Chapter 486: Press Conference
Chapter 486: Press Conference
"If you're interested in where I used to work, I'll invite you to tea sometime and definitely answer your
questions."
Ella also says, "Please return to your seats. Otherwise, I will invite you out."
The reporters see that the security guards are ready to make a move at any time. Thinking of the
importance of the news conference, they don't dare to make a scene but go back to sit down.
However, a few of them are still whispering to their counterparts.
Seeing Lily come on stage, the manager and the perfumer of the Egret Company hurriedly stand up
and shake hands with her.
"President Lily."
Lily smiles politely, "Thank you for coming."
"Not at all. You've also suffered these days." The manager says, "It is rumored that we scam HS
Company. Obviously, it's our company that released the product first. So how could we do that?"
"We come here and want an explanation from President Lily."
"Don't worry." Lily smiles, "We invite the press here to let everyone know why our new product smell
exactly the same as yours."
Seeing how confident Lily is, the manager is flustered.
He thinks that Lily must have found out something, so she holds the press conference. They will
definitely have a hard time today.
After sitting down, the manager whispers to Mr. Barham, "Are you sure that the perfume was made by
you instead of being stolen from HS Company?"
Mr. Barham looks panicked and replies calmly at once, "It's me who make it."
"Good." Hearing Mr. Barham say that, the manager is relieved, "We're the first to release the products.
We have to insist that HS Company took our products."
Mr. Barham nods. He recalls that he erased the receipt records long ago. HS Company would definitely
not be able to find anything.
HS Company holds the press conference today probably just for putting on an act.
Ella puts something in front of Lily.
There are two bottles of perfume samples, a few perfume test papers, and a document.
Lily puts her hand on the document and goes past the manager to look for the perfumer.
Lily says, "Mr. Barham, if you tell the truth now, we'll settle and our company won't hold you
accountable."
"What truth?" Mr. Barham sneers as he crosses his arms and looks sideways at Lily, "The truth is that
your perfumers copied my product and you even packaged it into a new product for sale!"
Lily's eyes darken and she asks again, "Mr. Barham, won't you think it over?"
"President Lily." The manager interrupts, disapproving, "It's your company that stole our products. Are
you trying to force our perfumer to submit by asking such a question?"
The camera below aims at them on the stage.
The reporters also hear their conversation clearly. RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
A reporter says, "That's right. President Lily, the Egret Company is the first to release the products.
What's your version of the truth?"
"Don't tell us that your perfumer thinks the same way as the perfumer at the Egret Company. So you
made this perfume."
"It's impossible, I guess?"
"There are no leaves that are identical. It's more so with perfume-making."
After that, the others begin to discuss.
The meeting room is buzzing again.
When Lily sees that Mr. Barham is stubborn, she is no longer soft-hearted.
Lily picks up one of the bottles of perfume samples, sprays it on the perfume test paper, and then
hands it to Mr. Barham.
"Mr. Barham, since it's your perfume, you should know what this perfume is made of, right?"
Mr. Barham snorts, "You tell me."
"Please smell the perfume test paper and tell me what the spices are." Lily says.
Mr. Barham glances at Lily.
Mr. Barham wonders what Lily is up to, but he still takes the paper and lowers his head to gently sniff it.
A few seconds later, Mr. Barham spells the names of the spices.
Lily nods, picks up the other bottle of perfume sample from the table, sprays it on the test paper, and
then hands it to Mr. Barham.
Mr. Barham turns pale instantly and angrily says, "President Lily, are you kidding me? I made the
perfume. Of course, I know what the spices are."
"I know. I just want you to sniff it again, Mr. Barham." Lily smiles, "Please."
Mr. Barham is silent.
He takes the perfume test paper with a sullen face.
Mr. Barham gently sniffs it and discovers that the perfume on the test paper is somewhat different from
the one he just smelled.
The perfume on this piece of paper evaporates quickly and smells good.
That fragrance....
It smells exactly the same as the bottle of perfume delivered to Mr. Barham!
When Mr. Barham smells it, his hands shake and he almost throws away the perfume test paper.
Lily sees this and knows that he smells the difference. Lily deliberately asks, "Mr. Barham, do you think
it smells the same as the perfume on the test paper just now?"
"Yes, it's the same!" Mr. Barham answers.
Mr. Barham is sure that Lily is not a professional. Besides, only one spice of the base notes is changed.
Only the professionals can tell the difference!
Mr. Barham jumps at this finding and says, "President Lily, you stole our product. No action will be
taken against you if you sincerely apologize to the Egret Company and me, and cancel the product
launch."
Hearing this, Lily smiles and shakes her head, "You are a perfumer and have a sensitive nose.
However, the spices of the two bottles of perfume samples have been changed. You didn't recognize
them."
"Ella." Lily calls Ella, "Take these two bottles of perfume samples to the reporters. Let them have a try."
"Alright, President Lily."
Mr. Barham panics but quickly calms down.
HS Company also has professional perfumers. It isn't surprising that they can smell the difference
between the two perfumes.
Mr. Barham says to Lily, "I knew the spices of the base notes are different. But I said that on purpose. I
knew President Lily wouldn't let me smell the perfume for no reason."
"Ms. Lily, do you want to tell the press that HS Company didn't stole our product because the spices in
the two perfumes are different?"
Seeing that Lily does not respond, Mr. Barham thinks that she is guilty and questions closely.
"I made this perfume! Your company stole my product and turned it into your new product with a slight
change, didn't you?"
"Ms. Lily, I'm telling you people can smell and won't lie!"
As he speaks, the reporters below are comparing the two perfumes.
None of them are professional and can't tell if the spices are changed, but they feel that the two
perfumes smell different.
"The perfume on the yellow test paper smells good. It's soothing."
"I agree. And I feel stuffy and uncomfortable when I smell the other one on the blue test paper."
They are talking about how they feel.
"The one on yellow test paper is the product of our company, and the perfume on blue test paper is
made by you." Lily looks at Mr. Barham and says calmly, "Their noses really don't lie."
"It's your company who stole...."
