Chapter 796
Chapter 796
Vita listened with envy as she wondered why Jenna was able to attract such a great man, and even
have wealthy men pursuing her. Meanwhile, Vita herself was just a child from a disaster-stricken area
relying on support to survive. The more she thought about it, the worse she felt, but she didn't dare
show it. She feared that Mrs. Wright would notice and start disliking her.
She put on an obedient expression on her face, looking very cute and charming. Her natural beauty
combined with this intentional cuteness made her very endearing.
"Mrs. Wright, I saw online that there are many people criticizing Miss Shepherd and Master Brayden
after their love relationship went public..." She had originally wanted to say that the impact was
particularly bad but stopped herself mid-sentence.
There was also a hint of concern in her words as if worried about how Miss Shepherd might feel if she
saw all the negative comments online. "Those netizens are too much."
She tested Mrs. Wright's and Cody's reaction towards Jenna's reputation now that she had suddenly
gone from being their goddaughter to their future daughter-in-law. It could be somewhat awkward.
Mrs. Wright did not think much of it though; instead, she smiled elegantly. "They're not related by blood
anyway so let those people criticize all they want," said Mrs. Wright dismissively.
Cody also laughed out loud while his eyes flashed with an uncatchable sharpness."Jenna is perfect for
Brayden; having this daughter-in-law enter our family is my privilege as part of the Wright family! It
saves us from other women who always try to get close to Brayden despite him being nothing special
except for his good looks."
He spoke clearly enough even adding some teasing tone into his voice which implied he wasn't happy
about Vita constantly prying into Brayden's business under his nose like some inexperienced girl trying
too hard when he already has everything under control!
Did this young girl really think he couldn't see through what she was doing?
Only his wife would believe in such nonsense!
"Yes indeed," agreed Mrs. Wright while opening up her phone again admiring Jenna's award-winning
photo once more.
The more Mrs. Wright thought about it, the happier she became; lips curled upwards at all times while
joy shone brightly in every corner of both eyes!
"Once they return to the country, we'll have them get their marriage certificate. We need to plan the
wedding in detail because the Wright family can't afford to have a shabby celebration," Mrs. Wright
said, feeling excited about the future as if her daughter-in-law was already beckoning her.
The fear of losing her future daughter-in-law tormented Mrs. Wright.
If Vita hadn't arrived, Jenna and Brayden would probably have gotten their marriage certificate abroad
by now.
Mrs. Wright felt a little regretful that things had worked out so coincidentally.
Little did she know that when Vita saw on Twitter that Jenna and Brayden were going to participate in a
competition together, she couldn't sit still anymore.
She urgently wanted to come to Urgford.
If Jenna won another award, then wouldn't she...? She had originally planned on showing off while
Jenna was away and taking over her position in the Wright family for good. But now it seemed...
The trust of the Wright family in Jenna was very strong.
Both Cody and Mrs. Wright trusted and loved Jenna very much.
Vita secretly fumed with anger; did she really have to watch as her beloved man married this little slutty
girl named Jenna?
No way! She couldn't just hand Brayden over like that!
In Middle Evroya, the election has almost come to an end by now.
Everything will be settled by eight o'clock tomorrow morning.
Isabelle is currently ranked first among prime minister candidates while Harold is ranked first among
presidential candidates.
Michael Hayes thought he would win for sure since he was initially ranked first among prime minister
candidates but didn't expect Isabelle would suddenly withdraw from presidential candidacy halfway
through which infuriated him greatly.
"Bang!" He threw his remote control at his TV screen which shattered upon impact with it.
He turned pale with anger. "This bitch dares steal my position!"
"Don't be angry, dear husband; isn't she just a bitch?" Mrs. Hayes quickly picked up the remote control
and patted his chest gently trying hard not to let him get too upset. "What do our citizens admire most
about her? Independence! She's just an abandoned, divorced woman who has nothing worth
admiring."
"I don't believe I can't bring down this woman," Michael narrowed his eyes slightly: "I heard she lives at
Athena Society..."
"Baby, do you have any good ideas?" Mrs. Hayes asked anxiously.
