Chapter 18
Lilian was so busy with her clothes, that she wasn’t after how Xavier felt at the moment. All she wants is this opportunity, she believes it’s the only way to get him to herself alone.
She picked up her cell phone and dialed a cab driver whom she pleaded with to come around and pick her up.
With that call, Xavier felt irritated the most, he doesn’t care how she would feel anymore.
“In my presence, Lilian. You had the guts to give another man a call.” He yelled at her, he felt a stream of fire burning his heart.
Lilian pouted her lips. “He’s just a cab driver, and he will be here to pick me up.”
“We decided that you will be here for a week, and the week isn’t over yet. Lilian, tell me what exactly is wrong with you.” He snapped her face and moved towards her.
Lilian tried escaping his grip but he caught her into his full left palm. It’s damn painful feeling his grip when he’s annoyed.
“Xavier, I’m tired of all this. First, it’s all about the lady you employed as a babysitter, now it’s all about staying at home but doing nothing… I don’t just like it at all.” She complained.
He pushed her to the bed, his glasses made Lilian understand how irritated he felt at the moment.
“I’m the one taking you in an aspect, besides you never wanted to work. And if you’re ready to work now, must it be as my manager? Aren’t there better jobs out there that you can choose except working in my company?”
Lilian hissed, she had never wanted to work, but the fact that ladies are flirting around her fiance… she had to take that decision assuring herself of gaining his heart with that.
“I don’t want any other work, I want to be the manager in your company. Besides Xavier, you aren’t supposed to think about this… we’re getting married soon and everything you have will be ours.”
He pulled away his jacket and shirt, unlocked his trousers, and had them off his body.
He made his way to the wardrobe and grabbed his sweat pants and a free polo which he had on.
“You have yet to tell me who the cab driver is. I have a driver here that can take you home and you know that…”
She stood on his feet and began pacing around the room. “And then, I’d like to know who the babysitter is too. I pleaded you shouldn’t employ her but you persisted, and here you are asking me who the cab driver is to me.”
“She’s just a cab driver as you know.” She declared to his hearing.
Xavier took a deep breath, he grabbed his cellphone and began scrolling through his contact in the search for Vanessa’s number.
Ouch! It struck his head that he hasn’t gotten her contact, he needs to set his eyes on Chloe.
“Can you ever babysit Chloe?” He asked her.
She widened her eyes in great shock. “Of course, it’s not a big deal.”
He smiled widely and then chiseled his face again. “It’s not a big deal to that lady who can take good care of kids. It’s never a big deal to Vanessa…”
She frowned while listening to all he had to say.
“But it’s a big deal to Lilian. Yes, it’s a big deal to you…”
“What sort of insult is that Xavier? Why speak ill of me?” She queried him.
Xavier got seated on the bed. He studied her from the head to the feet.
“Lilian, you ate all the prepared meals but were unable to prepare another for my kids. You starved my children, and still had the guts to tell me how you will be able to babysit my little daughter…”
She was seated beside him. “You expect me to prepare the meal for your grown-up kids, aren’t they big enough to prepare the meal themselves? Oh. Oh.. okay, that’s why you don’t want me to work right? So I can be your housewife…”
“Is Vanessa idle even as you employed her in your home?” She scolded him.
“Vanessa has been working all this while, but Lilian… I met you idle. I pleaded to get a job for you but you declined the offer, and now you’re interested in being a worker, but as my manager… What the heck is that? Should I sack my manager because of you?…”
He glared at her with utmost anger that Lilian couldn’t glance at him.
“Employing me as your manager is the only thing that will keep binding the two of us together till eternity. But if you persist in not granting my request, then forget everything about me in your life…” Lilian started aggressively.
Xavier watched her utter the words, he only smiled inwardly.
“Sorry, but you must be insane, Miss. I don’t think this is the Lilian I met earlier.” He commented and left for the bathroom.
Lilian couldn’t say a word, she knew what was going on between them and she isn’t insane. If only she can get this opportunity, then it will be the best.
With this idea of hers, she believes that everything won’t be lost if Xavier ever leaves her.
He stepped out of the bathroom to hear Chloe calling him out from the corridor. Before he could respond to it, she banged the door open and moved in.Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
She ran into his arms in an embrace and he held her to himself.
Chloe glanced at Lilian who sat on the bed and contorted her face. She pointed her fingers at Lilian tapping her father.
“She starved me, and I left to ma’am Vanessa bakery,” Chloe stated.
Xavier glanced at Lilian and looked off, the little girl had made him remember the source of his anger, and he wouldn’t like to speak of it in her presence.
“Don’t worry, Tracy will prepare dinner quickly. I believe Vanessa is here, go stay with her until I come downstairs.” He referred to Chloe who climbed down from his body and left the room.
He turned to Lilian again, this time more annoyed than earlier.
“You just heard what the little girl said, right? Lilian, you starved her but still claim that you can take good care of my children…” Xavier sputtered out of anger.
She couldn’t utter a word, her eyes only affixed to the wall while he retorted at her.
“You want to be employed as my manager, how can you handle the work there when you can’t handle my home…?
“And now, you just called a cab driver to come to pick you up, when you’re aware that I have a driver and can also drop you off… yet you want me to sack Vanessa without a reason…”
He dipped his palm into his pocket and leaned on the wall, thereby facing her entirely.
“Lilian, the door is open for you to go…” he declared.
She lifted her face forcefully just to be sure who made the statement, and precisely, it was Xavier standing opposite her.
No! She shook her head in regret. This time she’s standing against the decision she took.
“My family means a lot to me, and my children are my priority. If you can’t be able to take good care of them as your child, then I don’t see any reason for your stay here…”
“There are so many jobs that I can get for you, and if you want to be on your own, then I’ll help you with that since I haven’t opened a second company…”
He moved towards her and gripped her palm staring into her eyes. Truly, he had loved this soul so much, but he can’t go against his will because of love.
“I love you so much, Lilian. But if you feel like you’ve overstayed your welcome, then feel free to go… And if you think I’m worthless in your life without granting you those favors, then there are other wealthy men out there you can run to…” He remarked and left the room.
Lilian wasn’t herself any longer, she noticed sweating profusely in an air-conditioned room.
This isn’t what she has expected from Xavier. Yes, she’s aware that he loves her so much, but never believed he can’t do without her.
She dipped her finger into her hair and began rumbling it, her palm grabbed the pillow and she threw it aside.
Shit! This is a fucking mess she’s into. A hell that isn’t easy to escape from.
Now, Xavier had believed she was leaving, but she will never try that shit. The best is to let the cab driver be aware that she isn’t leaving again.
She believes that Xavier will spare neither her nor the driver if he ever sets his eyes on him.
She picked up her cellphone and began dialing his contact but couldn’t reach him, it frightened her the most.
