Divorcing

Chapter 36

Chapter 36: Betrayal

Chloe’s eyes sparkled with clarity.

It seemed to have the power to see right through people’s hearts, making Cathy feel a chill of fear.

But she quickly caught on.

“Chloe’s just a power–hungry clown,” she thought. “What’s she even babbling about?”

Cathy let out a cold chuckle and extended her hand. “You dare

hit me?”

Her long nails slashed toward Chloe’s face.

Chloe squinted slightly.

Just as she was about to move, someone appeared right in front

of her, yanked her back, and blocked her path.

Then, the person grabbed Cathy’s wrist with one hand.

“What are you up to?”

Chloe stared at Quinn in shock, then quickly turned to Candy.

“What the heck is he doing here?” she wondered.

Candy shrugged, clueless.

Out of nowhere, Quinn appeared. He was strikingly handsome, with chiseled features and a strong, captivating presence.

Cathy jumped. “Who are you?”

“Chloe’s buddy.” Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

The word “friend” sounded pretty ordinary, but to Cathy, it was like nails on a chalkboard.

She thought, “Wow, Chloe has such a handsome guy with her?”

“Having Michael isn’t enough for her; she’s still flirting with other guys.”

“Chloe, no wonder my mom says you’re no good. While Michael’s busting his butt at work, you’re out here shopping with some guy. Are you trying to let the whole world know you’re cheating?”

“Does Michael know how much you’re embarrassing the Shawn family? Just wait. I’ll expose you for who you really are.”

Cathy spun around and walked away, pulling out her phone as she went.

She finally found Chloe’s weak spot–no way she was letting her off the hook.

Hearing that, Chloe was taken aback. She thought, “What on

earth is Cathy thinking?

How could I ever end up with Quinn?

But if she tells Michael, things between him and me will get even

worse.

If Michael gets mad again, there’s no way I’ll ever get that divorce.

Chloe wanted to catch up with Cathy to explain, but Cathy was walking so fast she didn’t get the chance.

She thought, “Whatever. Let it be.”

I did nothing wrong, so there’s nothing for me to fear.

After all, there’s more chemistry between Michael and Lucy.

As soon as Cathy left, Candy grabbed Quinn’s arm. “What are you doing here? How do you always show up right on time?”

“I’m grabbing a bite.”

Quinn spun around to face Chloe. “You alright? Are you hurt?”

He’d just grabbed a bite nearby when he saw her getting hassled. Without a second thought, he rushed over.

Candy raised an eyebrow, thinking, “He keeps it short with me, but he chats up a storm with Chloe.”

Candy suggested, “Since we ran into each other, why not grab a bite together?”

Candy dragged the two into the nearby diner.

Chloe loved spicy food. After a bit, her lips turned fiery red.

Quinn kept stealing glances at her.

Candy couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow, thinking, “Something’s definitely off with him.”

I asked him to help me before, but he refused every time. The moment I mentioned Chloe, he showed up.

“Alright, since we’re bros, I’ll give him a hand.”

Candy speared a piece of steak with her fork and grinned, “By the way, your place still unfurnished?”

“Yeah, but I’ve already ordered the furniture. It should be here in a few days, so I’ll be moving in soon.”

“Just hand the keys to Quinn and have him keep an eye on things.”

“Not a great idea, huh?”

“You’re friends. What’s wrong with that?”

While munching on her steak, Candy shot Quinn a playful wink.

After a moment’s thought, Quinn said coolly, “No problem.”

Chloe felt a bit awkward at first, but seeing how quickly he agreed, she decided to go with it.

She grabbed her bag, pulled out the keys, and handed them to him.

Meanwhile, in his office, Michael sat back while his assistant Ethan updated him on the day’s progress.

He suddenly asked, “Did you find out who Jioleek is?”

“Not yet…”
