A Vengeful Girl

Chapter 310 Gamble

Chapter 310 Gamble

Charles's heart was torn at the thought of it. He had no idea what exactly Robert would do to Linda.

When Charles and Robert were kids, they were good friends. But as they grew older, they also grew

apart. After a series of incidents, they had gone their separate ways. They hadn't talked to each other

for ages. Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.

Charles always thought about what had happened to their friendship. He didn't do anything wrong. If

the Huo brothers blamed him for something he didn't do and decided to isolate him, then it was their

problem. There was nothing he could do about it.

Whenever he came across them while doing business, he always treated them with leniency because

they went way back.

However, things were different now. Robert openly challenged him by abducting his lover!

Charles was furious at Robert's dirty tricks. He even dared to send a fake Linda who disgusted him.

"Are you working for Robert?" Charles glared at her.

Lisa was surprised at his accusation, but she remained calm and decided to lie for her own sake. She

knew very well that she had to deny everything; otherwise, she would be ruined.

Once Charles found out about the truth, he would ask her to bear the consequences.

Charles only suspected her but he had no proof. As long as the real Linda was nowhere to be found,

she was safe because she looked exactly like Linda. There was nothing Charles could do to her for

now.

"Young Master Mu, what are you talking about? I am Linda. I have told you multiple times that I am

really Linda. How come you don't recognize me anymore?"

Lisa pouted. Her eyes were still wet with tears. The sight disgusted Charles greatly as he furrowed his

eyebrows in distress.

He simply couldn't stand her cheap-ass crocodile tears anymore. Whenever he questioned her identity,

she would use her tears as a weapon.

Charles turned his head away as he couldn't bear looking at her sad face. She had the same face as

Linda's, and even though this woman wasn't her, it still hurt him to see Linda's face crying in front of

him. His heart ached with guilt and confusion. He even wondered whether he did anything wrong or

not.

Charles shook his head violently. A voice echoed in his head, saying that this woman was not his

beloved. She was not Linda Xia.

Charles was tortured by his own thoughts. On one hand, he felt furious whenever she touched him

because he knew that she was a fake.

On the other hand, the sight of her crying face made him sad. He wanted to wipe the tears off her face

so badly.

If the woman crying in front of him was the real Linda, he would do literally anything for her. He would

spoil her with whatever she wanted.

But the real Linda was gone. Lisa seized the opportunity and took full advantage of the situation. She

knew that Charles could not find his Linda anymore.

The real Linda died in the river. Her body had already sunk to the bottom.

Charles touched his forehead in frustration. He didn't know what to do with the woman sitting on the

floor. His heart was torn between guilt and fury.

With a dark face, he bent down, looked her in the eyes, and said, "I am asking you one last time. Who

sent you to me?"

Lisa was petrified by his stare. However, for the sake of her own life, her face remained unwavered,

and she bravely replied, "I am Linda!"

"Shut up! You don't have any right to say that name." Charles's jaw tensed so tightly that a thick blue

vein appeared on his temple. Out of anger, he reached out and grabbed her by the throat.

His fingers dug into her neck, showing no mercy for her. Lisa couldn't breathe. Out of despair, she

waved her hands wildly in front of his face, trying to push him away. However, she was too weak

compared to him. Lisa knew she was about to choke to death.

She had pushed him way too far. She could feel his violent wrath through his fingers.

Lisa's face turned red from Charles's grip. If it continued, she would die due to lack of oxygen.

She had no doubt that Charles would kill her right then and there out of anger.

Charles had already seen through her disguise.

She had to think of something fast to stay alive. She had to plan for her survival. Upon thinking, she

uttered between her teeth and begged, "Hubby, no matter what you do, I will love you all the same. If

you want to choke me to death, I shall accept my fate. I have already lost our child, and I would be

more than happy to keep her company in the afterlife!"

Lisa's words moved him, and her face looked innocent. For a moment, Charles didn't know what to do.

Lisa's face looked exactly like Linda's. The resemblance was remarkable. Her beautiful eyes were now

full of tears. Charles then hesitated.

Lisa's eyes looked quite similar to Linda's. It was this pair of eyes that made Charles change his mind.

For a moment, he thought he saw the real Linda in front of him.

Lisa closed her eyes and stopped struggling. She knew that her efforts were in vain. Right now, the

only thing she could rely on was her resemblance to Linda. She was banking on it. Charles could not

afford to kill her as she was the last one in the world that would remind him of Linda.

Charles's eyes glowered with anger as he choked her tighter by the minute. Lisa's face turned pale.

She could die any second now.

Just then, Charles stopped. He pulled his hands away from her throat and pushed her aside.

Charles couldn't do it. Even though he knew she was not his beloved Linda, he still couldn't kill her as

she resembled Linda.

When he was strangling her, he couldn't take his eyes away from her face.

The resemblance was so remarkable that he simply couldn't kill "her". Lisa barely escaped her death.

"Paul, from now on, Lady 'Linda' is grounded. She is not allowed to step out of the bedroom, " Charles

cast a glance at Lisa as he said so.

"Yes, Young Master."

Paul nodded and then went out to spread the word. Soon, the servants all heard about the incident.

They all wondered whether Lady Linda had done something horrible to upset Young Master.

Young Master hadn't been home lately. Gossip spread among the servants. Was the couple on the

verge of breaking up?

Charles didn't care about the rumours. He only hoped that Linda could return to his side safe and

sound.

He wanted to hold her in his arms again.

Charles couldn't stay home anymore. He took off with Paul and went to the company. He was needed

there to handle some important documents.

After everyone had gone, Lisa sat on the floor, staring blankly into the air, as if time had stopped. The

tears continued to stream down her cheeks, but she didn't sob out loud. The pain Charles had left on

her throat was still burning, but she couldn't care less.
