Alpha’s Omega Mate

Chapter Twenty-one

Chapter twenty-one: Me or she?

“My lady, I am afraid you can’t be in the kitchen,” Joanna tried to hasten her steps to match with Cassy’s.

Cassy suddenly stopped on her track, causing Joanna’s face to collide with her back.

“Sorry, my lady. I’m really sorry,” she repeatedly apologized.

Cassy sighed and turned to look at the lady.

“What’s with you trying to stop me from going to the kitchen? Perhaps did the Alpha pay you to stop–”

“No no no your highness,” she waved her hand in front of her. “It’s not like that, it’s just–”

“I returned just yesterday, Joanna. Why have you decided to give me a headache?” without waiting for a reply, she continued walking, leaving the two servants behind.

Emma folded her arms across her chest, a triumphant smile on her face as she stood in front of the other lass.

“What now? Do you still feel like her favourite?” Emma mocked and giggled but the happy look on her face drained when she did not get any reaction from Joanna.

It was Joanna’s turn to smile now.

“What is it? Do you still feel like the boss and where are your feathers?” she looked around Emma’s butt causing her to shift away.

“What are you doing!? What feathers? I’m a wolf, not a bird demon,” she huffed, glowering at the lowly lass in front of her.

“Oh? You are a wolf? I never noticed,” Joanna put her left hand over her mouth feigning surprise which really annoyed Emma.

“I thought you were a peacock because all I can see are your dirty linens arranged as tails on your butt,” And again, with that Joanna was able to silence the overly proud peacock.

“Have a nice day!” It was Joanna’s turn to put on a triumphant smile.

She skipped away to go find her lady while Emma stopped there dumbfounded. How far can this young lass go?

“Too much disrespect,” she scoffed and folded her arms across her chest.

“Your highness,” Livia, the head cook, greeted as soon as Cassy entered the kitchen.

“Your highness,” all the servants quickly rushed to acknowledge her presence.

Cassy smiled and held Livia by her shoulder, lifting her up.

“Good day, Livia,” she greeted, still smiling.

“What have you come for, your highness?” the woman enquired and curtseyed.

“What is the kitchen for,” she joked. “I am here to prepare a meal of course,”

The servants began to whisper among themselves which created a buzzing sound in the room. Anyone passing by would have thought that the kitchen had been infested by bees.

“What is going on?”

“How could she be here? Does she want–”

“Quiet!” Livia shouted and the whole kitchen became quiet once again. It was as quiet as a graveyard.

She forced out a smile and bowed slightly. “I apologize for our rudeness, your highness but we can’t–”

“What are you preparing for breakfast today?” Cassy moved into the kitchen.

Livia sighed and looked upwards, silently praying to the moon goddess to help her.

Joanna could not help but shake her head. She could feel something, something she had felt before and she knew it was no good.

Something was definitely going to happen today and nothing was going to avert it.

Sighing, Joanna sauntered into the kitchen store where Cassy was giving orders on what to and not what to do.

While Cassy was in the kitchen store, a young lady walked into the kitchen with her nose hung in the air.

“I do not think you should be here today,” Livia told the lady who cast her a stern look.

“What do you mean I should not be here? You know why I am here! You, servants, keep cooking concoctions as meals and you expect me not to come here to make de–” she was interrupted by a familiar voice.

“Who do you think you are to make demands?” The owner of the voice appeared from the store and the frown on Isabella’s face deepened. Why was this good for nothing, omega always in her way?

“Are you not a servant just like them!?” Cassy questioned and put one foot in front of her, moving to meet the other but Joanna held her arm.

She turned and Joanna shook her head slightly.

Cassy hated to speak like this but she felt the woman in front of her deserved it. She was always with a bad attitude anytime they met which irked Cassy so much and drove her to say words that would put her in her place.

Isabella’s face was red with anger and she clenched her fist by her side.

Who gave her the guts to speak to her in such a manner?

She was boiling with anger. Had it not been for the Alpha she could have pounced on her and beat the life out of her.

Isabella brought her head down before lifting it up but this time there was a smile on her face as she bent her knees slightly.

“Your highness,” she greeted. “When did you get back?”

“Yesterday, with Kai,” Cassy replied with a faux smile. She was quick to detect the switch in the woman’s attitude despite still having a smile on her face.

The both of them stood there, every servant in the kitchen’s eyes were on them. Isabella was glaring at Cassy who still had a smile on her face. It seemed like she was enjoying whatever was going on.

“Oh,” Isabella finally spoke, a smile suddenly appearing on her face again. When did they become that close?

Cassy continued to order the servants and Isabella watched in irritation as they carried out their duties without complaining, even some with a smile on their faces.

She could not help but wonder if these were the same ‘idiots’ she’d order and they always took time to execute it.

How could they respect this lowly omega when she was the future Luna?

Isabella’s smile grew wider as an idea came into her head.

“Your highness, what are you doing among lowly servants like us or are you interested in joining your fellow–” she trailed off and snickered, her lips curving into a smirk as she studied Cassy’s frame which went still from the impact of her words.

She did not expect that from her but she also had an answer.

Cassy chuckled and turned to face her with a smile.

“Never have I seen where a mere assistant equated to a servant would make demands in the kitchen,” her face still held a smile as she watched the expected effect of her words on Isabella.

