“Can you just stop that?” Cole glared at Vanessa, stopping in his tracks.

Vanessa instantly ended the live video. “What did I do wrong, baby? I was only trying to let my fans know that we are back together and they are happy for us. They want to know when we are getting married.”

“How many times do I have to tell you that I don’t want myself or my business on your page or any social media platforms?”

“You know that is not possible, Cole. I am a celebrity and people need to know the good things about me. You don’t expect things to be going well between you and me and then expect me to keep it a secret!”

“I’m definitely going to flaunt you for the world to see and most importantly, for people to know that you are

mine.”

Cole sighed, massaging his temple, wondering what the hell he had gotten himself into.

He continued his steps and made his way over to the car, helping himself into the driver seat.

“Won’t you open the door for me?” Vanessa voiced out, expecting Cole to come down from the car and do the needful but he surprised her instead as he started the car engine,

She mumbled some incoherent words, making her way to the front passenger seat and helping herself in.

“You don’t have to be mean to me. This is out as a couple in such a long time. I’m very happy about it and that made me decide to share the news with my fans.”

Cole said nothing as his gaze was focused on the road.

“You can’t be mad at me forever you know?”

“Leave me out of your social media pages.”

Vanessa sighed. “If you insist.”

“When are we going to get married?”

Silence.

“I was thinking in two Saturdays! I already found the perfect wedding dress. The designer is going to forward the invoice to you.”

“That date isn’t convenient for me,” Cole said, not taking a glance at her.

“Why?” She frowned.

“I will be going on a business trip.”

“Come on, Cole. What is more important than your personal life and us being a family.”

“You want a big wedding party, right?” He took a glance at her for the first time since she got into the car.

“Yes!” Vanessa smiled, nodding-

“Then you would have to wait.”

“Wait? For how long? Why?” The smile slowly leaving her face.

“I can’t afford a big party right now.”

Vanessa’s heart fell. There was no way she was going to get married to Cole and the whole world wasn’t going to

know about it.

“What do you mean you can’t afford a big party?”

“My company is going through a bit of financial issues. I am sure you are aware of that.”

“I know but don’t you have money saved up somewhere? Ask your father, I am sure he had some trust fund set aside for your wedding.”

Nothing like that. You can ask your father if he has some trust fund set aside for your wedding.” He directed at

her.

“Of course not. Why would you even think that? You know my Dad is broke. And you also know the company is

just trying to get back to its feet.”

“I know what you are doing, Cole. There is no way I am going to have a small wedding with you” She grumbled.

“Then I guess you would have to wait.”

“For how long?”

“Till I have some money again.”

“Come on, Cole. You can’t do this to me.”

“I don’t get it. What’s bad about having a small wedding if that is what we can afford right now?”

“No, I’m not settling for less.”

“I know things aren’t really rosy for you, but I know they are not as terrible as you are making it seem.”

“You can afford to give me my dream wedding, Cole. Sell one of your properties if you have to. Get loans. I don’t care what you do but just do something!!!”

“You are really sounding like a gold digger. You know that right?”

“Of course not!” She rolled her eyes at him with his attention on the road.

“I am your wife and it is my duty to request things from you. There is no way I am going to have a low–profile wedding with you, Cole. You and I are celebrities which means we’ve got to have a standard wedding. One that would still be referenced in years to come.”

Getting tired of this back–and–forth conversation, Cole looked for a safe place ahead and stopped the car. Then he turned his full attention to Vanessa. “Do you really want us to get married because you love me or because you have a point to prove to people?”

“Of course, I love you, Cole. Why would you even doubt that?”

“Because if you truly love me as you claim, then nothing else would matter to you other than me.”

“Of course, I love you deeply but I’m not going to settle for less. Try to understand me, baby. This is a big deal for me. I am only going to get married once and I want it to be memorable.”

“Then you would have to wait till next year.”

“No, I can’t.”

“Maybe we should call off the wedding.”

“I know what you are trying to do, Cole. You promised my mother that you are going to get married to me and you must fulfill your promise!”

Cole scoffed, mumbling some inaudible words. “I promised your mother that because she wouldn’t let me be. I told her I was going to

marry you. I didn’t give in to throwing you a big wedding party!”

“And I am not going to allow you to talk me into something I’m not financially or mentally prepared for. I know how you and your mother killed Summers Incorporations with so many demands and funds extortion.”

“I don’t love you, Vanessa, and if you are in this because you are after my property or my wealth, I’m happy to let you know that you have failed. There is no way I am getting married to you without signing an agreement.”

Vanessa stared in disbelief, trying to find her voice. “What has come over you? I thought you loved me?”

“Did you drug me on the night of our supposed engagement so that I could end in bed with your sister?”

“I don’t know what you are talking about,” Vee answered immediately.

“And don’t you dare call that bitch my sister!”

“The person you are referring to as a bitch is my legally wedded wife so be careful how you talk about her.” This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

Vanessa felt tears welling up in her eyes. “Did you plan this date to insult me?”

“I am not insulting you. I’m talking based on reality. I know I was sane when I arrived at the party. You gave me a drink and told me to meet you in the guest room in a couple of minutes. I saw a lady in the guest room changing her dress which was stained. I thought that was you and I slept with her. You spiked my drink didn’t you?”
