Chapter 29

So, Tilda was the only one to whom Niamh flashed a faint smile.

When Castiel turned around, he happened to see the smile on her face that she'd been refusing to show him. Upon seeing that, his gaze became even icier, "Get Inside!" he ordered.

Niamh glanced at him without speaking and stepped inside. Her silence was driving him mad.

Castiel sat on the couch and lit a cigarette. The familiar smell of smoke and gasoline made Niamh frown.

"You won't even say a word to me now, huh?" The anger in his voice was palpable.

From the time when he'd first seen her in Schymia until now, she hadn't said a single word to him.

Niamh took a deep breath and finally said to him, "If you want to talk, you can speak with my lawyer." "Niamh."

"This is all that's left between us, isn't it?"

"It's because of him, right? Are you divorcing me because of that man?"

"Yes, you're right."

Castiel fell silent.

The air in the room seemed to freeze.

Castiel didn't know who Simon was. His trip to Schymia had been rushed, and Niamh had no intention of explaining anything to him. If this misunderstanding could spur him to end things between them, then so be it. Castiel got up and stormed out in anger. His whole body radiated fury. If he stayed any longer, he was afraid he might strangle her.

When Niamh was the only one left in the living room, Tilda came in. She looked at Niamh with eyes full of sympathy. "Mrs. Jamison, why do you insist on fighting with Mr. Jamison like this? It won't do any good for you." Niamh closed her eyes for a moment. "Tilda, do you really think I'm the one being unreasonable here?"

Tilda hesitated and stayed silent.

That wasn't the case at all. For half a year, Niamh hadn't uttered one word of discontent. The respect she showed and the way she went along with the Jamison family wasn't due to her being weak or slow to anger. It was because Castiel had meant the world to her. But somewhere along the way, his importance in her heart diminished.

With a sigh, Tilda said, "You know Mr. Jamison's character. He's not someone who would act Erecklessly. Maybe things with Ms. Duncan aren't what the rumors claim to be."

Niamh scoffed. If it wasn't like what the rumors sald, then what was it?

Since the rumors about Macy began, Castiel had never once given her any sort of explanation. If she hadn't lived through this before, and if she hadn't remembered her previous life, where she had blindly and stubbornly trusted Castiel.... In fact, ten years of devotion didn't mean a thing to some people.

Niamh's return to Greenburg caused another uproar. After all, her conflict with Castiel had been. the talk of the town. Much of the information was a mix of truth and lies, and many were waiting to see what would happen next.

Of course, unlike most people who were in for a good show, some were anxious and nervous. For example, Macy, Sienna, and especially Renee.NôvelDrama.Org content rights.

Renee had always disliked Niamh. Now that things had blown up so dramatically, she hated Niamh so much that she wished her daughter-in-law would just drop dead.

Niamh had been back for only two hours and hadn't even had time to rest when Renee arrived.

"How dare you show your face here again!" she shrieked.

"Why can't I be here?" Niamh replied calmly. Two hours had been enough for her to catch up on what had happened in Greenburg over the past three months.

If anyone should be ashamed, it was the Jamison family. Niamh hadn't realized how thoroughly she had exposed their hypocrisy.

Had it not been for the Jamison family's status in Greenburg, who knew how much worse things would have been for them?
