his eyes remained fixed on her.
He roughly tapped her to wake up because he didn’t want her in his house one minute longer.
Demelza woke up immediately from his taps and wondered what that was about.
“Good morning.” She greeted Nathan with her sleepy eyes and furrowed brows.
For a split second he admired her cute morning face but erased that admiration instantly.
“There’s nothing good about the morning.” Nathan responded rudely which left Demelza perplexed as she wondered if he is the same person from last night.
“Are you serious right now?” She asked him with her brows up trying to comprehend the switch in attitude or how convenient it is for him to toss her like a piece of trash.
“Can you leave my house, please?” He rhetorically asks her.
“And if I say no?” She responded.
“I do not think you are that stupid,” He told her, giving her a death stare.
“You’re joking right.” Demelza tried hard not to believe her eyes and ears right that instant.
“Are you leaving or nay?” Nathan asked again.
Demelza scoffed instantly at his blank emotions. She got up from the bed and packed her things in a rush not wanting to take anymore of his disrespect.
“You seem to forget, you haven’t made retribution concerning your driver knocking me down. That is an unfinished business, you don’t scare me Nathan Storm.” Demelza said without knowing what she was saying or doing but she couldn’t just let him win this round.
Immediately she said that she left without giving him the chance to breathe anymore words.
She hurriedly took a cab home and decided not to go to the office that day. She felt like she has had enough of Nathan and she also had the added advantage of his driver ish she brought up. She knew he would be very careful with his next word and action.
Finally home, she lazily unlocked the door and made her way inside. She slumped on the sofa in the living room in delight of being home at last.
She rested her head against the backrest of the sofa while she thought about last night and that morning. She began to feel her stomach churning from anger.
Still in her thoughts, she heard the sound of the door opening which made her turn immediately. She was sure she locked the door which made her wonder who it was coming in. Fear gripped her instantly because she wasn’t expecting her stepmom as it was still the middle of the week.
She got up, picked her heels on the floor to use for self defense. She slowly walked to the door only to be startled by Katherine’s laughter from seeing the heels in her hands.
“What did you intend to do with that?” Katherine asked her, laughing very hard.
“I don’t know, anything.” Demelza said realizing it was her heels she picked up for self defense.
Both friends hugged each other and walked to the living room. They both slumped on the sofa feeling very excited to see each other. They barely ever had the time to see each other from the moment Demelza started working two jobs.
“It’s been forever.” Demelza told Katherine, pouting.
“For real girl. I missed you.” Katherine responded, hugging Demelza.
They stayed in each other’s hug for a while before breaking free.
“So here’s why I came.” Katherine said without wasting time, which made Demelza’s whole attention be on her.
“I have something for you, something really big. I think it might be the solution to your problem.
“Okay?” Demelza responded feeling very interested in the talk.
Katherine brought out a flash drive from her bag and handed it over to Demelza.
Demelza reluctantly collected it wondering what was in it and its relevance to what Katherine was saying.
Demelza gave Katherine a questionable look waiting for her to explain. “So right there is_” Katherine paused and moved closer to Demelza. “That is a sex tape of a certain Ryan, an employee of Nathan.” Katherine whispered in Demelza’s ear.
“And I am supposed to do what with this?” Demelza asked Kathrine.
“Don’t be dumb girl.” Katherine said irritated with Demelza’s question. “Blackmail him into representing you as your lawyer and also compensate you for his driver knocking you down. If this leaks to the public, it will be bad for his law firm. He will bend to your wishes because it’ll be irreparable damage if this goes out.” Katherine explained to Demelza who hasn’t said a word yet.
“Do I really have to explain all these to you?” Katherine asked Demelza rhetorically, feeling very annoyed.
“But this is wrong.” Demelza told Katherine who rolled her eyes.
“Do you want your dad back or not? Do you want your life back or not?” Kathrine asked Demelza who looked like her thoughts were far.
“But it is not a bad idea.” Demelza said with a smiley face.
“What are friends for?” Katherine asked, feeling excited Demelza is buying the idea.Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
They both talk and laugh for minutes as they caught up with plenty of things that had been happening in both their lives.
Demelza picked up her PC and inserted the Flash drive to watch whatever was in there.
“No.” Kathrine exclaimed, shutting the PC. “Watch it when you are alone.” Kathrine told her.
“But it is just the both of us.” Demelza reminded her.
“Yes, the both of us with your door unlocked.” Katherine reminded her.
“It is not like anyone’s coming in, Kath.” Demelza stressed.
“But I did.” Kathrine reminded her.
“Because you have a key. Damn it Katherine, why the fuss?” Demelza asked, getting impatient.
“I want this safe. If this isn’t used properly, it can be used against you.” Kathrine told her.
“Whatever.” Demelza responded as she ejected the flash and dropped it in her bag.
“I better get going now, I have to go to the grocery store. I just wanted to stop by and see you before leaving.
“Okay, thank you very much.” Demelza thanked her friend and they both stood up and walked to the door.
They hugged each other and Demelza locked the door immediately Kathrine left. She picked up her stuff from the living room and went into the bedroom.
She had a quick bath and fixed herself a breakfast of sandwich and a cup of coffee before settling on her bed to rest.
She decided she was going to just eat and rest and go to the restaurant for her shift in the evening. She felt rest assured knowing fully well Nathan wouldn’t dare fire her.
She inserted the flash drive and opened the folder in Ryan’s name.
She saw that it was a video which made her more curious.
Her eyes widened from what she saw as she was in utter shock. She least expected it to be something like that. As she kept watching it, she ran into the bathroom as she couldn’t stomach anymore of it.
She cringed from the thought of how Ryan is capable of something like that. If someone had told her about that, she wouldn’t have believed it but it was right before her eyes. Now she understood why Katherine said it would be a solution to her problem.
She laid on the bed to rest and think about the best ways to to use the video but is distracted with a notification sound from her phone.
She picked up her phone to check the notification only to be shocked to see that it is a text from Nathan. “The audacity.” She muttered before opening the text to read.
‘I’m at your door, open it.’ her heart skipped immediately she read the text.