All thanks to Tabitha. She learnt really well from her.

Livia shook her head as she watched the two women, both of them for one man.

This was getting serious and she knew there was only one person who could quench the fire.

Turning to face the servant beside her, she ordered, “Request for the Alpha’s presence. Let him know it’s urgent,”

“Your majesty,” Beta Ben bowed as he stood in front of the Alpha.

Kai nodded slightly for Ben to continue.

“The goods are on board now. The invoice shall be sent before they would be transported to Blue moon back first before the others as you have requested,” Ben informed him.

Ben’s voice faded in his ears at the mention of the Blue moon pack.

Memories of his mate crowded his head as he stared blankly at the book in front of him, the words not making any meaning as the image of her beautiful smile when she was looking out of the carriage’s window played into his head.

The pout of her lips and the sound of her giggle when she touched a butterfly created a collage in his head.

Oh. Those lips…

When they landed on his, they felt so smooth and soft that he wanted to deepen the kiss but had to hold himself back.

But why had she thrown up? Was she irritated by him?

“Your majesty? Your majesty?” Ben called out. Kai had a small smile on his face as he continued staring at the book in his hands but never replied to the beta, causing him to wonder what was wrong with him.

Was he reading literature?Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.

Kai was the one that never liked those kinds of things, so it was impossible.

“Kai!” Ben yelled and his two palms collided with the desk in front of him, jolting the Alpha out of his reverie, his face turning cold.

“Why did you call me like that? It’s been long since you did that, Ben,” he rejoined and Ben chuckled.

“You had been so lost in your head so I had to,”

“Mm,” Kai replied, nodding.

“If there is nothing, I’ll take my leave now,” he bowed.

He was almost at the door when Kai spoke, halting his movements.

“I have a question,” he was trying his best not to sound nervous but Ben had already noticed.

Ben nodded, wondering what would make the ‘almighty’ Alpha Kai nervous.

He took in a deep breath before blurting out his question.

“Why would a woman throw up after kissing her?”

His friend threw his head back and burst out laughing, causing the Alpha to furrow his eyebrow.

“Who did you kiss? Cas–”

“I never said it was me,” he countered quickly. How did he know?

“Fine. Your friend,” he laughed. “What happened? Where were you– was your friend with this woman?”

“A carriage, returning from a trip. It happened when the carriage entered a bump,” he could not look at Ben. Why was he so shy?

“Oh. I see,” Ben nodded, smiling. “Then it must be–”

“Your highness! Your Highness!” a servant shouted and ran into the study.

“What is the problem!? How dare you intrude into the alpha’s premises?” Ben was the first to speak.

He was a lover of his privacy and so, he hated the actions of the lass.

“Your highness, it’s– it’s–” she panted, pointing outside and glaring at her, making her tremble.

“It’s my lady and… and…” she did not know how to address Isabella for she feared the alpha’s wrath.

Kai and Ben quickly realised what she was saying.

“Where are they?” Kai asked, standing.

“Kitchen,”

“What are you still waiting for? Does this place look like the infirmary?” Cassy said smiling.

Her words were met to attack but her face was shown the opposite.

Isabella’s face was red with anger. She continued glaring at her, unable to think of a word to say.

“What is going on here?” Kai walked in.

His eyes widened when he saw Cassy and Isabella facing each other.

Cassy was smiling, she looked joyful but Isabella’s face held the opposite look. She looked like she was about to punch her but was holding it back.

“Your majesty,” everyone greeted in unison but Kai did not hear.

“I said what is going on here!” he reiterated, his voice raising an octave higher.

“Oh,” Cassy faced him with a megawatt smile, one that almost melted his heart. “It’s nothing, Isabella just came to say hi to her fellow servants,”

Ben who was standing behind Kai tried to suppress his growing laughter but sounds escaped from his mouth.

Kai glared at Ben who quickly straightened up before turning to Cassy with a hardened look. “Come with me,” he ordered.

She chuckled. “Why? I’m not done with–”

“I said you should come with me and it’s an order!” he half yelled, causing everyone to flinch but he did not care as he

Shooting everyone an apologetic smile, she whispered, “I’ll be back,” before going in the direction he had gone.

She walked down the hallway, looking around for him until she found him standing and facing the artificial lake which stood in the middle of the palace, guarded by strong walls.

“What is the meaning of the behaviour you showed back there?” Kai asked without turning.

His anger emanated from him. He was trying everything to make sure those two did not meet but he was failing.

How did he know she was there? She had tried her best to be silent.

“I do not understand,” she replied nonchalantly.

Was he going to scold her again for that proud lass? Who exactly was she?

“What don’t you understand? Why were you in the kitchen!?” he asked, turning to look at her. “I remember quite clearly that I had banned you from entering the kitch–” she did not let him finish.

“And I also may have remembered quite clearly that you said we have nothing to do with each other?” She raised her eyebrows and tilted her head to the side.

Natalia whimpered as a thought came across her mind. Was that his lover? Or was she an enemy’s daughter that needed to be protected?

Was he always scolding her and not the peacock lady?

“Who are you standing up for? Me or she?” she blurted out without thinking.

Kai was staring at her unmoving.
