Chapter 68

A bad omen

Barbra stood by the bridge, craning her neck if he was coming, but he wasn’t coming, she couldn’t find him.

“What’s taking him so long, he said he was already here but he wasn’t.” She grumbled. She didn’t want to leave Elina all alone waiting for her. But he was taking so much time. Sighing, she saw someone who looks like him coming. He stood in front of her.

“You ain’t Ray?”

“You must be Barbra..”

“Yeah.. who are you? Why are you wearing Ray’s shirt?”

“We kinda lived together, he asked me to come to get you. Come with me, I’ll show you where he’s.”

She blinked, staring at him. This was wrong, something was wrong, this isn’t it. She scrutinized him in just a few seconds he was standing beside her.

Ray didn’t send him.

She would be dumb to believe his shitty lies.

“Sure.” She replied to him and turned to follow him from behind. When he was ahead, she twirled backward running out of the bridge.

Her bag fell from her hold, she couldn’t go back to pick it up. So she ran instead, running just as fast as she could. Running was mostly what she learned to do, and there was no way he could get her.

“Shit!” He cussed when he lost her. Panting as he tried to catch his breath. She was hiding around the corners somewhere.

“Come out you little witch!” He groaned.

“If I get you, it won’t be so funny.”

“Come out, while I’m being good. Else you won’t like that.”

He pants, staring at the alley.

Damn her!

His phone rang from his pocket. He pulled it out from his pocket and stare at the caller.

Boss.

“Hello,”

“Have you seen her?”

“I did, but she escaped. She notice something was wrong.”

“Bitch!”

“She’s hiding somewhere, I can’t find her.”

“Make sure you do and then killed her. You shouldn’t let her alive. She can’t stay alive. You get it.”

“Yes, Boss.”

Barbra sighed and looked away, the voice was Hazard, there was no doubt about it. He wanted her dead, he planned all this, this was his plan to kill her. Leaning on the wall as she stares at the skies. Elina, how was she, if Ray wasn’t here did he go to her.

What is he gonna do to her?

She would open the door for him because he was Ray and Ray also had a spare key!

She felt her heart almost collapse, was that why he asked for her keys.

He planned this, he wanted to hurt her! Ray would never hurt her, he would never do that.

“Oh well, I can see your little feet. Girl, you’re a good runner, I can say.”

He was close to the part she was hiding, she held her breath and waited for him to get close.

“Got ya!” She kicked him, immediately in his groin. Before he could reach out to her. He groaned falling back, he hadn’t expected that.

She ran out of the corner she hid. Running safety. If anything happens to Elina, he won’t be forgiven. This was all her fault if she had listened and stayed. If she hadn’t played a fool. Maybe this won’t have happened at all.

Thinking slow her down, she couldn’t run fast if she had so much thought weighing her down, as she felt guilty, cause Elina would be in danger.

She had to go to her, rescue Elina. Running, she had no ideas someone was running as well from her side.

And the next thing she heard was boom!

She was once the best runner when she lived with Hazard, he trained her. Sexually and how to run. That was the only thing she did.

And now, she failed…

she was the fastest anymore, she had gone weak, she had failed, failed to protect her best friend, failed to secure the friendship, failed because she feel for the wrong person.

Someone that wasn’t met for her. Failed because she wasted time.

Failed for letting her heart lead without using her head as well.

She failed to see, that Ray, wasn’t for her. And all her life, there had been just one person who loved her, who cared for her, despite the lies she said to her face, despite the hate.

She failed to see, Elina right there, from the very beginning, a sister, a best friend, a family, the only one she got.

She fell face down on the sound, at the same time, Elina was falling just where she was.

Another bullet flew past her head. As she lay on the ground, gasping for breath.

“You can never run from a bullet.” He smirked, staring down at her face.

“Bastard!” She spat out blood.

He marched her face with his heavy boot.

“Do you know why this is happening to you? Do you wanna know why? It’s because of that shitty Elina. She’s the reason you had to die.”

“It’s not it. I know the reason,” with every hard breath she took.

“He doesn’t want to see himself lose. Hazard the bastard, he hated me. He wanted to kill me because I flee to Kenzo.”

He marched her face again. She groaned. Spilling more blood. She couldn’t say anything else, she was already weakened. Her eyes were closing and Elina’s face was shown in front of her.

“We’ve got to be together, you’re gonna be a godmother. You’ve got this..”

she smiled wryly and whispered.

“I’m sorry.” And her eyes shut.

Kenzo stood up from the bed with a bad headache, he hadn’t taken anything last night yet he was having so much of a bad headache, what could have been the cause of it. Getting out of the room, while he slip a shirt on, he saw Aziel standing by the door with his phone in his hands.

“Who were you talking to?”

“Elina, she called.” He replied with a smile.

“You haven’t told me about this sister stuff you mentioned. Argh!”

“What’s the wrong master.”

“I’m having a bad headache.”

“You just woke up.”

“I know right. Send for Aziel..”

“I’m right here.”Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.

“I mean Ezra. My head hurts.” Aziel led him to the living room and helped him settle himself on a seat. With his hands holding his head.

“How much does it hurt.”

“So much.” He groaned. Leaning on the headrest. Aziel went over to the telephone, putting a call through Ezra.

“You need to come here this instance.”

“what’s wrong.”

“The master is sick.”

“What’s he complaining of.”

“A bad headache.”

“On my way.”

“Is there anything I could do to help?”

“Try telling him everything is okay. He once had a symptom as this.”

“Is it a bad thing?”

“It’s not.”

“What’s it then.”

“A sign.”

Aziel placed the white towel on his head. If he could relieve the pain a little. Ezra asked him to do that as well. But he was getting any better.

“Tell me something, about Elina. How you guys became family.”

“Would it help?”

“I don’t know, I wanna get my head off some thoughts, it like my head is gonna fall off.”

“Okay. It goes like this..” He began.

“I was 13 when my parents were expecting a baby. It took a long time you see, I was already a teen. And now they were expecting. I was excited I was gonna have a baby. And it was gonna be a girl. I was already prepared to love her. Because I so much wanted one. I started calling her Elina when she was still in the womb. And when she was born, she was so tiny, cute, and beautiful.” He sniffed. It felt like it was yesterday when she was born.

He saw Kenzo staring at him. Ezra was already standing beside them.

“And she grew up to be beautiful and smart even without the family beside her,” Ezra said.

“How is your headache. Does it still ache so much?”

“Not as much as the first.”

“Call Elina. Something is wrong. Something is happening to her.” Ezra announced.

“Where is sambas?”

“I’ve sent him to go check up on her.”

The door flung opened and Sambas ran it. Still panting, he yelled.

“Elina! She’s missing!”

“What!” Kenzo jumped up. Was that why he was feeling this way. The headache, a sign of what, it can’t be dead! He did feel this way when his master Emilo died.

Elina, you better be safe!