"Hehe - doesn't she have Darius backing her up?" Michael's face twisted into a sinister smile. "After
tonight, I'll make sure Darius doesn't want her anymore!"
With that, he picked up the phone and slammed the door shut, leaving Mrs. Hayes outside.
Mrs. Hayes's face changed slightly - was there something she wasn't supposed to know?
Meanwhile, Isabelle was exhausted from campaigning all day for the election and had been staying at
a hotel near the speech center instead of returning to the Maternal and Child Protection Association.
Darius was right behind her with his deep voice carrying a hint of warmth. "You must be exhausted
today - get some rest."
He wanted nothing more than to hold her in his arms and comfort her but restrained himself.
Isabelle had delicate features with arched eyebrows framing her snow-white face under the dim
hallway lights of the hotel. A few strands of hair cascaded down her slender neck, making for an
enticing sight.
If it weren't for exhaustion showing in Isabelle's eyes, Darius would have pinned her against a wall and
kissed her fiercely.
But even so, he unclenched his fist before reaching out again to caress Isabelle's waist while leaning in
close to plant a gentle kiss on her cheek before whispering, "Get some rest; I'll come wake you up
tomorrow."
Isabelle blushed as she felt his masculine presence enveloping around him along with his rich voice Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
that sent shivers down through every inch of skin on hers; it was too much for one person alone! She
pushed away from him suddenly like an escaping rabbit before swiping open their room card then
slamming shut their door behind them both!
Darius watched as she fled like a startled rabbit but couldn't help smiling at how cute she looked when
flustered.
His long fingers brushed over his lips where traces of Isabella's scent still lingered strongly after they
parted ways.
There was no doubt about it - Darius was an exceptional man who possessed both good appearance
and wealth beyond measure while also having impeccable character traits.
And yet here he has been spending almost half-months accompanying Isabella every day without fail -
rain or shine - supporting everything related to advancing women's rights tirelessly alongside this
woman whom he admired deeply!
It is impossible to succeed in an election without the support of wealth and power behind you, relying
solely on passion. But for her, the entire Foster Group was behind her. Darius paved the way for her to
win the election. She received a lot of votes, and without Darius's help, it would have been even more
difficult for her.
She sighed deeply; no man had ever loved or cherished her like Darius did.
He was almost completely devoted to her, and even Bethany had become very close with him during
this time.
The bond between father and daughter was already strong due to their blood relation but Isabelle felt
lost as she didn't understand why he was there by their side - for Bethany or something else?
She didn't have enough confidence to believe that Darius loved her... she couldn't even think about it.
Maybe it was because they had lived such a hard life before with Bethany that he felt guilty? Or maybe
he wanted to make up for something? That's probably what it is...
After thinking about this for a while, Isabelle took a deep breath and prepared herself to take a shower
when she suddenly wrinkled her nose at an overpowering scent in the room.
She saw an antique incense burner on the table; how strange that hotels still provided these things
nowadays! The smell from this incense burner was too strong!
As she reached out to put out the incense inside of it, she suddenly felt dizzy - she was smart; there
must be something wrong with this scent!
Isabelle tried hard not let herself succumb but just as she went ahead trying put out all traces of smoke
coming from within its confines someone grabbed hold of mouth tightly shutting off any chance at
screaming before dragging them onto bed.
Her heart skipped several beats as panic set in "Mmmph!" She struggled against his grip but found
herself powerless against him as every ounce strength seemed drained away from within leaving only
despair rising up inside wondering who could do such thing?
Who is this man? Why does he want harm me?
Her eyes widened in terror - No! She used all strength left biting down hard into his wrist causing him
pain which made him release his grip momentarily giving Isabella chance escape
Isabelle regained her freedom and quickly loosened her mouth, stumbling towards the door. However,
the man chased after her with large strides and lifted her up before slapping her across the face.
"Smack!"
Isabelle's consciousness was already somewhat confused, but after being slapped like this, she
suddenly became vaguely clear-headed. She shook her head but found that there was a burning
sensation inside of her body that made it difficult to resist the man's approach.
No... no!
She knew she must have been affected by that fragrance - it was poisonous!
