Chapter 913
Clare's heart was inexplicably restless.
It made him feel like he was on fire, making it difficult for him to control himself.
He had to see Sylvia immediately, as if only then could he feel a little relieved.
"Miss Andrews, there is something very important that | need to tell you about. It concerns your background," he said urgently.
Sylvia looked slightly stunned at the mention of her background. She knew about her mother's relationship with the Evans family, but... could there be other hidden secrets?
She had been searching for her mother's whereabouts for years and firmly believed that she was still alive. Could Clare have found some clues?
Her mind raced with a hundred thoughts.
As soon as she hung up the phone, she saw Franklin standing before her. His handsome eyebrows furrowed slightly with an air of curiosity. "What happened?"
"Mr. Hipps said there is something very important that concerns my background,” Sylvia rubbed her forehead in confusion; she couldn't quite figure it out yet.
“Let's have breakfast first." Franklin took hold of Sylvia's hand and led her to the dining table. "No matter what happens next, your health comes first."
"That makes sense." Sylvia nodded in agreement while taking a bite out of a steamed bun; she looked beautiful even when eating - elegant movements akin to watching an exquisite painting come alive on canvas - making it seem like she wasn't eating buns but rather delicacies from around the world instead!
Franklin raised an eyebrow and said. "Those students will soon be discharged from the hospital. They are young and ambitious; | welcome anyone who wants to work at Maskelyne Group or SouthStar Airlines as long as they are willing!"
Sylvia hesitated briefly before speaking. "But those stubborn parents... they might cause trouble..." "You're worried about me?" Franklin chuckled softly; his lips curled upwards showing off how good-natured he felt right now. "I'm trying to talk business here," Sylvia replied dryly while pretending to drink porridge without looking back at him.
Just hearing him speak like this made one's heartbeat quicken! Especially when he smiled — those pitch-black eyes reflecting morning light were particularly bright with confidence between his brows — extremely charming!
Sylvia lowered her head, pretending not looking at him anymore. As soon as they finished breakfast together though, the doorbell rang loudly throughout their villa...
The butler calmly pressed the doorbell, "Who is it so early in the morning?" Clare's voice came through the intercom, "It's me, Clare. I'm here to see Sylvia."
“Alright then. The door is open. Mr. Hipps, please come in." Although he had only been guarding Townyer Villa for a year and a half now, the butler knew that Franklin and Sylvia were acquainted with this famous Mr. Hipps.
Naturally, he wouldn't stop him from entering.
In no time at all, Clare rushed over with Mollie following behind him in bright clothing. They looked like a perfect match as if they were made for each other.
Although it was his first time meeting them both, the butler was very pleased. "Please have a seat; my young master is washing dishes while my mistress is upstairs."
"Washing dishes?" Clare suspected that his ears were playing tricks on him. He didn't sit down; instead he walked towards the kitchen where he heard water flowing before even stepping inside.
He stood at the kitchen doorway, staring at Franklin, who was standing next to the sink, washing dishes while rolling up his sleeves.
Mollie also became curious and approached to see what was happening; she couldn't help laughing out loud when she saw what they saw. "Mr. Maskelyne has such an interest?"
Franklin turned around, when he heard their voices, just as he finished placing one last dish on top of its rack after shaking off some water droplets from his hands before looking towards them both. "It's just a small hobby."
His expression remained calm without any embarrassment due to being caught doing household chores at home by others. Clare glanced over at an installed dishwasher above their heads. "Your hobby is unique since you have this dishwasher..." "Men doing housework won't lower their IQ," Franklin still looked indifferent as ever.
For some reason though, it felt like they were forced to see display of affection...
Clare and Mollie exchanged glances before Mollie happily said. "... when we get married someday, you'll wash dishes too!"
Clare felt something swell up inside his chest... they hadn't even set any wedding date, yet she already planned on marrying him?
But before he could think too much about it, Sylvia came downstairs...
"Mr. Hipps, Miss Gibson, early in the morning..." Sylvia's words were cut off as Clare suddenly strode towards her with almost a run, his movements urgent and fast, completely different from his usual gentle and refined demeanor.
Franklin didn't react at all before seeing Clare whirlwind-like approach Sylvia and wrap her tightly in his arms. He held her so tightly that it seemed like he was holding onto a precious treasure that had been lost and found again.
Franklin's chest tightened with an inexplicable anger rising up inside him. Was Clare crazy? Didn't he know that Sylvia was Franklin's? He had always treasured her like a precious gemstone, yet here was Clare shamelessly running into his home to snatch her away from him?
Was he trying to steal someone from Franklin? Didn't Clare have plans to get engaged to Mollie? What was going on here?
He glanced over at Mollie who didn't seem unhappy at all watching her fiance embrace another woman; instead she looked like she might cry.
What kind of drama was this?
Franklin felt extremely uncomfortable and wanted to step forward to separate them when suddenly Clare took two steps back. Sylvia had great strength and knew martial arts; she pushed him away forcefully while looking puzzledly at him.
"Mr. Hipps, what are you doing?" Her beautiful face showed a hint of confusion.
The jealous man inside Franklin wanted nothing more than to tear them apart! As Sylvia glanced over at Franklin, she saw the dark-as-ink expression on his face.
Clare stared blankly back at her - that very familiar pretty face appeared before him many times before - he always felt an inexplicable desire for closeness towards it but now realized it came from their blood ties.
Franklin stood guard in front of Sylvia with an annoyed warning look on his face. "Mr. Hipps, guests are walobirie t if ygu don twat fe throwing you out, then please behave yourself! "Sylvia helped you out when you needed it most," he continued sternly while glaring daggers into Mr. Hipps' eyes."Is this how you repay us?"
Suddenly feeling choked up inside like there was a rock stuck in his throat, he tried speaking but couldn't find his voice for quite some time...
"Sylvia... Sylvia..." he murmured, his voice dreamy. "| am your... | am your uncle!"
After saying this, he seemed to have used up all his strength and rushed towards the coffee table wh

However, just as he opened the folder, his face fell.
He stared at it in disbelief because after being soaked in seawater for a long time, the papers inside had become damp and stuck together. The writing on them had blurred into an unreadable mess.
His heart felt like it was being pierced by a sharp needle; the pain made him grit his teeth. This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
Refusing to believe what had happened, he threw down the folder and frantically opened two more. But each one was so waterlogged that nothing could be read from them either.
His tall frame suddenly seemed drained of energy; he swayed before collapsing onto the ground with a thud. "It's gone... all these results are gone."
His eyes turned red with despair; everything that he had been protecting so fiercely - even risking throwing away into the ocean - was now destroyed by seawater.
The overwhelming sense of hopelessness almost consumed him entirely.
Without any results or proof left behind, suddenly feeling lost without knowing what to say or how to talk about anything with Sylvia anymore became unbearable for him.
He yearned for their relationship to be revealed publicly; hoped desperately for his sister's return even if she couldn't come back herself but having her daughter beside him would suffice too.

Just then, a beautiful and delicate hand suddenly covered his hand holding the folder. Sylvia's familiar voice came through, "Mr. Hipps, although | don't know what happened, if you're willing, we can do a paternity test. It's not that difficult after all."
Clare lifted his tearful eyes at her words.
Sylvia had already woken up from Clare's initial reference to himself as an uncle and quickly sorted out her thoughts.
Perhaps Clare had long wanted to clarify their relationship and secretly did a paternity test.
