Chapter 182 Dancing with Mr. Hill
Chapter 182 Dancing with Mr. Hill
The answer, of course, remained unknown.
Jason also couldn’t possibly ask.
Later in the night, Alta clearly became tired. She laid on the hospital bed and her face buried in her arms.
She was dressed lightly, wearing only a shirt, exposing her fair nape.
Upon seeing this, Jason brought over a jacket and gently draped it over her.
In the middle of the night, Alta woke up.
After taking a moment to regain her clarity of mind, she noticed the men’s jacket on her body. She couldn’t help but recall the night she had spent at the hospital with her grandmother.
She instinctively raised her gaze and looked to the man’s direction, coincidentally meeting his pitch- black eyes. In that instant, a slight sense of peculiarity flashed through her heart.
Alta immediately placed the jacket on the bedside table and whispered, “I’ll take Nina’s temperature.”
Jason didn’t respond. He quietly sat on the other side of the bed, watching the woman in action.
“She no longer has a fever, and her temperature has returned to normal. With a few more days of rest, her body should recover.”
Alta felt relieved. She tucked the blanket in for Lyla and looked at her, who was sleeping soundly and snoring.
That small palm-sized face made people unable to resist the urge to pinch it.
However, Alta didn’t want to wake her up. She could only suppress the itching sensation in her hand.
Most importantly, Jason was still watching.
After a while, Lucas, who was beside them, woke up.
Alta couldn’t help but look over. Her son sat up, frowning with a displeased expression.
“What’s wrong?” she couldn’t help but ask.
“I don’t take a bath and feel uncomfortable when sleeping,’ Lucas said.
Having just woken up, Lucas subconsciously knew that he hadn’t taken a bath today. This made him unable to sleep well. He felt uneasy all over.
Afraid that something else might happen to his daughter, Jason had been at the bedside all this time.
Upon hearing Lucas’s words, he said, “I tell you to go back, but you refuse.”
Alta knew that her son had a cleanliness obsession and was a bit of a neat freak. She immediately spoke softly, “It’s okay, I’ll take you to the bathroom to wash up.”
Lucas nodded and rubbed his eyes.
Alta stood up, preparing to go to the bathroom to run some hot water. Jason suddenly interjected, “You rest, I’ll do it.”
He picked up Lucas and went to the bathroom.
By now, it was already very late.
Alta stared fixedly at the closed bathroom door. She listened to the sound of water and movement inside, feeling a bit absent-minded…
Alta had heard from Otto and Nina about how Jason usually interacted with them. She knew that he had been good to them all these years.
However, seeing it with her own eyes was still the first time.
Alta’s heart was filled with mixed feelings. There were still many things she couldn’t understand.
If he didn’t have feelings for her back then, why did he raise the two children she gave birth to?
Later in the night.
Lucas took a bath, feeling much more relaxed both
physically and mentally. He leaned over and gave Alta a kiss, saying, “Goodnight, Alta.”
Afterward, he climbed into bed and continued sleeping.
Jason lowered his gaze and stared at the two of them. He was wiping his hands with a towel, feeling inexplicably unhappy. His expression turned sour.
Whether it was his son or his daughter, they were both raised by him. Why, on their first meeting with Alta, do they not reject her but display such an unusual level of intimacy?
Jason had a feeling of being betrayed by the two little ones…
After being kissed by her son, Alta had been paying attention to Jason’s reaction.
Seeing his displeased expression, she couldn’t help but feel amused.
Early in the next morning.
Lyla had completely recovered. She sat by the bedside, holding Alta’s hand and shaking it.
The doctor also came over. After examining her, the doctor said, “Your body has recovered enough, you can be discharged now.”
Upon hearing this, Jason instructed Eaton, “Go and handle the discharge procedures.”
They had the appearance of preparing to return home.
Alta also didn’t want to overstay her welcome. She took the initiative to say, “If the children are fine, I’ll leave first.”
Lyla suddenly tightened her grip on Alta’s hand, reluctant to let go. She stared at Alta for several seconds and wrote on a small notebook, “I know that Alta took care of me yesterday. Can I see you again next time?”
After reading this line, Alta’s heart softened. She smiled in response, “I think so. I’m currently working at your dad’s company.”
Lyla’s eyes lit up, and she quickly wrote, “Does that mean I can go to dad’s company next time and see you?”
Alta smiled but remained silent, glancing at Jason.
The little girl immediately caught on. She looked at her own father with anticipation and asked, “Is it possible?”
Jason hesitated upon seeing the question on the notebook. For some reason, he felt a bit uncomfortable that his daughter, who used to be shy, now liked sticking to Alta so much.
However, he was always unable to resist his daughter’s pleas. After a few rounds of eye contact, Jason nodded and said, “Yes, you can.”
Alta breathed a sigh of relief, secretly glad that there would be better opportunities for them to meet again.
Afterward, they bid farewell and left.
After Alta left, Jason squinted his eyes and looked at the two little ones who were still staring at the door. He asked,
“Have you met her before?”
The two little ones were startled and immediately shook their heads.
“No.”
Lucas naturally said, “But for some reason, when we met her for the first time, we felt that she was particularly kind. That’s why we wanted to be close to her.”
The little guy added, “Lyla definitely feels the same.”
Upon hearing this, Lyla nodded without hesitation to express agreement. Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Jason still had some doubts in his mind.
He couldn’t help but feel that these two little ones knew Alta’s identity.
After all, her name was there for everyone to see.
They were also familiar with the Rogers!
However, the two little ones appeared sincere, and there was no trace of any ulterior motive.
In the end, Jason didn’t say anything further. He just looked at them and fell into contemplation…
Alta didn’t sleep much overnight. When she returned home, exhaustion was evident on her face.
Otto and Nina were having breakfast with their grandparents.
As soon as they saw her, Otto asked, “Mommy, how is Lyla doing?”
“Her fever has subsided, and there’s nothing to worry about now.”
“That’s good.”
At the dining table, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
After breakfast, Alta regained some energy. She changed into clean clothes and went to the company.
In the following period, she didn’t meet Jason again.
It was rumored that the annual meeting of Hill Group was approaching. As the CEO, Jason had many decisions to make, leaving him very busy.
During this time, Alta was focused on her research.
Just as she had finished working on a set of data, Lotus came over.
“Alta, the Hill Group’s annual meeting is always held grandly. Shareholders and the chairman of the board will attend. They will also invite some important clients.”
“In addition, they will prepare some lottery prizes and other benefits for the employees. In short, it will be lively! Will you attend?”
With those last words, Lotus’s tone carried a hint of anticipation.
Alta smiled faintly and replied, “I probably won’t! I’m not an employee of Hill Group. Besides, I’ve already started optimizing the formula. My work will probably be completed before your annual meeting.”
“Is that so? I thought we could attend together. What a Pity…”
Lotus looked regretful.
“What’s there to pity?”
Alta chuckled at her tone. She said, “It’s just an event. If you attend too many, it starts to feel boring. I’m not interested.”
Lotus looked at her deeply and said, “That’s what you say, but this year’s opening performance at the annual meeting is a dance! It’s said that the CEO will personally perform… As for the dance partner, everyone is guessing who it will be!”
A mysterious smile appeared on her face. She continued, “In the employee chat group, everyone is talking about you. If you don’t go, someone else might benefited from this opportunity.”
