Chapter 76
Unice’s PoV
Eight months have passed, and I’m working from home because my tummy is large. Fortunately, my ob-gyn is guiding me through this process. I discovered my child is a boy in my recent ultrasound, and I told Ace about it. He was happy that it was a boy, and he told me that he would teach him good manners and that he would not allow him to be like him. We can see each other during Ace’s treatment in the mental hospital, which Dr. Henry allowed us, for which I am grateful.
“Do you want some hot chocolate with marshmallows?” While typing on the laptop, I heard Zoey ask me a question; she has the day off today, and it’s Friday.
“All right, give me some hot chocolate with marshmallows,” I respond, returning to my laptop to type. I’m currently working on a contract to open a new shop, and I assigned Mr. Daffe to go there because I can’t because I’m pregnant.
I paused typing and rubbed my stomach. I felt the kick inside and smiled, thinking that if Ace was here, he’d be overjoyed if he felt our baby kick. There is also news about Ace being in the mental hospital; he is currently taking medications and is doing well, according to Dr. Henry.
Eventually, he will be paroled in 7 years because of his condition, and as the judge’s decision is too long for me, our son will be grown then. I noticed Zoey enter the living room and set the mug with hot chocolate and marshmallow inside.
“Thank you very much, Zoey.” I expressed my gratitude to her.
“Do you feel anything? It’s already been eight months, and I’m afraid you’re going to give birth; I’ve already packed everything we’ll need,” Zoey inquired, and I sipped my chocolate.
“If I give birth to him today, I know you’ll be ready. You should call Max because he is now your boyfriend, and I am happy for both of you.” I said, and she smiled as I noticed the blush on her cheeks.
“You helped me get close to him, and eventually, our relationship developed over time; I don’t know how to thank you, but I wouldn’t leave you until Ace returned,” Zoey thanked and assured me.
“Even you get married and have children?” I asked her a question, and she nodded.
“Without a doubt! We’ll look after each other!” Zoey made a promise and looked at my laptop screen.
“You’re not finished yet? Do you want me to assist you? Even though I only know how to make coffee, milkshakes, and warm chocolates?” Zoey asked, and she laughed.
“Read it and let me know if you understand it; thanks to Max and Charlie for teaching me how to understand this type of work; it was difficult at first, but I eventually got the hang of it,” I clarified with her, and she decided to read the contract I drafted; I included some of Ace’s work, which is the contract he drafted for Mr. Daffe.
After a few minutes of sipping from my mug, she looked at me and laughed. I knew she didn’t understand the contract I had made.
“I can’t do what you’re doing; you’re a genius, Unice. I believe your son will be like you, with half of him becoming Ace,” Zoey applauded, and I set the mug down because I noticed something wet on my seat.
I stood up from my seat and felt pain in my tummy. When I saw the water had broken, Zoey panicked and shut down the laptop.
“Zoey, I think it’s time,” I said.Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
“Tom! We need assistance!” Zoey yelled, and I sat down again because I couldn’t stand up straight. I was in pain, and I think my baby boy was about to come out.
“Unice is about to go into labor! Pick up the bag in my room, I’ve already prepared everything, and Justin assists Unice in leaving the house and getting into the car.” Zoey exclaimed, and I remained silent because I was so hurt.
“Exhale and inhale, Miss Unice, don’t be surprised if I come to pick you up,” Justin advised, and I nodded; he picked me up, and we went outside; he put me inside the van that we would use if I begin labor because it is spacious.
“Hurry!” Justin yelled, and I noticed Zoey and Tom approaching with a travel bag. They then went inside the car, and I felt Zoey touch my hand as Justine started the van.
“We’ll be at the hospital soon, Unice. You need to calm down and control your breathing,” Zoey said, I’m already doing that, but it hurts.
Ace’s PoV
I’m at the canteen with the other patient because I’m hungry; when the old lady places food on my plate, I thank her and then look for a seat. I sit down and wonder how Unice is doing; it’s already been eight months, and I believe she’ll be in labor soon; I hope she’ll be okay.
I started eating when I noticed Dr. Henry approaching me with a phone in his hand.
“Ace! Your fiancée is about to give birth; she is currently in the hospital, and your friend called me.” I was speechless when I heard the news, he said.
“Is she still in the hospital? Is she okay?” Dr. Henry nodded when I asked him a question.
“We must wait; I am confident she will be fine. She’s strong and healthy, and I know she can do it even if I’m absent without her side.” He tapped my shoulder as I continued.
“That’s right, you should relax; everything will be fine. I’ll keep you updated if they call again.” I nodded as Dr. Henry advised. I must remind myself everything will be fine if Zoey, Tom, and Max are with her.
He stood up and walked away, and I noticed my one friend approaching me with his tray and food; he sat down, and I smiled; he was also a patient at the facility and talked with someone we didn’t see.
“What did the doctor tell you?” Warren inquires if he is also on medication.
“I told you I had a fiancé, didn’t I? She is pregnant and will give birth to my son,” I explained and drank the water from the bottle.
“That’s wonderful news; how was she?” He stated.
“Dr. Henry will keep me updated because she’s still in the emergency room,” I explained, and he nodded.
“I’m happy for you; when I met her, she was a person who was kind and loyal to you,” Warren added. I smiled because I remembered Unice being a kind person to others.
“But, even though you have a child, you’ll be released after 7 years, right?” Warren inquired, and I nodded.
“It’s okay. I know Unice will introduce my child to me, so he is aware,” I replied after finishing my meal.
“Are you certain you will tell your child where you are?” Warren inquired, and I was taken aback; he was correct; I should not have let Unice come here with our son.
“You are correct, Warren, I will return to my room now,” I told him, and he nodded as I stood up, picked up the tray, and placed it back on the counter.
Returned to my room, sat down, and patiently waited for the update. I was nervous and excited at the same time. I didn’t tell Dr. Henry I was worried because he knows how much I love Unice and that I can’t lose her. After all, I told him my parents were murdered and abandoned me as a child.
I don’t want to lose someone else, and I especially don’t want to lose my son; I’m a father now and proud of it; once I’m released, I’ll plan a wedding for myself and Unice.
After an hour, I heard a knock on the door, and it was Dr. Henry. He showed me the video call with Unice holding our son, and I slowly smiled and waved at her.
“That’s Ace! Look at how adorable your son is!” Tom was holding the phone when I heard Zoey’s voice.
“Do you want to speak with her for a minute? I’ll be outside for 30 minutes,” Dr. Henry insisted, and I nodded.
“Yes, thank you very much, Dr. Henry,” I thanked him, and he tapped my shoulder before closing the door to my room.
