Chapter 6
Chapter 6
Aunty Julianne could easily tell that Arthur was angry. She hastily said yes and start packing everything in a rush. Touching the high-quality fabric of the clothes, she thought what a waste it was.
After the stuff were taken away, the bedroom seemed to feel a whole lot emptier. Even the white roses on the dressing table had been taken away.
Arthur sat alone in the bedroom. Looking around, it looked like Lucy was never there. Even the fading smell of old perfume was gone.
He smoked one cigarette after another, the lingering smoke blurring his handsome face and dark pupils. His eyes reflected his restless emotions.
...
Over the next few days, the company was busy developing a new project, and Arthur devoted himself to his work. However, his subordinates could feel his frigidness and pompousness more keenly than usual. All of them tiptoed around him fearfully.
In the bright, spacious office, Arthur was standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows on a phone call. His eyebrows were tightly furrowed.
"Hello?" A delicate female voice came from the speakers.
"Kylah, where did Lucy go?" Arthur's voice was slightly hoarse. His chin was covered with stubble and his eyes were bloodshot.
Aunty Julianne could easily tell that Arthur was angry. She hastily said yes and start packing everything in a rush. Touching the high-quality fabric of the clothes, she thought what a waste it was.
The ashtray on his desk was already filled with cigarette butts. He had stopped smoking for many years, but since the night Lucy had left, he seemed to be unable to cut off smoking.
Kylah was silent for a long time. "Oh, I know it's a piece of cake for Mr. Johnson to get my number. But unfortunately, I don't know anything. You're talking to the wrong person."
"You're Lucy's best friend. Tell me, did she board the plane to Southerland on the 12th? Was it the same flight that crashed?!"
Arthur was very depressed. Since when did everything go out of his control?
Kylah choked, but said nothing for a long time.
"Perhaps you want your boyfriend to continue working in a foreign branch? Judging by how arrogant he is, I think he won't accept the help from a rich, beautiful girl."
Since she wouldn't take the easy way, he would use the hard way.
Arthur slowly put out his cigarette. He had many ways to make Kylah talk.
"Are you threatening me?" Kylah was so angry that she slammed her cup of tea against her desk. "Arthur, what exactly do you want to know?"
"You just have to answer yes or no."
"Arthur, let me ask you instead. Is your heart made of stone?" Kylah suddenly burst out. "It's been so many days since the incident, but until today you just thought of her and cared about where she is?" Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
"I don't believe she's deod. If she's hiding ot your ploce, tell her to come bock like o good girl. Otherwise..."
He hod investigoted into it. After the plone crosh, not o single body could be found. The oreo wos so lorge. Only god knew where everyone hod disoppeored to.
Furthermore, it hod croshed into o desert out of oll ploces. A gust of wind wos enough to bury the bodies deep in the sond. Even if he osked some people to dig for them, they couldn't possibly dig through the entire desert.
Kyloh suddenly loughed. "Otherwise? Otherwise whot? Hoven't you hurt her enough? Why don't you just let her stoy in the desert, for owoy from City A where you ore!"
"Oh, by the woy." She poused ond dropped onother bombshell—
"Arthur, you moy not know this, but Lucy is olreody four months pregnont. Lost time, she even osked me corefully whether the child would be oborted becouse of your distoste. Now, two lives ore lost ot the some time! Are you hoppy now?!"
Her words were like on otomic bomb exploding in o peoceful town.
"I don't believe she's dead. If she's hiding at your place, tell her to come back like a good girl. Otherwise..."
He had investigated into it. After the plane crash, not a single body could be found. The area was so large. Only god knew where everyone had disappeared to.
Furthermore, it had crashed into a desert out of all places. A gust of wind was enough to bury the bodies deep in the sand. Even if he asked some people to dig for them, they couldn't possibly dig through the entire desert.
Kylah suddenly laughed. "Otherwise? Otherwise what? Haven't you hurt her enough? Why don't you just let her stay in the desert, far away from City A where you are!"
"Oh, by the way." She paused and dropped another bombshell—
"Arthur, you may not know this, but Lucy is already four months pregnant. Last time, she even asked me carefully whether the child would be aborted because of your distaste. Now, two lives are lost at the same time! Are you happy now?!"
Her words were like an atomic bomb exploding in a peaceful town.
