Chapter 457: I Suspect It Is a Gift from Mr. Smith
Chapter 457: I Suspect It Is a Gift from Mr. Smith
"When the male lead comes to your house, you think he is a guest. You are very curious about his
identity. He is a gentleman with graceful manners, while your fiancé has no courtesy. In comparison,
you develop a nice feeling for the man in front of you, dreaming of marrying him. That is called 'a young
girl in love', understand?"
His words are easy to understand. Lily finally understands.
Oh well.
When she is on her way here, she goes through the script for a long time, thinking it should be easy to
act since she only has few lines. She doesn't expect that playing a character with few lines is actually
tricky.
The director tells the two of them where they stand and the time to change their position.
As soon as he finishes, he hurries Lily to the set and runs back behind the camera.
The director's camera focuses on Lily.
Then the camera advances for a close view of Lily face. The director frowns at her round cheeks, "Ms.
Lily, please eat less in the next few days. Your face looks a little chubby - not good for cameras."
Lily is embarrassed.
She has indeed gained a lot of weight recently, but the nutrients are all absorbed by the babies. She
knows she has extra fat on her belly and thighs, but her pretty face?
Lily asks in a low voice, "Do I have a chubby face in the camera?"
"A fat face." The director nods and says straightforwardly, "your face looks like a scone, hot from the
oven."
"..." Lily can't help but defend herself, "I'm just a little fat - I weigh only 114 pounds."
"And you call yourself "just a little fat". Actresses as tall as you weigh no more than 92 pounds."
"..."
Just as Lily is about to fall apart, Louis says in an indifferent tone, "An actress who weighs 92 pounds
will look fat if you take close-up shots of her face. Ms. Lily is not a professional actress, so there is no
need to be harsh on her. Characters are not that important in a short film that promotes perfume. Just
focus on her side face and eyes."
Lily hurriedly says, "Sounds great! I'm nervous when facing the camera."
The director thinks for a moment and reluctantly nods, "Alright, let's try the side face first. If it still
doesn't work, Ms. Lily, you have to go on a diet - in case the cheongsam no longer fits."
Cheongsam?
Lily suddenly remembers that after the filming here, they have to go to the City L's Film and Television
City for another shooting set in the 1900s.
She has to wear a cheongsam, no, two!
People can tell she is pregnant if she put on a cheongsam.
What should she do?
Lily is thinking nonsense. The director whispers to her, "Ms. Lily, please get ready."
Lily has no choice but to stay calm and be ready for the shooting.
Although Lily and Louis are new to the business, the director daren't yell at them as he does to the
unknown actors or actresses. Instead, he gives his instructions with a soft and patient voice throughout
the process.
It is Lily's first shooting. She finds it very hard though the staffs on set give her a lot of guidance.
After tens of bloopers, she gradually gets on track.
The shooting lasts from day to evening.
The director says only tens of seconds of the countless clips are up to standard. Then he tells everyone
to pack up and go now. Tomorrow morning, the actors and actress will change clothes and continue the
shooting.
Lily has been listening to the director's instruction all day. She is exhausted since she doesn't take any
rest today.
On the way back, she falls asleep, leaning on the shoulder of the scriptwriter.
After arriving at the homestay family, the scriptwriter pats Lily on the shoulder, trying to wake her for a
long time. "What should I do now? I can't wake up Ms. Lily. Should I leave her to sleep here?"
"There is no ventilation in the car," Louis walks over with a gloomy expression on his face, "I'll send her
back."
The scriptwriter instantly gets out of the car.
She and the stylist watch Louis carrying Lily out of the car and into the house.
The two of them look at each other, speechless.
After a while, the scriptwriter begins to gossip, "Don't you think Mr. Smith treats Ms. Lily too well?
People say that Mr. Smith is not a lady's man, but now, it looks the opposite!"
"I think they've dated," the stylist thinks for a moment and hazards a guess, "Is Ms. Lily the reason that
Mr. Smith came all the way here to shoot the film?"
"You may be right!" the scriptwriter agrees, "Do you remember asking Ms. Lily this morning whether it is
a male or a female friend that gives her the earrings? She looks secretive. I suspect it is a gift from Mr.
Smith."
Hearing her words, the stylist takes a deep breath and says, "No way! Mr. Smith can afford all the
treasure in the world. How can he give such an ugly pair of earrings to Ms. Lily?"
The scriptwriter lets out a snort and says, "You silly, the gift is meaningful if it is made by hand. Don't
you see how much Ms. Lily cherish the earrings? When she put on another agate earrings, she put the
earrings away carefully as if she is in fear of losing them."
The stylist is envious, "Good for Ms. Lily. She has got a handsome and rich boyfriend. How lucky she
is!"
"Don't say that. Ms. Lily is also a beautiful and rich woman."
They walk towards the restaurant, chatting along the way.
Suddenly thinking of something, the stylist spoke in a strange tone, "When Ms. Lily is changing the
costume, I notice that her belly looks different, as if ... she is pregnant."
"What?" the scriptwriter immediately denies her, "Ms. Lily must have overeaten, which makes her figure
look pregnant with a baby. If she is pregnant, who is the father? If Mr. Smith knows, he won't cast her in
the film."
The stylist is convinced. She is probably overthinking it.
It's not surprising that one looks like carrying with a baby when she overeats.
...
The next few days, the shooting takes place in an AAA-level scenic spot and lasts from dawn to dusk.
Lily feels a little uncomfortable at the beginning, but later she is adaptive to the working environment
and devotes herself entirely to the filming.
The director is much more relaxed when he sees the progress of the male and female lead's act. He
says jokingly, "Ms. Lily, your eyes know how to act. You almost make me think that you really like Mr.
Smith!"
Lily has a panic. She then quickly cracks a smile and says, "Well, you are a good teacher who has
taught me to reveal the emotions by eyes. I am a hardworking student. I don't want to waste your time."
The director laughs loudly, "You are a quick learner, Ms. Lily. Your comprehension is good!"
Lily lets out a sigh of relief when the director stops to ask any further.
When she takes the thermos cup from the scriptwriter and just about to drink water from it, she feels
someone is staring at her but finds nothing when turning around.
In the distance, a tall man is removing the makeup with the help of a stylist. He pretends to have never
paid any attention to her.
After the day off, they are ready to go to the City L's Film and Television City to shoot the 1900s
scenes.
Lily is afraid that wearing a cheongsam will show her pregnancy. So she talks with the director that the
wedding dress in the 1900s of China is exceptional. A white wedding gown is too common.
The director then has a meeting with the scriptwriters and the stylists.
After discussing for a long time, they all agree with Lily that the script can be modified.
Lily hurriedly says that the improved clothes at that time are also good-looking. It is unnecessary to
wear a cheongsam. The stylist agrees and promises to pick up some clothes and send them over as
soon as possible. Lily feels relieved.
Finally, she doesn't have to wear a cheongsam.
Ever since Willow finds out about Lily's pregnancy, Willow will come to see Lily as long as she stays at
the homestay family. Willow gives Lily fruit, or her mother-in-law's stewed bird's nest and nutrients.
It is impolite for Lily to turn her down, so she accepts the gifts and gives Willow a high-end cosmetics
set in return.

Willow no longer asks who the father is. Instead, she asks, "Ms. Lily, how many babies are you
pregnant with?"
"Three."
"Wow! Triplets are rare!" Willow is surprised, "The father's gene is so good. Does he have a lot of
siblings?"
